Once again....it has struck an innocent  SHILL..........."LOAN DEMENTIA"........................
That horrible disease that has so often struck those shills operating on this board.   They take out a loan,   forget they took it out,   until some kindly collection/scammer (aka  sewer sucking low life maggot)  calls them and reminds them.  Then they see the light and are redeemed as they pay what ever is asked and received total physical and mental satisfaction.

Go back under the bridge Shill.

This company called my office's main switchboard today when I was covering for the Receptionist.  Caller ID shows them popping up now as "U.S. Dept of Fraud" (there is no such government department of course....but it looks official).  Since I work for a healthcare provider office, we take any allegation of fraud with utmost seriousness.  Since it was a recorded message and obviously didn't care that it got our inbound call recorded message, I only got the tail end of the recording where it stated to call the 855# to validate this fraud case & be prepared to identify yourself.
I handed the info off to a Sr. V.P. who found this to be a scam.   If they're identifying themselves as a bogus Federal Agency (U.S. Dept of whatever), wouldn't that constitute a federal offense of some sort?

These people are relentless. They call and threaten you with fraud charges and FTC penile code viloations never say who the message is actually for. They say I have a payday loan that was over 7 years old. I did not take out a payday loan . They have my ssn which is very scary. Girl told me I must have had a memory lapse. Very rude . Threatened to put me in jail.

The name used is Mr. DUBios. the police are not worried about filing reports as there are way to many of these calls going on,As a society our law makers have to find a better way to deal with this stuff. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

This phone number is with "American Acceptance".  They are a scam.  No one can have you arrested for owing a debt in the first place.  Luckily, I have found a little extra information about them.  American Acceptance, PO Box 1244, Buffalo, NY, 14215  and  American Acceptance 2608 Bailey Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14215.  A couple of extra numbers they have called from or asked me to call back to are 469-730-4332,  855-274-6648 and 646-582-0080.  Their Fax number is 716-566-6598.  Call your local police and file a report.  You'd be surprised how many investigators actually have a personal stake in this kind of thing.  (It's happened to their family, or co-workers, or friends, or even just that they have had trouble catching them in the past) For the investigator on my case, it's all of the above.  With this information that I managed to track down for him, the investigator said he can make these people pay for what they have done.  It isn't easy, but if you just keep trying to track them down, and wear them down.  Refuse to talk to them at all until they give you their info, and then tell them that you still won't talk to them until you have verified their info online.  Then demand that they give you the original creditor information.  They will try not to, but if you insist and refuse to continue the conversation, they will.  Just keep calm.  Their job is to make you as emotional as possible.  They will often scream at you and hang up.  Just let them.  Give them a few minutes and call them back.  Claim that you were holding for information and your cell lost signal.  They hate that.  All the time, keep calm.  State that you do not owe this.  Tell them that you are going to research the original creditor.  It may take a little googling and extra digging, but try to do it while you're on the phone with them.  Tell them that you have the original creditor's number.  If you have a conferencing or three way calling feature, use it.  Call the original creditor and find out if you have any outstanding bills with them.  Even if they sold the account to a collection agency, they will still be able to find your information.  If you ever had an account, they will be able to pull you up.  So far I've dealt with 5 of these "companies".  I've found that the best way to beat them is to prove them wrong when you are on the phone with them.  Not your word against theirs, but actual proof, from outside agencies.  This is where it gets really fun.  After you have cleared the call with the original creditor, call the local police, but do not connect all of the calls until after the police have answered the phone and you have given them a brief explanation.  You don't even have to hold for an investigator.  All calls into the dispatcher are screened, recorded, and entered into record for the specific purpose of being used as evidence if necessary.  When you connect the calls, tell the collection agency that you are now on a recorded line (just to cover your butt).  Then continue with the conversation.  Staying calm all the while and just insisting that you have already proven to them that you do not owe this.  If they insist that you owe it (and they will), ask for proof again.  This is usually the point where they start yelling and screaming, and verbally assaulting you.  Some are even dumb enough to threaten physical harm.  That's where the police will happily butt into the conversation, and inform them that they were on not just any recorded line, but a police monitored, recorded line.  They WILL hang up, and if they ever call back again, insist that they have the wrong number, but you were contacted by the original owner of this number and given a forwarding number to give to friends who may call.  Ask if they are a friend.  They'll likely say, "yes".  At that point give them the number to the FTC complaint hotline, your local police department, or some other such number.  It will get the message across that they don't want to push you any further.

PS.  Just a note.  The call type requested below, does not have an option for Scum of the Earth Scammer, so I noted it as Debt Collector because that is what they try to present themselves as.
