The name of the company is either Global capital services or GSA. GSA is still doing business, I am in the middle of filing a claim. I wasn't as quick as you all and I actually paid them. They had all my info and I thought they legally had the account in there office. Any help anyone can give me would be great. Maybe we can get them.

Michelle, our stories are identical down to how many years ago we paid our debt and our original creditor. I received 4 phone calls back to back and "Tina Banks didn't leave a vice mail until the last call. I listened to that msg and was scared out of my wits. She told me that she was an investigator with the state and was not a bill collector. I called Tina Banks back within a few minutes. I verified the information they had in my file thinking I was speaking to with someone in a position of authority. She proceeded to tell me that Cashnet USA had filed a civil suit and named me as a defendant. She also stated that Cashnet USA could potentially press criminal charges against me for check fraud due to having insufficient funds in my account and failing to repay the loan. I then informed Tina Banks that I had settled the debt with the third party collection agency that Cashnet sold my debt to. I told her I had a letter from the 3rd party collector acknowledging my payment and release from that debt. Upon hearing this, Tina asked me to find, then fax the letter to her within 24 "business" hours, whatever that means lol. She stated that she would place a hold on my case and would not "process" it. After speaking with Tina,I researched the phone # she called from and found this forum. I called Tina Banks for the 2nd time and that's when things got ugly. I asked her for the name, address and business license # and she replied with, "what is this for? Why are you asking for this info?" I stated that it was for personal verification.  She gave the name and fake address, but refused to give me the business license # because she "isn't the owner." I followed that up with asking her to further clarify how she got my "case." She said it was submitted by the client. I asked who the client was and she became irate. I stated again that Cashnet had sold my debt, which means the have no legal claim to it. At this point, she was yelling into the phone that I had what I needed for my "little verification." She then said that I was supposed to be faxing the debt release letter, but it didn't matter anyway because she had "already submitted" my file to be processed. I'm not sure what happened to the 24 business hours or hold on my case, as it was only 10 minutes between my two phone calls to her lol. She then told me to bring the letter to court and hung up on me. Victory was mine!!

I got a call from this number. They left an automated voicemail with a "case number" stating that I was a defendant. I called them back and he stated that I was facing felony charges for a debt that I owe, but that if I made a payment of $570 that day that they would not press charges. He had my social, DOB, address and everything so I assumed it was legit. Of course I was worried, so I gave him my debit card number. He also stated that he had sent me a certified letter regarding the debt and asked if I had gotten it. First of all, if it was certified, he would know if I got it or not. He read me back my address and it was correct. I have lived at this address for 15 years. After speaking with my family members, I realized that it seemed like a scam as they are not allowed to threaten you with jail time for a debt. I called back and spoke with a David Danes. I asked for the name of the company and he told me "Arbitration Financial". I also asked for a physical address for them. I googled the address I was given, and there is no such address. I called both the Attorney General of Texas and the Secretary of State. These people are not bonded to collect debts in Texas, so what they are doing is illegal. I also looked under the name "AFG, LLC" and they are not bonded under that name either. I immediately called my bank and cancelled my card. I called these people back and told them that I spoke with the Attorney General, Secretary of State, and my lawyer and that I had been advised to not submit any payment until I received some sort of documentation from them. Mr. Lambert called me back this morning and when I told him the information I had discovered, he became very agitated. I told him I would not submit payment until I had documentation. He said, "Well we sent you a certified letter but you told me that you did not live at that address anymore so it was sent back." I told him that I had never said that I moved and I have been at the same address for 15 years. He proceeded to tell me that when we spoke the first time I told him I had moved and that I was a liar and that was why they recorded phone calls. Umm, no! I then asked him the name of the company and he said "Arbitration Legal Services" I told him I had spoke with someone already who said it was "Arbitration Financial" and that they gave me a non existent address. He got very quiet and asked me who told me that. I asked him if he was bonded to collect debts in Texas and he said that he was. I then told him that I looked under all of the company names I was given and there was no such bond. I said that they would be getting no money from me until they sent me proof. He then proceeded to yell and me and tell me that I could handle it in court. These people are scammers! Their stories do not add up or make any sense. They cannot threaten you with criminal charges for a debt!!! If they call you, report them to your Attorney General's office and the FTC!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a call last Tuesday from a Doug Baynes. He also called my mom and my sisters cell phones, didn't call my house phone or my husband, which is weird to begin with because I only list my cell, my husbands cell and my house phone as my contact numbers. He said to call him back at 855-317-2299 ext 1009 as soon as I got his message regarding a serious legal matter that he had to turn over to the authorities to press charges by the end of the business day. I got another call on Thursday from the same man, asking about a debt from 4 years ago. One- in the original message he states he has to turn his decision in by the end of that business day, yet it was two days later and he was still calling me? Two- why would he be calling me about a debt from 4 years ago when I have had no notices in the mail or by phone for this debt, and the debt was already paid?
I pulled my credit report and nothing unusual shows up, I called my local police station to check for a warrant and nothing comes up. After reading all of these notes, I will not continue to worry about it. I have now blocked the 704 area coded number they call from!!

I received a call from 704-665-0083.  The lady left a voice mail saying that she is an investigator Wanda Williams from the investigators unit regarding possible charges to be filed in Dallas County.  It is very important that  she reach  Connie Jordan regarding these charges so I can make sure she gets the appropriate information she will need to give to her attorney before being engaged by local authorities.

She requested a call back to 855-317-2299 ext. 1004

I do not know this person nor what this is all about.

I called back the number and the guy said that the lady stepped out for a break but he asked what the name was and verified my number from his caller id and said he would get it removed.  I think it sounds like a debt collector.

message from Marion(?) Lambert, to call 855-317-2299, extension 1006. Referenced 201310106, complaint against a social security number (right!). When I called 855-317-2299, she answered "Marion Lambert". I didn't have to punch in an extension. She said she was with Arbitration Financial. She said some company had retained her as an Arbitrator and after asking multiple times if this was regarding a debt, she said no, it's a legal matter. I'm not an attorney but legal matters are not initiated by leaving voice messages, there would need to be some kind of written notice (such as delivery by the local Constable).

Per Alfalfa's post, above:

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

The origin of the call was (704) 665- 0083 and the woman claimed to be Wanda Williams an investigator for the Investigations Unit for Middlesex County. She wanted me to call (855) 317-2299 ext. 1004 to get information before criminal charges were filed. She never stated what type of charges. When I did a reverse phone number check on the origin of the call the acronym AFG LLC came up. It's possible the company name that was identified had nothing to do with the call. I can't be sure.

The call back number of 855-317-2299 called my parents home, in laws home and me directly threatening me saying a company they are representing is going to take me to court and file felony and civil actions against me.
Asked for all info, pulled my credit report, and contacted a lawyer... there is nothing on my report for this info they are accusing me of.  Sounds like a scam to pay 560.25 by close of business or they are going to take me to court.
