Wow, Tom Murphy gets around. Apparently, he's in Illinois too. I put the bullhorn up to the phone; we'll see if that stops 'em!

I received the EXACT same message, only using my name and the name of my county.  If I'm not wrong, your county is in PA... mine is in WI.  It's quite amazing that this one man is able to be a process server in two different states so very far apart.  Not to mention, he apparently has been "at my house" in Wisconsin on the same date that he was telling people in other states that he was at their houses.  No, he was not at my house because no one knocked and there was nothing on the door.  Also, this is not the first time he called.

The first time he called, I spoke to him on the phone and he started reading off my public court file from 2004 trying to verify that he knew who I was. He said I probably knew what he was calling about.  Then he claimed that I was being sued for check fraud.  I said I know nothing about this, and he told me he wasn't surprised because he talked to another woman earlier who also said she hadn't received a bill from this same company.  The he told me that I "sound like a decent person who isn't trying to avoid their bills" so I should give this number a call and resolve it with the "plaintiff" so that he doesn't have to serve me.   I kept asking who was suing me, he said he didn't have the name of the company who was serving me.  Really??!  How can you serve papers if a plaintiff's name isn't listed and no suit has been filed (I checked my public record)? Furthermore, how do you not know the company name, but you know that you spoke to another woman about a debt from the same company who also didn't receive her bill??? The first time he called a month ago, he gave me a number to call them at 855-516-2420.  I decided to see what company this was and called them restricted from different numbers repeatedly.  Every time it went to a generic, robotic voicemail message that did not give any identifying information whatsoever.  Now, he has called me over a month later (after he supposedly was "at my door" the last time).  He called 3 times back-to-back on a restricted number and finally left the exact same message you got.  He made no reference to having previously spoken to me.  This time, he gave me a number to call of 844-285-2617.  I'm not even going to try to call that number, as this is clearly a scam.  Whether I do have bad debt to collect on or not is irrelevant, as he clearly has NOTHING to do with any real debt or he would have really "been at my door" by now and he would have given the same phone number.

Flags:
1. Received the same message, months apart, for different phone numbers
2. Supposedly at my house the same day that he was telling people in other states that he was at theirs.
3. Didn't have the company name of who he was supposedly serving me for.
4. No lawsuits have been filed against me this entire time
5. Process servers do not warn you that they are coming so that you can avoid them (as well all have noted)

I'm beyond irritated.  These calls are obnoxious, mean, and fraudulent.  If you do talk to this guy and he starts spouting off former court filings from your public record (i.e. "did you resolve your debt with ABC Co. after they filed against you?"), do not give him any information and do not think this means he has a legitimate claim against you.  Court records are public and some states, including mine, have free online look-up.

Finally, I absolutely cannot stand his voice.  He sounds like he is trying to be Colonel Sanders or something.  That was totally unrelated, but I'm angry so I thought I would point that out.

Just received a call at my work from a Tom Murphy that told our receptionist that he was at my house waiting for me.  Anyone have any additional information on these creeps?  I called the number he gave me and chewed them out and said I would do no dealing over the phone....mail it to me.  Lady I talked to said her name was Miss Kelly.  I said "thats it, just miss Kelly?".  She replied yes.  Asked the company name and was told it was ACR.  When I asked what ACR stood for she said it was not an abbreviation...just ACR.  I contacted my wife, who was home all morning, and she told me there was nobody that came to the house.  I have my doubts that Tom was actually at my house.  When I told him I was 5 minutes away and would meet him there he said he had numerous other appointments today and just gave me the number for ACR which is 1-855-283-4575.  This is not the first time I have been involved in a scam like this and I think its time to get my lawyer friends involved in a suit against them.

You have been notified of NOTHING!  Even IF you did owe money, a written notification delivered by mail or by a server( they do not call first) is required.   If in doubt, call the Bucks County civil court.
