received call from this number just now 855-228-9924 as well as numerous others  in recent past. whenever the caller id displays:  "unknown name", "private caller", "washington d.c.", "member update", "boos michael", "jeff", "hrc", I don't answer, just let it ring 4 times, then the answering machine says "please leave a message"....no one ever does, but they are a glutton for punishment, I guess, because they just keep on calling.  I find that if you answer the are soliciting for donations and want you to "help them out with a donation of $200, $100, etc."  I have better places for my $$$$$ than to give any to these idiots!  

This thread is about political calls which are exempt from the DNC..  For political calls you need to contact the party's themselves and make them put you on their DNC list. It also helps to sign up for the PDNC..

If you are on the Do Not Call List (they say to give them 31 days to get it implemented on your phone) and you receive telemarker calls, call your state's Attorney General and ask them to handle it for you. That should eliminate the problem!

This number called me too.  They butchered the name of the person they were looking for and when I asked who was calling, they said it was a recorded line from the Republican National Committee.  Someone in the office donated money and now they call frequently.

I made the mistake of donating $45 dollars one time and I get calls every week!  Sometimes from more than one GOP group!  The GOP has plenty of wealthy members that can and should donate a s*** load of money to get Obama out!  Me, I'm still recovering from the last 5 years and have no spare change to give.

These morons are still calling (four times tonight so far) even though I blocked them two days ago.  I hope they wear themselves out.  I figure the more they call my blocked Panasonic phone, the less they're bothering somebody without blocking capability.

Hey 2 things, First I'm flogging the "DEAD HORSE" again! Giddy Yup!! The reason for the confusion on the 855 issue is that WIKIPEDIA states the policy of the 855 toll free number wrong!!  Second, it is the GOP! So I pick it up and and tell them why would I give money or vote for any group that allowed some idiot as obama to win the election and ruin this country?!?!  They hate hearing this. Voila!, no more calls!

I work in sales myself so I get what it's like to make sales calls, and I'm not rude about it when I get called, but I would prefer that they leave a message instead of continuously calling. It's just more professional.

Got 3-5 calls a day, at first when I called back I got a busy signal. Then I got an option to press 1 and be removed from their list, which I did five times. Finally answered yesterday and lady said she was with Republican Nat'l Party, I told her the number she was calling from is listed as being a pool supply house in Wisconsin and told her not to call me anymore. Seems to have been the end of it for now... Only took two weeks of getting call after harassing call with no message and no recourse... FIENDS!!

Just called it back and was immediately asked if I wanted to be put on the "Do Not Call List" - of course I did.  Telemarketer.

This number calls and then hangs if I answer.   Now I just let it ring.

Jay,  you are wasting your time.   It won't be 2 days and someone else will have read that on the internet and of course will report the same thing.   Who ever wrote that about the 855 number ought to be horsewhipped first,  then made to re-write and re-explain it so that a 5 year old can understand it.

NO it is not charged to anyone but the owner of the number.  Everytime this is put to rest,  someone brings up what they thought they read and we are back to whipping the dead horse all over again.  
Give MaBell a call and ask her!   She will tell you that you will never be charged a toll  for any phone call that you receive unless you have previously agreed with the carrier to accept the charges.  (Cell phones would be charged for minutes only)

Of the thousands of reported calls on this board,  there has not been a single report of anyone ever being billed for a call from 1-855....If there were,  I can assure you that you would have read about here and heard it screamed around the world.   I personally get several 1-855 calls each week.  Never have I been billed.
So.....until someone else resurects the Old Beaten Dead Horse named  1-855,  remember this:

NO ONE IS BILLED A PENNY EXCEPT THE OWNER OF THE 1-855 NUMBER AND THAT IS WHEN "THEY' RECEIVE RESPONDING INCOMING CALLS  INTO THE 1-855 NUMBER..

The 855 number is a reverse charge toll number. It's free for whoever is calling you, but you receive the toll charges on your statement.
Don't set the phone down, because you'll be charged for the minutes.

It's the Republican Party asking for donations.

Telemarketer?    Did they attempt to Sell You Goods or Services?  
Otherwise,  it is just a political call which is exempt under the Do Not Call Registry.

How do you know it's a Telemarketers if no one knows who it is that called?   Not every unwanted caller is a telemarketer.

Telemarketers. If you don't recognize the number let it go to voicemail.  If it is someone who needs to chat they will leave a message.  If it is a telemarketer, they won't.  And you'll know.

Unknown callers keep calling an office number and don't leave a message.

They call almost everyday and no one is there...I just pickup and immediately hang up. I should just lay the phone down and tie up their phone.
