It is a scam.  Your girlfriend has no obligation to pass on any messages - especially not for scammers.  She may want to block the number on her phone.  If the callers gave her any information - company name, address - ask her to report them to the FTC - www.ftc.gov, the FBI - www.fbi.gov, and your state's Attorney General - www.naag.org.

If the debt and the company were legitimate, you'd have received dunning letters and then, if unresolved, you'd have gotten served a court summons.  And REAL process servers do NOT call you ahead of time.  Glad you were aware of the scam!

My girl received a call on Tuesday saying that she was listed as a point if contact for a guy named Jose amid Rivera. Who was wanted for fraud and wanted her to pass along a message leading her to call back 8552450126 And that they were searching for him. Feels like a scam.

A man, called himself, Allen Kennedy, called my daughter in Arkansas, told her he needed to schedule a delivery to me, in Missouri, between 3 & 5 on Monday. Even went as far as giving her a tracking #. He called from a Fort Smith #, but left 855-480-1694 as a call back #. I googled the # and here I am. I don't know how he got my daughters number.

Dang!  LOL!  I was hoping someone would stop by, would love to see this debt I apparently owe and to whom.  These scams are all over the place.  Our local Sheriffs offices have been putting out alerts pretty heavily for about the past 3 months warning people not to pay anything over the phone.  If the debt is really true then the company would go through the court system.

Here's a suggestion for dealing with these people:
They can't possibly keep track of all their failed attempts at scamming people, so if they call you just tell them it's the third (or fourth or whatever) time they've called with this threat and since they never showed up any of the other times you're calling their bluff again. They'll think they've tried the scam on you before and start making up reasons why they didn't show up. Then you'll know they're lying and you can tell they're busted.

CALLS USING A LOCAL AREA CODE 877-910-5428   AND SAYS HE IS COURIER COMPANY TO DELIVER OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS AND WILLB E DELIVER BEFORE 5:00 PM ON A CERTAIN DATE.   THIS IS AN Illegal DEBT COLLECTOR,
LEAVES A FILE NUMBER,  AND A 855-480-1694 NUMBER TO CALL.

Illegal Debt Collector
called my ph today from a local number, asked for party by name i asked who was calling and he just started giving out info, i hung up. he called right back leaving a voicemail stating he needs to schedule a delivery and left a call back number of 855-480-1694. Didnt even confirm if i was that person or not. That is a violation of FDCPA. and is 3rd party disclosure if they are releasing info to someone that is not the person the call is intended for...I accidentally confirmed my name but they had the wrong address anyway. Too bad. Then I blocked the numbers on my phone. Now they'll have to call back on another number and start all over again only this time, I will be on the lookout. Most of the time I don't even answer the phone. Anyone that would want to talk with friends, family, business would leave a message. So I just won't answer and keep blocking the numbers as they appear. Finally a real reason to upgrade my phone to the latest IPHONE. The number block feature alone is worth its weight in gold to keep these mutts and telemarketers out of our lives.

Basically, give them nothing and tell them to get stuffed.

Called left voice message. Said name was Amanda Roberts and  was calling to discuss scheduled delivery of documents required by law in the state.  "I am just giving a courtesy call prior to doing so.."

The number used was a local number 469-804-0619 but  message said to call 855-480-1694 to discuss the matter.

" you have been legally notified"

Really?????

I know this is a scam.  The first time this started happening last year they were saying the same thing.  I checked my credit and everything to make sure there was nothing like that pending.

If they are collecting a debt, why is there NO information?

Received a voice-mail saying that his name was James Garcia with the court and he had me on his list for delivery on Monday between 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM, either at my office or home.  He left a reference call and that if I had any questions, I should contact the sender at 855-480-1694, so that I could put a stop to having the legal documents delivered, and then he said "Good luck".  Is this a scam?

Illegal third party disclosure---an immediate red flag that this may be a fake debt collector. Read what the FTC has to say about them:

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.
