YES!   Go to the bank and say you've been frauded.  Maybe they can reverse the charge.  Do it quicktime! Never give your credit card number to ANYONE over the phone!

Ok so should I cancel the credit card I made the payment with?

Request a statement in writing giving the full particulars of the debt and tell them it must be sent by US Mail only.  Otherwise don't give them any money.

What should I do? I got a call like that from Leah Hancock. I made a payment because the debt she called about I do owe. How could she know that?

They called me today!

They are indeed scammers, threaten you with court, blablah..this is all just used to scare you into paying whatever the amount may be..ignore them, report them.

received a recorded message from 855-230-2492 threatening me to  call some other number so that I can be sued.  

Real people will use real lawyers and not some fake sounding computer call threatening me.  Go pound salt buddy !

I recieved the same message. His last name was porter. His extension that he gave was 312. He stated it was urgent and that I have the person in question call him back. It was not for me but it was someone I knew. So is this a known scam?

I got the same exact message with my name and a different claim number.  I did call them back.  They claim that i had an outstanding account that they were trying to recover an outstanding balance.  They wanted to settle for 20% of the amount that I supposedly owed.  Otherwise they were going to take me to court.  I never had a credit account with the company that they claimed they were representing.  They are either trying to scam me or my credit was hacked.

Message left on my phone today:
?Christine Brooke peddy(?) this is a civil investigations unit. We are contacting you in regards to a complaint being filed against you personally went the claimant affidavit number 790181. Where you have been named a respondent in a court action and must appear. There is a contact number on file which you must call 8552302492. Please forward this information to your attorney in that the order to show cost contains a restraining order. You or your attorney will have twenty four to forty eight hours to oppose this matter. The claimant affidavit number once again is 790181. Call 8552302492. Thank you and good luck.?
I did a reverse look up on the number and it is unknown. Figured. Watch out and don't fall for this scam....no, I did not call her back. I DID report her to the FBI Cybercrime Division.

Received a vm, stating that I was a party in a named civil action and had 24 hrs for myself or my attorney to call back.  I did call back, the man on the line did not like my tone and told me that I had better watch it and that I did not know who I was speaking to.  I asked his name, he declined to give it.  Stated that he was coming to my house.  I called back and spoke to Richard, did not hear his last name clearly.  I gave him the case #, he stated that he was looking for a Peggy Kelly in Ga.  I am in Tx.  I told him that I wanted to leave a message for his manager, he hung up.  I have tried to find the ph# in reverse look up, it comes back as non existent.   This is not the first time I have received this type of call, always looking for someone else.  I have previously been able to use reverse look up to locate a name, not this time.  Anything to be done about this?  Especially the threat from the guy that said he was coming to my house.
