Well, that's a relief. I know when "a real company with real clients" makes false threats regarding fake debts, I prefer to send a real summons to a real place and win a real judgment for real serious FDCPA violations.

I just got a call from Jason Santos from this number. He said he is from the department of processing and serving. He said he wanted to know when I would be home so that I could be served. When has a process server ever called someone to tell them that they are coming? Try harder next time Jason!

This is a scam call phishing for financial information, hoping someone will be dumb enough to give them their bank#.  Don't be so judgmental of people who have fallen on hard times.  Telling an unemployed person "just get a job and pay your bills" is like telling an asthmatic to "just breathe" when they're having an asthma attack.  And a lot of these so-called "legitimate bill collectors constantly call the wrong number and won't believe they don't have the right person.  It's called harassment and violation of collection laws.  Not everyone who gets harassed by bill collectors is a deadbeat.

PPM is a real company. They also operate "Legal Outsourcing".
I recently fired them after finding out that they were collecting more on my files than they were remitting.
They are however, a real company with real clients.

I received a call today from and agent from Legal OutSource. they called restricted so of course I didn't answer. when I listened to the voicemail the lady said that they were trying to serve papers on me bc someone had filed a complaint and that they would be attempting to serve them again tomorrow between 9 and 5 and that I should be available or make sure that someone over the age of 18 is available to receive my court documents. when I called back the same lady answered the phone that had left the message and after leaving that detailed message she told me that she didn't know the details of the claim and that her manager would call me back after he got finished with a conference call. what's going on?

Just received a voice mail from mel brusard(not sure if spelling is right). He said I will be served with in a few days and said when they will be in this area. It upset me because I am on disability and just got my  check. Not sure if I will have enough money to pay my bills and them.(Whoever they are.) They sounded like they were going to arrest me. I can't think of what I might owe that could be so serious. Thanks to whoever started this post. It helps :-)

"Anthony Johnson" called my work and asked to speak to HR. I happened to answer the phone and asked for his info in case he got disconnected. Said he wanted to know our company policy for serving an employee on the premises with legal paperwork. When he spoke to HR, he did not identify the company he was calling for (big red flag to HR). HR told him that is not allowed (legit like local police or Marshall's are allowed.....sorry, jerk) and it must be done off the property. DO NOT call these people back, DO NOT give them any personal info. DO NOT let them intimidate you into paying. This is a bottom feeder collection agency that buys old debts that are past the SOL (as one commenter posted above) and are using (illegally, of course) threats of pending legal/court action to get you to pay. They are counting on people not being aware of the statute of limitations rule or even their rights when it comes to debt collection, and are trying to strong-arm money from you.  Once you make a payment, it will open the old debt up all over again, starting with the date a payment is made, and you will be held accountable for it. In the past, these morons have threatened to have my driver's license "attached" or some crap. No one but your state's DMV can suspend, revoke, cancel, or put a hold on a driver's license, and not some debt collectors.

UPDATE!

according to a very good attorney the statute of limitations in california where theyare calling from is 4 years from date of last payment ......and in arizona it is 6 years from date of contract.....however this guy claimed he was calling about a bank that i never banked with ...when i called thier fraud dept they said there has never been a claim ......this company called my attorney at hid office and claimed i was mean to them and that the debt was real ....PROBLEM my attorney knows i was not in the country at the time !!!

when i informed them i was also reporting thier activity to the police they asked me why !?

the police and state attorneys will be looking into you scumbags !!!! and I am personally suing you for a clear (recorded) violation of the fair trade agreement ACT .....verbal threats and intimidation and identity theft !!!

each call will cost them 1500 dollars and up to 5000 for violations of the fair trade act !!!! and legal fees ect ect ...emotional distress .....WAS IT WORTH IT FOR A FALSE  500 DOLLAR CLAIM ?

this guy said YOU OWE "ME" money !!!! as if it was for his own pocket !!!

AND THE CLEAR STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS IS UP !!!! EVEN IF IT WAS MY ACCOUNT (WASNT) I WOULD OWE YOU NOTHING !!!!

NOW YOU HAVE BROUGH THE BANK INTO IT AND THEY WILL BE SEEKING DAMAGES ALSO !!!

Yes....don't call him back &  don't play his scam game.  If he calls you back,  tell him that you know it's a scam and don't waste your and his time on it.  He wants you to panic and call back that number so he can offer you a settlement to stop legal action.  The have you get a prepaid Walmart Card or western union and shoot him the cash without a paper trail.  There are too many innocent people who fall for this scam,  and that's why these jerks stay in business.  Be agressive when you talk to him and don't believe a word he says.
And for God's sake,  don't cave in.  IT IS A SCAM!!!

Great advice posted by an attorney on:
http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-718-732-0174

"IF they do not provide you with the verification of the debt, the debt is invalid and not subject to collection.  PAY NOTHING TO ANYBODY UNLESS THEY PROVIDE YOU WITH WRITTEN VERIFICATION OF THE DEBT, AND ONLY THEN IF YOU FEEL THE DEBT IS VALID - otherwise, let them sue you for the debt, as a real law firm will only bring a legal action on a truly valid debt".

Debt Collector
My supervisor and mgmt team called me in there office to tell me these people are looking for me to serve me paper for a lawsuit. They told them the have no address or phone number for me. They also called my brother in law and said the same thing. I called Mr. Wilson back and he said on the phone it was a debt from 2010 I asked for him to email the orginal documents so I can look over them. The debt says 2009. I don't know if I have this debt or not. Has anyone paid them or is there a place I should contact to verify this is a true debt.
I also thought they were not alowed to discuss serving me to employer? hmm any advise would really help. Thanks

I received a voicemail message from a Mel Broussard saying he needed an employment reference and left a file number.  I assumed they were a placement agency and returned the call. They were obviously trying to find an ex-employee, not seeking a reference.  He said the company was Professional Portfolio Management and I gather they were trying to collect a debt or perhaps locate this individual to serve them (as others have posted).
