I received a call from 855-496-3278 on a Sunday night from "Pamela calling from NMS" who needs to update my account. The voice was very polished and she spoke as if she knew me. I called back from a blocked line but the "customer service rep stepped away from the phone". This is so scammy.

1-855-496-3278 female recording (Nikki) called my business on a Sunday night, stating that Visa and MasterCard has set new standards and that this was a mandatory update.  I would also like to know why they don't call during business hours?  Why are they calling on a Sunday night?

I just got this excact same message - acting like they are your processor and that you need their update.

I received this call at my business stating: Hi this is Nicki calling with Merchant services, Please return my call as I have mandatory changes regarding visa and master card and our account that I need to discuss with you.

I tried to call back- No answer, no voicemail, just rang repeatedly.

We are a merchant service provider and received a voicemail yesterday. I blocked our number and called to see what would happen. I was asked if I used a terminal or a POS system. Upon answering the lady told me about the upcoming EMV change and that if the terminal couldn't accept EMV that the card could be keyed in. I asked if there was anything I needed to do to my terminal and was told no, that it was just an informative call. Weird.

Message by voice actress said my merchant services account needs a security update. I am guessing this is a scam since I don't take credit cards. Fortunately, the people reading this post won't get taken, but they only need a few to fall for it to make it worth their while.

Same mandatory update scam from Niki. Called my merchant services number from my statements to vallidate and they said it was a scam. Niki left several messages.

Got a call from (855) 496-3278 on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at 11:49 AM.  A female recorded message said there was a mandatory update to our credit card machine due to the recent breaches, and to call her back so one of her team members could help us.  Really?!  on a Sunday morning, come on now... this is a phishing scam!!

I received a call from these scums saying that 'we have a problem with your credit card, it is mandatory that you call us to resolve this.'  I switched off my caller id, called, and they claimed to be Merchant Services 'trying to earn my business' - I told the man that lying to me, not identifying themselves was no way to earn my business, and I would report them. Which I am now doing. They are not a legit company, but are trying to steal your credit card information!

Baffling as to why they call @ 8:30 on a sunday night.    Do they really expect anyone to answer?

I received the same call.  Perhaps if enough of us lodge a complaint on the Fed Do Not Call list, maybe they'll get the message...although it seems to be ineffective at best.

Phone rang on Sunday afternoon, I answered, they hung up!!

They called over the weekend saying there was a mandatory update to my merchants account mentioning Visa and Mastercard. I'm leery of all unsolicited calls. I'm glad I checked here first. I don't have time to be bothered with the BS from these scammers.

Left message on Sunday at my business stating I needed to call back for a mandatory update according to federal regulations, I just about did but decided to check it out online first .... glad I did - will NOT be calling back.

Stated that my CC needs updated.

Our business received a call from this number claiming to be Merchant Services with mandatory updates to our credit card machine.  Coincidentally we have Merchant Services as our credit card servicer.  I called the number back and the lady was trying to give me this credit card machine.  I was suspicious so I called the number on the bill we get and was told that this is a scam, we do not need an updated credit card machine.

Its an independent merchant services agency - National Merchant Services. They are using the security scares to try and get clients by telling them they need to update their credit card machine. I called and confronted them and they were rude and hung up on me.

I received a call regarding a "mandatory update to my merchant terminal."  The call came in at 10:10 AM on a Sunday morning, which are not my prime business hours!  I called Amex back at their well-advertised number, and they knew nothing about an update.  It's a phishing scam.
