I received two calls from Portfoliorecovery on 12/19/13. Two different phone numbers 404 941 8908 and 847 915 4056. I don't owe anyone anything and am on the Federal DNC Registry. This is so frustrating that they even call.

I have just one question. People post and say someone calls from a number and does not leave a message, yet they know what company called them. How is that possible?

People that owe a third party debt collector,s like Portfolio or any other, should do as i have with them, dont answer your phone,do not confirm your debt with them, you did not owe them any thing at the time of your default, they bought it after your default. OH sure they say and your contract with the OC states they can sell it it to a JDB, But to really sue you they have to show DAMAGES to them,it cant be done because you did not damage them. They were not part of a contact with you, they can not show contract with you at the time of damages in which they claim you owe them. This is Contact law,and it is also our judicial systems requires specific damages to only the person you damaged and it was not them.Be sure to answer any summons that comes your way,Deny, every thing but your name and address. If you do not answer a summons they will get a default judgement on you and then it is truly theres to take.I have beat Portfolio two times already in court and yes i owed the debt, just not to them : ).Hope this helps someone, and know im not a deadbeat that just didnt want to pay my CC,i became disabled and was not able to pay them.

Yep the same has happened to me! I wish they would stop looking my resume up online! That is for legitimate companies to contact me with!!!
when looking for employment beware 2013-08-01 20:46:09 Unknown
Sent out my resume online and received this call from a new york number from what sounded like an 17 year old Hispanic girl with accent asking me if I was still interested in working. Stupid question to ask someone sending out resumes and more stupid to try to take advantage or bother people that are with enough problems and no money.

These people need to get a real job, calling at all hours and from many phone numbers. Now if someone owes they should only be responsible for the amount of money that Portfolio paid for the uncollected debt that was written off by the creditor, plus 10 percent. The problem with this company and many others is that they are not the ones that took the loss of the amount of money the consumer owed to the original creditor, they pay a small portion to buy the debt then expect to get a windfall by constantly harrassing someone who would have possibly paid if they could. Thank the wonderful government for jobs being lost, wages being cut and or wages being so low that the person can barely make it. Another reason debt can occur and payment is not made, once you make a late payment the CC company will up your rate then report to the credit bureau which in turn, all the other credit cards that you have may also raise the percentage rates so to sum up. If you miss a payment once all hell breaks loose and from that point on its a never ending battle between the Portfolio thugs and people just trying to survive. If they would accept what they paid for the debt and of course being fair to them (that was hard to even type) they should get a small percentage over and above what they are out. I bet they would have more luck doing that then trying to collect an amount that the person couldnt pay to begin with. I know they have moles doing all their dirty work and checking out all these sites so all i can say to them is GOOD LUCK...they are the scum of the earth and shouldnt be allowed to even run this type of business. DO NOT EVER ANSWER ANY NUMBER YOU DO NOT KNOW, IF IT IS IMPORTANT THEY WILL LEAVE A MESSAGE SO YOU NEVER, NEVER HAVE TO TALK TO THIS COMPANY IT'S NOT WORTH IT.

Same caller, but another number today to add to the list 404-941-8908.

I have been receiving calls every day now. If it is a debt collector, I do not owe anything. I don't answer and they don't leave any messages. So aggravating to be on the do not call list and still getting tons of calls. A few weeks ago, I shouldn't have answered, but I did. Someone called me regarding a 4 day cruise that I supposedly won. The guy said he was in Florida. His number 561-910-4706 and it comes up as Boca Raton FL. It sounded legit until he told me that I would have to pay 69.00 for the port fee. I knew from that point it was a scam and as soon as I told him that, he hung up. Now this Portfoliorecov is calling me all the time. They have used the numbers 847-915-4056, 602-842-7194, 404-909-8732.

Having a question about one aspect of David's post is not being critical of him. A family member had been consulting my calendar and had not put it back to May. A quick glance at it on my part resulted in my question about the date. My question was just meant to solve a puzzle. I was not documenting anything. Having a head cold at the time contributed to my confusion and spelling errors I suppose.
Linda B, 2013-05-25 02:33:11 Unknown
My nearby calendar was open to the wrong month. My question about the date of your post was not meant to be critical. I was just trying to make sense of the date. I am sorry about any misunderstanding. I would have posted an apology sooner but I have not been online since my question about the date.
receive many such calls 2013-05-25 00:16:19 Unknown
what no apology to David? by the way the dates are not put in by the person writing this message. the 800notes.com does that automatically. Portfolio Recovery has many phone numbers, glad to know this new one.

Because it's may 9th...and not april.
You outta be the one documenting more carefully?
Linda B. 2013-05-09 16:13:52 Unknown
I managed to type "with" when I meant "will" and I see I spelled a word wrong. Oh boy.
Linda B. 2013-05-09 16:10:04 Unknown
How is it possible that you received this call on April 19, 2013? I am reading your comment on April 9, 2013. I only bring this up because I have been carefully and accurrately documenting my various calls from Portfolio and other pests. I don't owe anyone by the way. If you ever report these calls to the authorities, accuracy with matter.
