I have been getting many calls for a woman with a different name than mine. They say "received a complaint with my name and social security"  BS.....when I called back the number on my caller ID one day a man answered was very rude...I said you are calling the wrong number...gave him the name of the person they were calling and he then wanted my name!  I said No...I will not give my name to you...you sound like a scam....he then became irate and I hung up on him and blocked the number...they now call from a blocked #!!!!!!  the vm number left was 855-510-4585.  SCAM!

Received a call from a 415 653-0502 asking me to call 855 510-4585 saying they have a complaint and my name and social security number are attached to it and that i need to call them back. The first number when i call it the recording says the number is incorrect - so they have a way to mask or block the true number they are calling from. I did not call the second number nor to i intend to - it's obviously a scam!

The number that showed upon my husbands phone said Tennnessee. It even had the area code where we live. The message said it was for my husband. They had a documents stating a complaint and SS#. They said to call 855-510-4585 then they said the complaint #is and the message cutoff. It was a lady's voice.  He also has at least one or two calls a day saying if they don't hear from him or his attorney they pray for his outcome. These phone calls are usually a foreign accent  and they never say where they are from. The number they call from is never the one they tell you call back.they make it sound like you 're
In some kind of trouble if you don't call back.  My husband is not in good health and he is not to have any stress at all. Do we call the state or Federal government. ?

I received a call and the call came from a local number and then tell you to call the 855-510-4585. Sounds like another form of intimidation.

This number has many complaints against it on other phone number checking sites . The general concurrences is that it is a scam. They are located in IOWA.. They always say you owe for this or that or they have received a complaint against your SS# .  Do not give them information.

I received the same call . This call comes in at least once a month . These people and many other crap calls constantly call our business phone . There has to be a way to pre-screen these spam and scam numbers  . I waste so much time answering the phone for this .ALL DAY EVERYDAY it is so frustrating . Thank goodness for 800 notes !

I have received numerous calls from these same people and different numbers. I have no payday loans like they are claiming, and they are saying wood county police are looking for me.  This is definitely a scam, when I called them back they are very rude and threatening in tone when trying to collect this debt.

Keep getting calls from this number and several other #'s, saying a local merchant has filed a claim against me and it is attached to my name and drivers license number, that I have 24 hours to contact them before they will pursue the matter further. I just called them back and told them to stop calling me & hung up. They immediately called back from a restricted line that does not reveal their number, I immediately called back again and this time said I've already reported you to the FTC you need to not call me again. This time they did not call back. BTW when they answered the phone they just said, hello-not like a legit company would answer a phone, stating company name and identifying the caller. THIS IS MOST DEFINITELY A SCAM, DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFO & REPORT THEM TO THE AUTHORITIES!!!

I've received the same type of call with the same type of information.  I have been receiving these type of phone call since last year.  Either they were phone messages, robocalls, or callers with a foreign accent.  These are the types of calls that I ignore because all they do is threaten people into paying money for debts that they do not own.  In the future I will report these calls to the police or the state attorney general's office.  You post was very informative and I will do what I can to stop these types of calls.

I just received a call from 909 458 0691.  A message was played repeatedly with a woman's voice.  It said that a complaint has been received with my name and my social security number.  I was asked to press1, if I want to leave a statement.  Otherwise, I was asked to call 855 510 0691.

i got a call from 515-393-6514 (which when i googled it is Polk County Iowa, where i live), they left a voice mail, stating that i had papers filed on me and to call 855-510-4585 and that my action file number or something rather was...call ended before i could get this so called number. This is a huge scam going around here. this however is 2 new numbers though.

I had one last year that i called back and threatoned me with imprisonment and such from a county here in iowa for a payday loan i didnt pay on. refused to give me any documents or validation. first off, the county i supposedly had a payday loan in, i never lived in, second, i have never gotten a pay day loan! never needed to! i called the county where i supposedly had gotten this payday loan, they verified i have a clean record not only in that county but was able to search statewide, clean as a whistle. furthermore, the state of iowa does not prosecute or send out warrents or arrest for not paying on a pay day loan. she explained all of the laws, none of which i was threatoned are valid. she also advised to call the local non emergency police number and report it to them and the FTC. which i did. found out that the number they first started to hound me at was a ported number through canada and wow that is some big issues :)

i have had a number of these calls and i report each number and each time i get a call from them. i ignore them otherwise. they just keep getting new numbers every few days.

all you can do is report each time you get a call from these scum bags and dont pay them! demand written validation and call whatever county they are saying you have papers filed on you! dont fall for it :)

I have received a call from them from 3 different numbers and they are saying the same thing.  855-510-4585, 610-674-0003 and 513-813-4434.  Saying I owe a payday loan and they have a file on me and are going to file a lawsuit with Hamilton County.  When I spoke briefly to them yesterday and said I would talk to them again after work they just hung up.  No goodbye, what time etc.  I thought very rude.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you

.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

I just received a call from 855-510-4585.  I didn't answer.  They left a voicemail saying I had a pending file in their office.

I called the number they gave, and it is a company called Four Star Revenue Recovery.

I don't owe any payday loans or credit cards, so I have no idea what this is about.  Sounds like a scam to me, so I'm blocking this number.  They called from 772-361-6427.  I'm blocking that one, too.
