Received a call at the hospital I work at - when I informed them we were a healthcare organization, they panicked, apologized and hung up.

Left no message.

telemarketers calling  and saying they represent a charity are NOT  FROM THE CHARITY THEY ARE GETTING PAID handsomely  to make these calls and they are a FOR PROFIT CORPORATION..

STOPT THE BS.. THE 855 NUMBERS ARE FROM TELEMARKETERS.. STOP ANSWERING THEIR CALLS

i stopped contributing once i found out the CEO of ADA MAKES 800K per year and he lives in Northern virginia  why is head of charity paid such a sum of money.. I COULD UNDERSTAND 200-300K  BUT NOT 600-800K PER YEAR THAT IS OUTRAGEOUS. they should stop paying these excesses for salaries of administrators who do nothing but employ outsourced telemarketing companies to leach off the younger people. NO ONE i know in the CHARITABLE INDUSTRIES CAN JUSTIFY THEM GETTING PAID THAT KIND OF MONEY. STOP GIVING THE SALARIES WILL COME DOWN.

Charities are exempt from the DO-NOT-CALL list.  Also, ANY organization you ever gave a donation to, or ANY company you ever did business with, these groups are allowed to contact you, regardless of the DNC list.

The number calls my phone at least once a day every day. The phone rings exactly 3 times then disconnects. I called back and was forwarded to voice mail with no indication who it is. I demanded to be removed.

Called at 8AM on a Saturday morning.

The posters are correct about all the various numbers out of the 855 Area Code, but this group fundraises FOR the American Diabetes Association. I once read that they keep 70% or so of monies raised, but the ADA feels that any operating money they themselves receive is the price of doing business.

I once had the fundraising group put me on their Do Not Call list, but a string of calls in May and August showed me that my number is no longer on that list.

Knowing they were "legitimate" in terms of raising money ? however small a percentage ? for the ADA, I went to their site, entered into a chat in which I was given a number to call ? 1-877-232-4020 ? an actual part of the ADA. She found my number on their list and put in the DNC order, but said it takes up to 30 days for it to go through.


Use it.

They have been calling for weeks using this number along with 855-677-4287.  There isn't anyone there when we answer...just air.

Called identified herself as from the American Diabetes Assoc. Wanted me to mail letters to my neighbors asking for donations. I said no and asked that I not be called again. On my called ID the number is 855-319-0224. I called it right back and got a message "sorry we missed your call". I hung on and the automated voice said to enter my number to be removed. I did but when the voice repeated the number to confirm it was completely different from my number! I attempted this 3 times and each time the voice got it wrong. I finally hung up.

 but have not heard from 2 of yours.  Theses are from the ADA.  I have a relative with Diabetes who rode with the Tour For the Cure and wanted to make a contribution.  She lives 3 states away so I went to the ADA site and typed in her name and her group popped up.  I made my contribution and started receiving phone calls.  All hang-ups.  The only way I knew it was ADA was searching the nos.  I also got emails and found a phone no. on one which I searched and seemed real.  I called and told them if they wanted any more money from me, they needed to stop with the calls as I would never give to a telemarketer.  He admitted that they do hire them to make calls.  He said he would do what he could.  the calls stopped for awhile now they are coming at least once a day in rotation like yours.  I didn't want to tell m relative because I know she will feel bad but it's to the point where I think she should know.  Theses calls are from CA; the earlier ones from MI.

Called AGAIN on this number, TODAY.  Have ALSO called FOUR OTHER TIMES, from FOUR OTHER 855 numbers over the last seven days:

These numbers ALTERNATE and have started to repeat themselves.

This is LIKELY A SCAM; this might be PRETENDING to be a 'legit' charity, but REMEMBER, when you 'give' through a TELEMARKETER, 80% OR MORE of your money goes to the TELEMARKETER and *NOT* the so-called 'charity.'   SO, YOU ARE PAYING THE TELEMARKETER TO HARASS YOU, LITERALLY!

Also, the "ADA" is one of the WORST RATED 'charities' on CharityNavigator. com; a 1 out of FOUR which is a FAILING GRADE (4 is BEST.)  Even if your money went DIRECTLY to them, and NOT the TELEMARKETER, you are paying for a CEO's MILLION DOLLAR SALARY.

Called while I was out; no message left on home land line/ans. mach.  If this IS the ADA, I am OUTRAGED.  I told them several WEEKS ago to STOP calling.  They agreed they would.  THIS IS A $10,000 FINE with the FCC for VIOLATING THIS.  I'm gonna REPORT this and PUSH for them to be FINED!!!

Any call received from an unknown 800 number, in this case 855-319-0224, is not answered.
We have a feature on our Frontier telephone service that allows us to block unwanted calls (after the first call) like this. so far, it's working.

This is the American Diabetes Assoc.  If you call them, they will remove your number (theoretically) within thirty days.   We'll see ~

I meant to add that they have been calling me every day this week, with only dead air when I answer. At least there was a live person at the other end of the line this time. I told him I couldn't help this time. I prefer to send direct donations to the diabetes association (and I have), rather than pester my neighbors.

Paid solicitor for the American Diabetes Association. They want you to mail letters to your neighbors asking them for donations.
