This number calls, rings once or twice, both home and office...doesn't even give time to answer it.  Never leaves a voice mail.  A REAL bank would leave a voice mail message...I have received such from Presidents Choice Financial, National Bank, Diners Club, CIBC...so, if this IS RBC...and they can't be bothered to even let the phone ring more than once, and if I DO answer there's nobody there...well, even if I DO owe them money, they can screw themselves

It's a scam...everyone, be careful! if they phone you, don't entertain them and just go to your bank to make sure.

They called me, so I called the number back and they said that they are RBC Collections and said they needed to look up my accounts.  Asked for all of my information, after I hung up the phone I was thinking, RBC never asks for my card number over the phone...I always type it in the automated message.  So I called RBC security, and sure enough...1-855-272-1211 is NOT an RBC number....its a scam.  If you gave them your information like I did call RBC right away and cancel your Credit Card and ask for a new card...

I called Royal Bank and they said they have no company numbers that start with 1-855-XXX-XXXX. It is not Royal Bank...

After contacting the Royal Bank several times and speaking to multiple departments, there is no proof to substantiate the validity of this or these types of numbers.  Just because someone says they are RBC collections, does not mean it is true.  Are they saying RBC collections or Royal Bank of Canada Collections.

The scenario plays out the same, multiple phone calls per day and no message 99% of the time.  The 1% of the time, a live human voice leaves a message and RBC only leaves an automated message.  If in doubt, then please contact your bank through a known number as listed on the banks website or on the back of your bank card.
