Hmmmm, I got literally about 15 of these texts on the 20th at night. I don't live in NYC, but I WAS visiting there that day. I think someone must have had some kind of device that just called all the cell phones in a certain area. I was seeing a Broadway show, so if someone was targeting the Times Square area? I figured it was a scam and just ignored it, but I wanted to look it up anyway.

What is the NYS Police number? Thanks. Yeah, I screwed up.

Just got the same text about the prepaid chase card. Look like they wanted me to verify some info to activate a card.

Just called the NYS Police and they will not do anything. Said to have by cell carrier block the number. They will not investigate because apparently unless I call give these scammers my details and they steal my identity then they will investigate. Unbelievable.
Your tax dollars hard at work.

This is a total scam. Someone is fishing for personal information. I called Chase and they said this is a scam. Tell your friends and family to be on the look out for this.

Chase has nothing to do with this Pe-Noy. They can't know in advance that an A**-clown is using their name to trick people into giving up their personal financial information.
| kim 2011-08-21 03:47:36 Unknown |
we called chase and told them about it and the guy said they dont need or want any of the information. i told him what was goin on and his response was thank you for the call delete the message and do not call the number. i asked him if he wanted the number he said no because this is not from chase so we are not affiliated with the problem

Got the samessage about the prepaid chase debit card at 9:48 this evening, my text also included the phrase "This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner, and is believed to be clean." This also made me doubt even more how legit this message was, and the first thing of course was to google this number, thanks for all your replies, we should all file a complain... also I live in the NY 5 boroughs I wonder if it only affects us here in NYC.
| KLB 2011-08-21 02:13:41 Unknown |
Thanks! I will totally file a complaint. I suggest everyone else does too.
