"Chump no more", apparently this is still happening.  I believe it is a Walgreens employee stealing card numbers as well.  I shopped at Walgreens for the first time in my life about a week ago, in Colorado, and now have two false charges on my card from a Walgreens in Wisconsin - one for $77 and one for $80.  I too will not be shopping at Walgreens again!

I had a fraudulent charge on my company credit card after making a purchase at a Walgreens. I believe that someone at the store stole my credit card number. The card was cancelled and about a month later I had a fraudulent charge on my personal card after making a purchase at Walgreens. This time a $50.50 charge appeared in another state at the same time I used my card to pay for lunch in my home state. Again the bank contacted me about suspicious activity on my card and the card has been cancelled. I believe that a Walgreen employee is stealing numbers and selling them either through a branch store or the processing center. I'm done with Walgreens.

This phone number tried to obtain funds from my debit card/checking account. I cancelled the card before the process was complete.

847-506-4016 is an Arlington Heights, IL landline number.  I called the number and the voice message said I had "reached the desk of Nancy Clemmons."  My online banking showed a checkcard purchase in IL.

My credit card got charged for $1.00 on 19 Oct 09. 847-506-4016 was listed as the contact number.
I know exactly what caused this.  A scam site,  www.clickdvdstore.com, where I had attempted to order a box set of DVDs.  The next day I realized this was a scam site when the original charge of my order did not go through.  When I called the number listed with that charge, 631-693-4898, I got some unidentifiable voice mail.  Sure enough, the next day the fraudulent charge from Walgreens showed up and I canceled my credit card.
I have filed a complaint with the FTC about the website, www.clickdvdstore.com.  They need to pull this site off fast, as I know other people will be duped on this one.  I am also pursuing law enforcement actions for prosecution.
I would encourage everyone to contact their congressman or senators to beef up prosecution of these types of cyber crimes.  They're real criminals and they need to be in jail!!

Got a call from Risk Management that a charge for $1 was attempted at a Walgreens in Schenechtedy, NY around 8:30pm. They blocked the card. Had to cancel my cards at my CU this morning. Really pisses me off!
I had just made a purchase through PayPal about 30 minutes earlier too. Made me stop and think.
When I called the number, nothing but air.
I live in WA.

Same story here. My bank alerted me to the charge. I live in NH and have never even been in a Walgreens never mind one in Ilinois. I had them block my card and I am off in the morning to get a new one. I tried calling the 847-506-4016 number too but it wouldn't even ring.

As an update to my earlier post, call Walgreen's Corporate office.  They are aware of the situation, "and are working to resolve it".  I've been told that I will receive a call from the Executive Office about this.  We'll see.  In the meantime, I have filed a report with my local PD who will now be in touch with the Arlington Heights PD - this is considered identify theft.

This is fraud.  I live in Florida and this happened to me on yesterday.  I didn't purchase any pictures from Walgreen's.  I had a "pending authorization" on my debit card from Walgreen's in Arlington Heights, IL.  I did a search on the phone number.  It is an AT&T number listed to Title Republic.  So, unless Title Republic is Walgreen's it's fraud.  I had my card deactivated and intend to pursue whoever has done this.

Did all of you order pictures from Walgreens or something through the photo center?  That is their main headquarters and when you ordered that is where it is coming from.  It is no fraud.  For some reason they split up their shipping costs.  They seem to charge you when they ship it so that is why it comes up a day or two after you ordered it.

I hope this is true and helps...

Good luck!

Yeah, same thing here.  $1 charge from Illinois, called my bank and they gave the same phone # listed here, called and got dead air, it never even rang.  Had to close card and not sure how they got my card#.  I don't live in Illinois, either, actually several states away! My charge was pending as well, and bank said they can't file fraud claim until a charge actually goes through, but they did tell me that it happened just after midnight last night, about 16 seconds after midnight was when the "authorization" on my card showed up.  Wonder what all we have in common or where they got our info? I haven't actually received a call from them that I am aware of, just noticed this on my online banking and that was how I found out.

This number appeared on my credit card statement as a pending charge. The charge listed Walgreens as the merchant.  I called Walgreens and they said that they do not store credit card information, so they suspected that I got phished somehow.  I called my Bank and closed my debit card.  The charge was made at around 11 AM today.  I am in Texas, but the charge was in IL.

Interestingly, when I called the number 847-506-4016, they answered, but I got silence. No ring or dial tone.

This number was provided to me by my bank when I got an authorization fee on my account from Walgreens knowing full well I hadn't made any purchase there recently.  When I call it, there is just silence, no ring and no dial tone.
