Advice on a forum from an ex-telemarketer:

"In this case and in every case of companies calling when they shouldn't, the ONLY way to get them to stop is to report them. EVERY TIME. The fines, if issued, are per instance, and add up quickly. Larger companies have budgets to cover the fines but they only do this because they assume that the vast majority WILL NOT report them, so they just write it off as an operating expense. Report. Report. Report."

it seems they are calling from a different phone number. Every attorney who is involved with this is responsible under the Telemarketing Sales Rule to name a few. Good chance they can be disbarred. More to come as it becomes available. Please everyone report them to your attorney general's office.

If you received a call regarding help if you had a mesh implant, this is related to this call. Every consumer contacted can receive  $500 per call. This is per call. Your state could have separate statutes in addition to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

There are rules for attorney advertising in every state.  Contact your state "bar counsel" to find out the rules and report them.  I just filed a report for either the unauthorized practice of law and/or improper attorney advertising under Virginia Rule of Professional Conduct Rule 7.3(c)

I know who they are. They spoof their phone number. This means the phone number appears differently than where they are calling from. This in itself is illegal. My call had my state phone number. And the call was a recording out of a different state. The recording is a robo call. The so called co owner of the company stated that a different person made the call (that showed as my state) and the voice on the message was her husband (in a different state). I also have emails between myself and the company with a person stating  that I do not know who I am dealing with and other comments. What I do know that lawyers in many states can not pay a referral to a non lawyer. I believe the text message originated from a company or affiliate in Canada and comes back to the US. A lawyer stated on his website to beware. Their website has grammatical errors.  We can stop this and I know how to do it and will tell you how to do it.

A simple solution for Android user's download a free app called Dead to Me. It blocks the call or text and sends a nasty (if you wish return message and get this....  ! You can specify how many times you want them to get the message so if everyone who is getting these calls does the same thing they will be BOMBED. (I don't work for the developer). Spread the word.

Mine said "Injured or harmed do to negligence? Be compensated. Call us now." Why yes, I totally want representation from someone who doesn't know the difference between due and do. Pathetic.

What they are doing is illegal. Many states it is illegal for a attorney to pay a non attorney a referral fee. This could result in disbarment for that attorney violating this. This company is a scam and it is based out of California. You being contacted without a prior business relationship is a violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. I was contacted and they spoof their phone number. They also use an auto dialer. They do not manually contact you. After you proceed with the process (to protect them being figured out.  It  is a robocall. (not a live person).  Times are tough and people will do anything to make a buck. Chances are that if a lawyer contacted you related to this phone number, they have violated state and federal law and engaged in conduct that can result in being disbarred.

I got this same text - " Do you believe someone owes you money due to injury/illness? Call 855-644-2383"

Everyone should call and get rude and nasty with them - I plan to.  If there is an answering machine, leave a lengthy voice message that doesn't make sense and then end it with leaving their phone number as YOUR call back number!!!

I hate unsolicited call/text and will make sure they don't call/text me ever again!!!

Hello everyone! I just got the same txt, when I called to ask to be put on their DNC, which they are legally required to do, and ask how they got my info,  I was told to "F" off and then they hung up.  I called my provider, they told me to call the cops, the police connected me to the DEA of consumer protection, who is now calling them trying to find out what they are doing.  Hopefully she can do something to stop these jerks.  I live in CO, if anyone else does on this forum please call the DEA of consumer protection at (303)441-3700, if you live in another state just google your states consumer protection office number.  What they are doing is against the law.

I hope some of you understand that the very people who are breaking the law are posting here about how technically advanced they are.

Even criminals can look up their own phone numbers on the Internet to see what people are saying about their crimes.

What they can't hide are their IP addresses. The Feds will have fun with that! The gov't also likes to think they're technically advanced. Lately, we are learning about how much they enjoy tracking down criminals who use electronic devices to scam people.

Well. Yes! I HAVE been injured! Contrary to what another poster above wrote, there IS a law against unsolicited texts on a mobile device.

Read it here: http://www.fcc.gov/guides/unwanted-telephone-marketing-calls

I think the fine is $500 per occurrence. Text me again, ss2vfmit@yahoo.com!  You are committing a crime that is causing me grievous injury! I want compensation! The more you text, the more I get compensated.

I am filling out the Fed's complaint form right now. I trust the law will make me whole again. It has before. I know how this works.

I agree with Susan, great way to reach out to potential clients .. I myself did not know who to go to for my injury lawsuit .. this way they make the Lawyer contact you .. plain and simple -- disregard the message if you don't want it... like she said we are in 2013 technology is on the rise!!!!!!!

How could someone be a scam artist if they just want to help YOU out? ....

Canadian company. Telephone consumer protection act violation. Was supposed to have a lawyer contact me. One never did, so I called back and they stated they would put me on the list to be contacted within two days. Someone out there has to have been contacted by a lawyer through these jokers. If anyone could share if they have been contacted by a lawyer related to their sms text message, please leave details here. I am not an attorney but I am well aware of the TCPA laws and any lawyer that has contacted a consumer through the sms message is liable . Not only will the consumer be compensated, but I will report the attorney to their state bar and hopefully they are disbarred. Searching for injured victims (ambulance chasing) to make a profit at their clients expense is unethical.

Git the same text about injury compensation.....called their number back (8556442383) and hit two for "take my name off your list. Got two more texts in the next couple weeks. Finally called them back on the land lne (I have limited shared minutes and pay per text) and was put on hold for a few minutes until I disconnected.

I called the Federal Trade Commission about the "do not call" list and was told that onl applied to calls, not texts. Once in a great while I do use texting but pay per text so I am kinda screwed here, unless I want Verizon to shut off all texts. Was hoping the TC would take the bull by the horns abd in fact I was told that I had a reference number and to call again if this persisted. Not that the otherwise useless Politicos are coming home on break, it's time to get something I want for a change....will be contacting senators and reps and see what can be done.......

Text from haivq@hotmail.com reading "Have you been hurt and suffered financially? Be compensated. Call 8556442383."

This sounded to me like an attorney trolling for clients by sending text messages to strangers and, because I am an attorney, it made me furious. I sent a return text expressing my disgust, and then I called the number. I pressed 1 to speak to an agent, spent four minutes on hold, and then they hung up on me.

I will definitely call back tomorrow and give a piece of my mind to these scammers. I might even try to track them down. That is how mad I am about this.
