This is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  I still get calls for my mom as well.  She died several months ago but had not taken a phone call in years.

Started getting calls from this number and 855-424-7029 last week. I have not answered but based on here it sounds like it's the LLS yet again. At one time I had 11 different numbers calling from their "hired help" to ask for donations. I filled out the form to be removed and they still called. I wrote their CEO and he responded with a "so sorry" but the calls still go on. This is a charity that I will never give to since they never listen to me!

I called the number back and it says it is the National Lukemia Association and if I wanted my number removed to enter it... I did and it says they will remove it but the law says they have up to 30 days to do so but they will do everything in their power to do so within 2 days or as soon as possible or something to that ... try it.. see if it works.

Even when you answer, no one there.

How do I stop them from calling? I put them on call blocking, but after 1 or 2 weeks there  # gets thru the block calls.

Called twice in two days. Did not leave a message.

They called around 10AM 6/11/13.  Phone rang twice then stopped.  I don't pick up any calls that I don't recognize.  The phone ringing at all times of the day is still an invasion of my privacy.  I'm on the National Do Not Call List.  What's the point of registering with them if I still get the calls?

Got call. Didn't pick up. No message. I never answer these, but it seems that in the last week this website is telling me that a handful of different numbers are about leukemia.

Answer and say you work at a funeral home desperately in need of more sales on coffins. They'll stop calling if they think you support anything that might be fatal. lol

It is the Leukemia Society. I just made a donation yesterday and the calls started this morning. I called their number and entered my number into their DO NOT CALL list.,

I would not pick up on these calls.  After getting numerous calls from this number and no voice messages on my machine, I researched the number.  Nothing specific came up, but areacode.org states the following about 855 area codes:

Area code 855 is a future area code reserved for toll-free calls in which the calling party is not charged. Instead, the telephone carrier charges the cost of the call to the called party. Toll-free numbers, such as 855 numbers, have applications such as technical support, customer service, and personal use...

In other words, you get billed if you answer.

Call is from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and their annual solicitation for donations.   Here is an easy way to get the calls to stop.  
1. Call the "Toll Free Call" number back.  
2. Listen to the recorded message and press "1" to be removed from the calling list.
3. Enter your 10-digit phone number when prompted.
4. After your number is read back to you, press "1" to confirm.

You will then hear a message telling you that by law they have 30 days to remove you from the list, however they will try to do so in the next 2 or 3 days.  

Like everyone else, I have been getting multiple calls from various toll free numbers, all of which are from this organization.  As a past contributor and as a sponsor for individuals running in several "Team in Training" marathon fund raising events, I don't mind contributing.  However, the calls are coming at inconvenient times and when I have answered, there was no one there.

It displayed as "Private Name" followed by this phone number. No one was on the line when I answered.

I called the numberback to find who it was before adding them to my block list, since they are hiding their identity on caller id.
