Carpet cleaning offer from a "Dan".  All my phones, cells and landline, are listed on the DoNotCall lists.  Please resolve this annoyance.

Rceieved a call on Aug 6th from this number. I am on a national do not call list.

Missed the call. When I called back, I got a loud tone...similar to a fax machine.  I am on the Do Not Call list.

Answered the call but nobody was responding on the other line.

Several times over the past few weeks my cell phone has received a call from 1-847-886-5243, but no message is left and I haven't been available to take the call.

Whenever I call 1-847-886-5243 back, all I get is a loud, screeching fax-like noise. I'm on the on the federal DNC list and have reported these incidents to the same.

I received the typical unwanted call (am on the Do Not Call list) which gave me the choices "1" to schedule and "8" to remove. I hit "1" since I never should have been called in the first place and wanted to talk to a "real" person.  When I started to complain to the woman, she hung up on me.

Got a call on mobile phone from (847) 886-5243. Recorded message from "Dan" re: carpet cleaning.
I hung up and filed a complaint on donotcall.gov, since my number is registered on the do not call list.
Checked reverse lookup and it had no company info - just Round Lake, IL.

Got a call on my Verizon Cell Phone, I mention it's Verizon in case they're just using Verizon cell phones....  I heard the start of a recorded message and hung up.  What I do after that is take the phone number, list it in my cell as Tele 1 and so on... and make it a no ring type number.  That way if they ever call back, I don't hear it, it goes to Voicemail and I've got it listed as a Telemarketer call, so I can avoid it.

No, the number listed there is 847-888-5243. 6 and 8 are different digits.

Just received the call from 847-886-5243. Irritating because the area code is mine and I thought it was someone I knew. This should not be legal.

This might be a high school prank.  The phone number is listed as Larkin High School's fax number.  People who already posted report that they called the number and got a tone.  (They called a fax machine)

The prankster probably used a caller ID spoofing tool - or maybe even put wardialing software on a PC at the high school to call us.  The source is now calling lots of 847 numbers.  Perhaps they intend that a large number of angry recipients of the automated message will call the high school's fax number, clogging it up?  I didn't listen to the whole message so I don't know if it was also actually a real advertisement from someone trying to get business...  I pressed 0 to see if it would take me to an operator and it just said "thank you" and went to dead air.  I tried pressing more keys and nothing happened.  Then I hung up after a while.  Does anyone know if there was an actual business with a contact number or something?  If it's a real business they must have some way to get ahold of them in the message?

Called me last week & called me again today. Recognized the number from before & did not answer. I do have Verizon & will block this call from my cell phone! Thanks for the tip!

No message, just a prompt on my phone that I missed a call from this number.

Scammers:  Robo-calling Cells.  The calls are carried by PAC-WEST Telecom Inc.  Customer Abuse can be reported to: abuse@pacwest.com or (800) 511-9048.  Report the abusive calls to the carrier.

This is a new scam. This "carpet cleaner" is phishing for cell phone numbers. I got the same call earlier, but it was a number in Boston. Now it's in Chicago. It's all fake.

The scam is, you call back, they have captured your cell phone number, which they sell. Just ignore them. It's a scam. And it's legal, because they aren't selling anything.
