If this is indeed UHC and they are calling about preventive care, it is likely not a scam. I was part of a third party company last year that assisted UHC members with Medicare plans on staying up to date with preventive care. It is part of the Medicare Stars program where insurance companies get a rating based on the percentage of Medicare members that have 1 or preventive tests done. We called their members and based on UHC records, asked if they had tests like colonoscopies or mammograms done and if so, with whom, so that UHC could then look for those claims. Yes, we had to verify demographic information even though WE called. We are dealing with YOUR personal health information. All we asked was to verify your first and last name and YEAR of birth. UHC did not give us any other information. Some members were fine with it, others were not. We didn't care either way, if you didn't want to verify information we had no issue with that and simply thanked you for your time.

UHC since started this program within their company, they did not contract out to a third party. If you are getting these calls, they are legitimate calls. If you don't want to answer their questions, just state you don't want to give out your information. They will thank you and place you on a do not call lsit.

These calls are apparently from Health Associates. United Health Care sent a letter out saying they would be contacting you to set up an appointment to come to your house and possibly "pre-examine" you (but not a doctor), apparently to see if you are really you and have all the ailments you may be receiving care for.

This MAY be a legitimate attempt to be checking up on the hospitals and doctors that receive UHC payments, etc.

Somewhere, somehow, it just feels like UHC subscribers, in other worlds, you and I) may be being used and our private health matters detailed, for a large corporates benefit. This raises alarms to many of us.

I have received calls from this number, I finally called them back, did not like their questions, I was very evasive , she said she would call me back...I called UHC representative  and was advised that I did not
have to answer any questions or give any info to anyone...Can't wait for them to call me  back'

said they were hired by my insurance company to keep tract of preventative care such as colonoscopy or other questionable and  dangerous medical procedures. You might as well drink the water out of public washing machine when the water failed to drain.

Yeah, they claimed to be representatives of UHC, but I got suspicious when they needed me to verify personal information and I hung up. If THEY are calling ME, I expect them to have all this information on a monitor right in front of them, otherwise I tell them nothing.

Received a call from 855-424-1400, Health Associates, on 10/11/12 at 6:41PM claiming they are "agents' of UnitedHealthcare but providing false info and asking personal questions. When challenged the woman to prove who she is, she said I did not need to answer if I felt uncomfortable and hung up. I see, on the Internet, they are a scam and caution others to beware of them.

Seems to be more than one caller claiming to be from United Health Care

Left message on my voicemail that they are calling from United Healthcare.  I understand that there is a scam going on now with people pretending they are from United Healthcare.  This is not the number on my card.
