This same sort of thing happened to me yesterday, 7/20/2013 - my PC was "sending error messages that showed it had bad virus causing damage" that they needed to remove. My caller ID showed his phone number to be "asterisk", so I knew it was a scam. I tried to act like  I believed them, and when I pressed for his name he said David Ellis - heavy Asian accent (LOL unbelievable). Pressing for the company name he said it was 99EastTech(something or other) in Florida. I let him start leading me through different steps at my PC (knowing when it would become dangerous). Static on my portable phone (land line) made us hang up (part of my ploy to see how far I could get him). He called back again! So.... we continued...   During the whole procedure, I was pressing him for more info as we got to each next step he wanted me to follow.  He gave a  phone number of 918-615-4972.  I let him lead me to the "View events" function, after which he would have gotten to the function for allowing my PC to be controlled remotely, so  I pressed again and got an address for them at 4140 Jason Rd, Springhill, FL.   I guess he was so close he could taste it? LOL!   As he continued, my "static problem" grew so bad I couldn't hear him and had to hang up.

Using Whitepages.com I was able to track the address to Eric Smith, Diane J Smith, Allison A Smith, and Jason A Smith, and a company name of "online pc care help"  (not even capitalized) but the number showed up as 818-827-1313. I don't have the  energy to pursue this legally, but if anyone here can use this info, by all means go after them, maybe report it to the police or online at www.USA.gov or submit it by form directly to the Internet Crime Unit at www.IC3.gov . Good luck!

I have gotten multiple calls from this number over the course of two weeks and every time I get a call - i tell them i'm on the do not call list and to please stop calling me. I've also told him that I don't have any windows computers and that I only have Apple products.

Today (2/4/2013) He identified my name, my husband's name and also my home address - he obviously knew my home number to call me at home.  He has an Indian accent and is very difficult to understand.

I told him I was busy & had to leave so I needed to get his number to call him back because it sounded  very important - He identified himself as Daniel Jackson at 818-827-1313 ext 109 for computer support.

He insisted that he was calling from windows support and that I had multiple infections on my windows computer - I let him go through the whole conversation so I could find out what they were up to.  Finally I got to the end of conversation where he was getting me to go to "my computer" on my desktop and I finally told him that I was not interested in his "scam" and that I do not have access to make any changes on my company's work laptop.  He then became very irate on the phone with me and started yelling that he wasn't a scammer and that if I didn't cooperate with him that windows would crash my computer.  He told me he knew my IP address and that I shouldn't use my computer for more than 10 minutes at a time or they would "shut it down".   I told him to lose my number and never call me again.

If you question him - he gets very angry and threatening. - He threatened to shut down my computer because he knew my IP address.

They identified themselves as "Windows" support help desk (a frantic Indian-sounding man) and tried to get me to download from www.ammyy.com
to connect to my computer to remove malicious ware. I did not "bite" because I was checking the net on my smart phone and realized the ammyy scam.

On 2/25/12 I received a call from Best PC Support. As a supposed Windows user I had trojans and viruses that needed to be removed. They ignored the typical I'm on the do not call list and asking what is your company name and phone number. After rudely ignoring my repeated questions and to talk to a supervisor and continuing to push their wares I finally reached a 'supervisor' after some yelling who took the same tactics but finally revealed their number. Just before I hung up they said please don't be mad at Windows. Huh? Don't worry, I'm not.
