ive had two calls now one from califonia and now from northern los angeles i dont even know anyone in america so why im getting these calls is beyond me and my phone provider cant even block the calls but if it keeps happening i will phone the cops

This call came simultaneously with another one purporting to be from the opposite coast, while I was at work with no means to answer. If I'd somehow managed to get both calls, I'd have connected them together...

My brother got called from that number once. Saying that he won money.

This number called me and said they were officer Andy Dowson of the Mounted Toronto Police Force and that a James Parker was coming to rob me with a gun, he's coming to my residence. He told me to call a number 416-915-3829 if i saw anything suspisious, when i asked him for his badge number he hung up. He had an indian/pakistani accent, the call display said northern california. All phone numbers for the Toronto Police use the 808 exchange.

this number was listed as a pay phone out of pacoima ca.  Probably a scam

I have been getting calls from various numbers like this one(818-890-6843)It claims to be a pay phone in California but who knows these days,I have had Russian women (or that's what they claimed to be)contact me from out of the blue through Windows live and social sites seemingly sincere wanting to hear of culture differences and talking about family and hobbies and then they switch to Honey,Sweetheart, and I love you!  Can you send me money for rent because my sick parent has to be hospitalized or something on that order.Through research I found out it was a con artist or artists from California who dreamt up this scheme to try to suck money from people using hard luck stories, copying and pasting pictures of Gorgeous women in attempts to lure people into sending them money.Also Nigerians stating that I just won a lottery or got an Inheritance but i need to give them my money to get it ! WTF...!!!  The Internet has a lot of good and unfortunately equal amounts of bad, I can only imagine where the info I have put online is going other than to places I intended.Maybe its just another study being conducted to follow human actions and consumer responses, or is it?  Microsoft can track the numbers being used by these scammers,Crack down on some of these Peggy's will ya? I have a lot of respect for Chris Hansen and MSNBC for stopping a lot of these guy's but I think there is alot more work to be done. tom.
