A  call from 855-532-4572 told my mother in another state that I had one hour to return the call regarding a suite against me.  Because Mom's hearing sometimes mixes things up the message went to my (young-adult) niece who called them back.  Not knowing about phishers she gave her SSN and was told the original call was not for her, but for me.  So she very wisely called me and I took the number straight to Google, which is how I found this site.  But I never would have called them back, anyway, because I know I don't have any problems with other people and/or businesses.  Additionally, I'm not the only one in the world with my name, so it's safe to assume any Legitimate Call is for someone else.  The good news is that now my niece knows at least one new scam to watch out for!

By the way, remember that ANY info is valuable to these people, so never redirect them; insist on taking a message!!!

they are paid to use "lawsuit and threats" against you to make you confess to the debt then claim it. Once you do that you are in and have to pay. Just ignore the threats unlike me who ended up paying the debt. My mother in law had a bill in my name never paid for. Sucks to be used!

I am a debt collector and I operate within the boundaries of the law. Companies like this (HP Financial Firm) one give us law abiding collectors a bad name. First, let me tell you all that their tactics are unlawful and they do not sue anyone. They buy old debts and try to scare you into paying. This is why they do not publish an address. Additionally, you will not find them licensed in any jurisdiction that requires it nor are they members of the DBA (Debt Collectors Association) or the ACA (American Collectors Association) as most legitimate agencies. I took the liberty of calling around and I think I down what I believe is their address for those of you that want to pursue them 30141 Antelope Rd, Suite D-239, Menifee CA 92584 (I think this address is correct but I cant be 100% certain)

A gentleman from Consumer Locater Services called and said there was a civil complaint being filed against my husband. He referred me to HP Financial 855-532-4572 with a case number. I called and spoke to a very arrogant gentleman who informed me that I was probably mistaken about their being a mistake. He provided the wrong date of birth, but the same name as my husband. I explained he had the wrong person, but same name. He asked if we were related. I explained no. The whole time, this gentleman was arrogant, and I called him out on it. This is for sure a scam.

Yep, complete scam. I spoke to HP Financial (888.532.4572) after getting bombarded with calls from (321) 352-4226, which is 100% in on this scam with them, though they claim to know nothing and act like they're a separate legitimate business.

HP financial didn't even try to deny the fact that they are unlicensed, instead changing the topic.

Do not be fooled by these people. They may have personal info about you, as well as being able to mention a debt of yours, but they DO NOT own the debt. They have no right to collect it. And if you pay them anything it will not benefit you whatsoever.

They're cowards who hide behind ever-changing phone numbers and vague information.

Glad it worked out for you!  I've got a couple of quick questions

1.  Who exactly was this "HP Financial"?
2.  How exactly does one go about moving and forgetting about a financial obligation?

Well, I looked into this.  There are two sets of references to "Consumer Locating Services".  One is an outfit out of California

http://www.bbb.org/central-california/busines ... orco-ca-1024044
http://www.bizapedia.com/ca/CONSUMER-LOCATING-SERVICES-LLC.html

However, there is also a set of complaints on a "spoofed" number for the "716" area code

http://www.callercomplaints.com/SearchResult.aspx?Phone=716-254-2092

OTOH, this is a supposedly spoofed number.  OTOH, it is the "716" area code --- WNY a hot bead of illegal boiler rooms

Nice try you worm. But you're wasting your time! The people here are encouraged to know of their rights under the FDCPA. Meaning that scamming frauds like yourself won't get anywhere with your BS. The people here know that NO debt is to be paid to ANY debt collector until a valid notice of validation has been received by MAIL. NOT e-mail or fax. And they know that until the contents of that notice have been verified, and the collector as well, that NO payment should be paid.
So you're wasting your breath fraud-boy. If a person finds this site.....scammers like you are done!

The company is not a scam, they actually helped me out greatly.  I had a previous debt that went unpaid due to my own failure to pay the bill when I was younger. The company was able to release all liability of the debt to me within 24 hours of my final payment and my credit score has reflected this change. They are a great company and were very helpful with getting me back on track.

I got a call from a company called Consumer Locating Services too. They gave me the number 855-532-4572 to call back. I called them and it was a debt collector trying to collect from a few years ago. At first I thought it was a scam, but after they explained to me what it was I knew I had owed the debt, I just had never paid it before because I had moved and forgot about it. I paid the debt with HP Financial and within 24 hours I received the statement showing I paid in full and I was not liable for the debt any more.

My sister got a call from these people, when I returned the call they wanted me to verify my personal info. I told them I would after I knew what it was about and the guy refused to tell me. After going in circles with him he finally said it was a civil lawsuit, but could say no more until i verified my info. I still refused and as he was frustrated he gave out my SSN and DOB without knowing if I was actually that person, then hung up on me, after telling me that they had every place i had lived and all my information on file. Some place called HP Financials is all I got out of them.

They said they were calling from Consumer Locating Services in Columbus, OH and that I needed to call back 855-832-4572.  They said I was being sued.  I asked why I hadn't received a certified letter in the mail and they said I had received one (NOT). What a scam!
