What's embarrassing is that the best job you can find requires you to bully and swindle people from a call center in South Asia, and then come running here with your "served at work" fright stories to a complaint website. What's frustrating is that you have the order of events reversed. First you call the relatives and the workplace, and *then* once the proper false shame and anxiety are stirred you might finally use the alleged debtor's personal number, which you had all along.

If you really want to feel "so frustrated", wait until more of your victims learn their rights and how to defend them from predatory lawbreaking fools like you.

I got a call from a blocked number leaving a message asking to verify my address and the address of a tenant. When I called back asking who the caller was and what organization he was with, he yelled something unintelligible and hung up. I called back to see what he wanted to yell at me about and to question who he was and what agency he represented. He refused to answer and started insulting me. He went nuts telling me how slow and scared I am. After trading insults for a few minutes he started screaming how I should "just do my job." When asked what my job was, he said it was to give his number to my tenant so she could call him. He screamed he was a litigation attorney. I proceeded to question his legitimate birth and the mental capacity of his mother. Then I hung up.

Obviously, this is a very angry scammer. Be careful.

You're right - they are scammers.  NO ONE calls ahead to let you know you'll be "served".  Refusal to disclose their address just confirms that they're trying to scam you.  If they are legitimate - which they are not - they've committed so many violations of the FDCPA that it isn't funny.  Claiming to be a government official, threatening that you'd appear in court, refusing to tell you what the court appearance is for.  Plus the heavy accent.  It all points to foreign scammers trying to frighten people into paying "fines" to make bogus charges or court cases go away.

Report the calls to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.  If they call back, tell them that they've been reported and that any calls they make will be recorded and given to your attorney (even if you don't have one) for multiple violations of the FDCPA.

Called my brother looking for me, claiming to be from the "Clerk of Courts." (Clerk of Court for what state/county? The caller wouldn't say... my bro lives in NY and I live in LA. SHADY)

I have not lived with my brother in about 10 years so I was suspicious. I called anyhow. The number is to a secretary who claims to use reference numbers to contact you with the right office, so I gave her the reference number left with my brother so she'd connect me. The person I spoke to was a male with a heavy accent. He said I was ordered to appear in court and acted surprised that I hadn't been served yet. I expressed my doubt, since calling my brother was the worst way to contact me and I've been married a while (they were using my maiden name). He said that the officer with my case had the means to track me down... but obviously they haven't. He didn't know where I lived and I didn't tell him. He wanted the last 4 digits of my social to unlock my file and tell me what I was wanted in court for. I told him I would not give him that and he got HOSTILE. He lost his temper and told me "Good luck in court in front of the judge" and hung up.

This is a FRAUD. The real Clerk of Courts would know how to contact me. I have bills and a mortgage in my name. I'm not exactly hiding from the law. Furthermore the reluctance to disclose their location is just ridiculous.

A block ID called my cell twice last week. The first time I answered but hung up...he called right back, and I sent him to voice mail. He left a message saying he was looking for some Brent guy (gave a last name, and address) said he had some legal documents he had to obtain. If he didn't hear back from him in a 24hr time period someone will go to the house addressed he listed, and or his work listing to obtain those legal documents. Or something like that?

I of course don't know this Brent guy, and I'm certainly not Brent so I didn't call back.

Today the block ID called back, and I answered he said the same thing he said in the voice mail. He asked me if I knew Brent I said no, then he said if I knew the address I said no, and that I lived in a bogus town... the creepy part is he thanked me for giving him my location. (Thank goodness I didn't)

I got 4 calls from them today, came up blocked/unknown number. They left a msg giving my name/address and roommates name and that documents would be filed with the court concerning roommate. They also called his brother with same msg. We returned call they answered "corporate office" no other name. Very vague with info. They want person who it supposedly concerns to call them before tomorrow afternoon. I asked the lady why would you give someone's complete address on an answering machine, they could have called a wrong number and gave anyone mine and roommates name and address. She said its public knowledge through the courts. Then she hung up on me. Does anyone know where you report this, besides posting it on here?

My ex boyfriend received a call from this number looking for me saying that first it was about some court documents then that changed to a warrant for my arrest!!
He gave them my phone number and address.
This number also called my land lord saying I had been served papers ( which I never have) and they were going to remove me from the property if they did not get a response!!
So I called the number trying to figure out what the heck this is about and every time I call it rings like 20 times then a message comes on saying its corporate company or some bs... So I decided to call my police dept as well as my sheriffs dept and they believe it is a scam and said DO NOT give any personal information!!! They said they could be making up false debts to scare people to pay for something that does not exist!! I'm not wanted and I definitely don't have a warrant lol so I'm pretty sure this is a scam!! Funny how the posts on this number have all been literally from one week! SCAM!!

Ask for proof of debt by mail. Not fax, text, or email. By US Mail. The letter must contain their name, address, phone number, amount of debt, who it was with, and it must be signed. Then you'll know.

Called and left a message leaving my address and saying they had a time sensitive document being filed in the court's office and if I did not return the call they would assume the address was correct and proceed with delivering the documents to the mentioned address.
