what KC said. this is a scam.  do your homework and do not give these thieves a thread of information. microsoft or any of their partners NEVER  solicit techsupport help. these calls are as old as the fraud they are soliciting.  do not fall for these scumbags.

1-855-440-8822 is one of many numbers used by international scammers and cons - they most definitely are not legitimate.  all you have to do is look at microsofts website addressing this issue - there is NEVER  support contacting the user. IT IS A SCAM.  if you push these people they will threaten you with all kinds of verbal threats. that is not what a legit business does.

Just had a call from a man with a heavy accent that sounded Indian or Pakistani. He sounded very insistent and had a sense of urgency.  Said he was from Indigo Solutions, Bloomington, Ill. and when pressed, gave me this 855 number and said his name was,  Allen Peter.  Said my computer was sending out error messages that they were intercepting and he wanted to fix them.  Also mentioned that he was a Microsoft engineer.  He kept insisting I go to my computer and I told him everything looked fine.  Immediately turned it off so he didn't in some way have access to it. Sounds like it was a scam to me.  A legitimate business does not operate this way!  Allen Peter...humm....Maybe if he said he was "Santa Claus" I would have believed him.

It is definately wise to play it safe.   The real Microsoft doesn't call anyone to solicite.   Those who are saying that they were so helpful and so glad they called and that they fixed their computer are just a bunch of lying scammers hoping to boost their scam by posting false information.  These scammers are calling from Southern Aisa (usually India or Pakistan).   This scam is really getting old but will be milked until all people wise up and start hanging up the phone.    Steer clear....they are just filthy thieves...

Received a call from this number on June 12.  The caller (foreign accent) told me I needed to go to my computer because it was downloading malicious software and I should follow his instructions.  Claimed to be from Indigo?  A Microsoft Company?  This is not the first time I received a call like this.
