These people are scamming criminals.  No legitimate process server calls ahead to give you advance notice that they are serving you -- sounds kind of counterproductive don't you think?  It is also illegal to leave voicemails saying you will be served/sued/etc...

Read up on your rights under the FDCPA and don't fall prey to these scammers!

I received a voice mail from a james that really shook me up.  I gave me a case number sc###### and said that I was going to be served some legal papers. I am not sure what this is but when calling the number 855-361-6791 I got a general mailbox number.  Am I going to be served something? or is this really a cruel collection attempt???  The name of the agency he claimed was us process service.

I initially received a call from a "Restricted" number. The guy on the other end left his name (which I could not understand because it was muffled). Left 855-699-6697 as a call back, said they were filing a civil suit against my wife and left a case number. My wife called the number and was told she had reached Steinberg and Associates. This was AFTER they answered the phone, "Corporate Office" and transfered her around a bit. He told her she owes a debt with Bank of America back from 2009. He told her she needs to pay or that she will be in court next week. He kept putting her on hold, telling her he needed to speak with one of the attorneys there. He finally told her that she could settle her $4000 debt for $1000. She told him she needed something in writing, in which he immediately switched tactics and told her, "Nevermind. We'll just let the court deal with it." She finally managed to received a letter that he sent her via email during the call. There was a different 855 number posted at the top of their letterhead, which did not look legit. It looked like something someone had typed up on Microsoft Word.

She hung up the phone and called the county clerk's office of where we live and they said they have no such case filed against her.

I would say this is definitely a scam and would steer clear of these people. We figure we'll only buy it if a) we get a legit letter from the clerk's office and b) will only deal directly with the company in whom the debt is with.

I called him back and told him to NOT call us again or that I would report him. He became beligerent with me and threatened to call the DA office on me. I told him to go ahead and he hung up the phone.

They are either swindlers or a very shady collection agency. I attempted to find them online and could find nothing.

Received a call from this number on 10-11-13, and the caller, a woman, was very vague and evasive about the reason for the call, which was for another employee.  She eventually said that it was about a county legal claim.  I arrived here after a google search on the number.  I assume it was a collection agency.

Received message with this return call number from a Randy Miller.  Tried to call back but just get an IVR.  Threatens SC-100 in Florida.  After speaking with an attorney, they have no jurisdiction as we do not live in FL, never have, own nothing there, and offer nothing other than threats on the voicemail.  Leave a claim number as well but offer nothing else.  Cannot even understand where they are calling from as they muffle that but the rest of the entire call is perfectly enunciated.  This is wrong.  This is scare tactics and against the law.

Interesting call. They are calling regarding collections. They give you a different approach (rather than saying your going to jail). They call in a one 1 punch. First call says they are calling from "Count Legal Claims" and leave you a number to call and a reference number. Then you call the number and they say they have been approved to file suit. They offer a settlement to avoid all the court cost. Maybe legit...but still sneaky and still apply pressure to settle over the phone. And by the way....they offer nothing in advance in the way of paper work. I told them I wanted details in writing before I GIVE up my debit card info or settle for anything in any amount.
