hi there everyone I got a call from 855-456-3253 this guy left me a message saying my name with a case number and i need to call back in 2 hrs. so I called the number i got this other guy i ask for the person that called me and i got him on the phone he told me that i have a case out on me and if i do not pay it in two hrs that someone is coming to take me to jail so i was trying to talk to him and ask for more info and he hung up on me. So i called back in about 5 mints the other guy pick up again i ask for him again and he was in a meeting do this sound like a scam what should do is there people i can call about this.

Apparently they followed through and sued this person!!!!!!!!

I got a call from someone telling me they were verifying my address for service of court documents and   I needed to call 855-456-3253 and gave me a 'file' number.  I called the number find out it was an account I had never paid and they wanted $3000.00.   I  researched this company thru the local court system before I gave them any money.  This is what I found:

My parents received a call from this number with a call back number and a reference number for me and that said they were going to serve papers to me next week to make sure that I was there.  Cannot discuss my information with other family members!! Also dont servers just serve and not call you prior to coming?

I received a call from this same number too, their caller ID was now shown but they leave message with this number.  This is a scam.

855 456 3253 is answered "Corporate Offices."  On description of the call received, you may be referred 'upstairs' to PAR Acceptance Corp, Spokane (Performance Asset Recovery).  The debt they are calling about may be zombie debt that they bought, past your state's statute of limitations for collection activity.  Read at http://states.aarp.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/Zombie-Debt-fact-sheet2.pdf.  If this debt is actually yours, you may need legal representation.  If any papers are filed keep a copy.  Zombie debt sellers resell the same bad debt repeatedly and previous filings may be useful.  You may request that the company make no more calls to your number "In Accordance With the Federal Fair Credit and Collections Act."  That seemed to get their attention at PAR  See also http://www.protectingconsumerrights.com/debt- ... -practices-act/.

Haven't gotten a call from these people in a couple months.  Now not only are they STILL calling my in laws, but now they have my home number as well.  I just reported them to the FTC.  I have no outstanding debts to my knowledge and I would like them to stop harassing us.  I would think by now they would have made this supposed decision against me.  Complete scam!!!!

Second time they have called my inlaws number.  When she asked them about who they are and where I was supposed to "appear" this "mike harris" had no idea and kept saying umm ummm ummm.  These people are scamers and I have reported them before.  I don't understand why nothing is being done about them.  Same exact number that called last time!

I received the same call and messages from this number yesterday. I immediately called FTC and filed a complaint. I was informed my FTC not to call the number back, and this is a scam and illegal. You have the power to stop these callers. Contact FTC and make a complaint (877) 382-4357.

Some one called from this number stating my ex-husband had a complaint filed against him and he needed to return the call within a few hours to avoid further action.  I haven't seen my ex in a while.  Was going to return call and tell them not to call again but saw all the post and decided to just ignore.  They need to look for his a stop harrassing me.

Just got the same call a few hrs ago...

received a call for someone else from this number, gave reference number, call within 2 hrs. or proceedings will go on without you, I feel this improper to put this kind of message on my phone when the person it is for doesn't live here...They also hide their phone number when calling but leave this number to call back..... I resent it, they should call the person who they want not someone elses phone....

Identified Corporate Office wanting to serve me court papers. Transferred me upstairs to legal dept. Had some personal info on me address, last four of social, etc.  Debt was in reference to store credit card years ago. : $2532. Seemed agitated when I ask if they were a debt collector

I've received a call from a blocked number several weeks ago asking if I was related to a "Cynthia Clark," which I am not. The man I spoke with tried to get an address verification from me, but I did not give any information. He hung up on me.

Today, I also received a call from a blocked number that I didn't answer. The voice mail was from a woman supposedly named Sarah Marshall for "Cynthia Clark" gave the 855-456-3253 number to call back with a file number. She said if I didn't call back in the next hour, "the issuing agent will be forced to move forward on this matter without my input" in a very official-type tone.

Pretty sure this is a scam. Not going to answer any blocked numbers from now on.

It's a scammer - no one calls ahead of time before serving papers - the court process server just shows up and hands you the documentation.  Also, it is a violation of the FDCPA to threaten in this way, and to also want to speak to a supervisor - they have no right to disclose this information to anyone other than the debtor.  Bottom line - if no debt validation letter proving you owe the debt to them is mailed to you, you owe them nothing.  Also, report the calls to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General.  Tell the callers that all calls are being recorded and monitored by the FBI and that you are making copies to give to your attorney to sue the callers for violation of the FDCPA.

Debts are civil and not criminal matters...

Just recieved a call from 855-456-3253 asking to speak to myself or my supervisor. The man never gave me his name, onlky informed me that "someone" has been trying to serve me papers. He gave me a number to call along with a case # and instructed me to call that number within the hour. Of course, this is some sort of collection agency which should not be calling me at work.

These people actually been calling my job and harassing me and my co workers about a Payday Cash Loan from 2003. They do it at random times. The person always gets nasty with whomever answers the phone. I thought that was against the law to call someones place of business. Just read the other complaints and found the company, which is Performance Asset Recovery. Sending a complaint to the Maryland Office of the Attorney General

I've received this type of call about two years ago from another toll-free number threatening to serve me on my job (which I just started) as well as be arrested.  What I've found out after doing some research is that if you've ever participated in any payday loan, you're contact/personal information has been sold to another company to see if they can collect more money (whether you paid it off in full, only participated once, or several years ago).  If you do speak to someone and they have that last four digits of your SSN, please do not give them the remaining numbers or any personal contact information; and definitely don't agree to wire them money immediately so you can clear up this (scam) matter.  If they are a legitimate bill collector then (1) they should only call you between business hours (M-F 9-5); (2) they should already have your contact information; (3) they are legally not allowed to discuss any details of a debt you may or may not with co-workers; and (4) they are legally required to mail (not fax) you proof of debt.  Once you receive proof of debt, you usually have  30 days to validate the debt belongs to you.  Again, if they are a valid debt collector, they should have this information as well as your current address, the name, address, telephone number and account number of the original creditor.  If they can't provide this information, it most likely is a scam -- either block the telephone number or don't pick-up.  They can be relentless, rude and even threatening;  especially if you ask to speak to a supervisor, know your rights or respectfully ask them to cease and desist all calls.

Why would you pay a bill without the legally required debt validation letter proving you owe the debt to them?  Scammers get money from people all the time for bogus debts.  If you want to settle the bill, call the original owners of the debt (the furniture store) and find out if they sent the account to collections, and if so, to whom.  You don't just pay a debt without making sure that it absolutely is your debt.  Oh, and if you DO pay money to scammers, guess what?  You get put on a "suckers" list and MORE scammers call you saying you paid money to the wrong company, blah blah blah.

No one calls someone before serving them papers.  The court process server just shows up and gives them to you.

Like that's going to happen!  They didn't send you a debt validation letter as per the FDCPA.  They CAN'T garnish your wages without taking you to court first.  Remember - if a caller refuses to mail documentation proving you owe a debt to them, they're trying to scam you out of money and you owe them nothing.

I owe money to a furniture company. I didn't pay for everything owed at the end, and dropped off the map... so they are calling my elderly, sick mom with this collection style harassment... which sucks, but is kind-of effective, because like I see on Dog The Bounty Hunter, when someone is going after your Mom's house, you should stand up and pay your SH*T, so they don't bug your Mom. I'm gonna probably call just to try to see how much it will cost to stop the harassment. If it is something I can afford, I'll probably just pay my bill and be done with it.

Horrible stay at this hotel , manager ruin our vacation. Racist under train nasty people manage this place ..
