Thanks!!! You are a very wise and very smart person. I guess I shouldn't be so naive. I was all ready to stand my ground with these people, but..... when I finally got on the phone with them, I was intimated, and I got scared. I did call my local sheriff"s department, and they are going to forward their number to the attorney general.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

I too, have been receiving calls from these people. They left 3 voicemails on my phone in the past week. Automated messages about check fraud and a lawsuit. I finally called them back. A Steve told me I was being charged with check fraud over a closed bank account. I asked him what debt he is trying to collect on. He said Bayside Lending. I never heard of them, let alone took a loan out thru them. It was very scary cause they had all my info like social security number, home address, ect. This is causing me emotional distress. I don't know if I am the victim of a pay day loan scam, or identity theft.

Debt Collector
Received a voicemail from Forensic Check Services on two separate occasions in 1 week. Callers names were Jason Fields and Stephen Callahan, both were aggressive and rude told me I owed 850 on a loan from some bayside payday loan(never heard of it) then goes on to ask me "who took out the loan" in a very angry voice. I told them I knew it was a scam hung up on me and wouldn't answer when I called back. Then a week later called from 877-318-0965 and said I owed 500 for the same exact loan so I told them don't call me anymore with this scam crap hung up once again. Then received a phone call at my job ,with them leaving a automated message about a lawsuit. Both guys were disrespectful one was foreign the other black ,The black actually made a hit on me telling me I sounded good over the phone. These are scams from foreigners who are trying to get money 1. the company doesn't exist 2. the number doesn't exist and 3. They handle business very rudely which I know isn't professional so I know it isn't real.
