calls from numbers I do not know, I do not answer, got a call from 855-657-7202, will not call it back, i rejected the call and sent a text with the reject asking what is up

Same thing here.  Called at 5 AM.  I don't have cable, the house isn't even wired for cable, and even if I wanted cable I live too far out in the desert to get cable

We do not want to put our social security number into the phone.  They asked for this first.  We do not know who this is and we need to know!!..We are MAD!!!

They just called me on CHRISTMAS EVE!!! they have been calling for months now, i refuse to answer cause i don't know the number, but if they have the nerve to call me on CHRISTMAS i will answer and it will not be a pleasant person they are talking to!!

These people keep calling for a person who does not own my phone number. I have told them this repeatedly. I've asked them to look up in the billions of public records available my phone number, which will give them evidence I am not who they are looking for. Still, they call. I have the number blocked and they still call. My blocking system does show me who phones even though the phone does not ring.  I'm flabbergasted with it all. All the calls we all receive during the day.  Frustrating beyond frustrating.

unreal, i didnt know anyone could be so rude on the phone, they demand their monies but cant sent out any kind of statement to you in the mail........ how are u suppose to trust something like that   .... think nothing of calling several times a day

1)  Tell your daughter to tell the callers "This phone does not belong to <name they are looking for>.  You have GOT to stop calling."  

2)  Contact your daughter's cell provider and ask them how to block calls from this number.

3)  Put this number in your daughter's contacts list and assign it the ring tone "no ring".  That won't stop the calls but it will make them easier to ignore.


I had a similar problem when Michael the Deadbeat bought a car he didn't plan to pay for and put my cell number on the loan application.  My cell provider suggested #3 because at that time they charged for blocking calls.  I eventually tried #1 and got rid of them.  The callers may not listen to a 14-year old girl.  You may have to hold the phone for a few days and say that stuff for her.

They call my 14 year old daughters phone all day. Some "princess" that had the number before that couldnt pay her bill.  Told them they are calling a minor child, they hung up, then called her back again.

Received multiple calls to a minor claiming she owed for cable in a city she never lived in.  Ask to have number removed from list and do not call again, we will see.

keep getting calls for a Jennifer Merrimom have told them atleast 10 times no one here by that name.  they keep calling as early as 7am and as late as 10pm. this should be against the law...  so frusterated. what can be done to make these calls stop???

You should pay for select call rejection service if it is offered thru your phone carrier. You can immediately block any unwanted calls with just the bush of a few buttons. Century Link has this service.

I have been receiving calls from this number for the past 2+ months! They call at ALL hours of the day and night, as well as on both Saturday and Sunday! I have a voice message that states- I screen all my calls and if you want to speak with me you need to leave a name & number! I don't think they even get to the message part before they hang up!! I have tried calling them back, and have gotten 2 different results, the 1st time- leave your name and number and call will be returned (go figure) SO I DID- no return call. 2nd time, "This number has been changed, or is no longer in service." One time I was able to answer in time, I got an automated voice saying to call some random number, but I couldn't write it down in time. Yes, due to this "wonderful" economy, I do have some small debts out there, but as far as I believe, I have been in contact with all of them, so there should be no reason for them to be turned over to a collection agency! AND if they are an agency, they're not trying very hard to ACTUALLY talk to me!   If anyone finds out who they are- please let the rest of us know!! This is very frustrating.

I get this call repeatedly and they leave no message.  They call early morning and wake up my granddaughters and myself when we are trying to sleep in the morning at our vacation place at the beach.
when i go to bed tonight, i am planning to unplug the phone so it wont ring and wake us up!! I'm not sure, but don't think i can block a call with my phone. It is so irritating to get calls for collections when you do now owe anyone.  And...my number is also knew so they may have this number from a previous owner of the number.
I am on the do not call list, and will report them. Not sure that will do any good, but worth a try.

I don't even have Comcast and have never had Comcast and got a call from them.

Calls many times a week but as soon as answering machine comes on they hang up. I guess I will block it since there are conflicting reports of who it is.

I GET CALLS FROM THESE PEOPLE EVERY DAY WEEKENDS TOO,THEY SAY THEY ARE LOOKING FOR A MANIS PERSON. THEY ARE RELENTLESS AND IVE DONE EVERYTHING I KNOW AND THEY WONT STOP. Tried to call it back right after they called and a male (not operator) voice said this numbers not in service. Sounds like a scam to me.

this people are calling me and I dont know what for they can't even say my last name . I pay my bills when they tell me a honest price. I don't pay when they change my bill $60 dollars more than I was suppost to pay screw them man.

First off,  Surveys are in fact exempt from the  DNC registry and I don't believe that there is a law that prohibits any calls on Sundays..  years ago,  I remember that some states and cities had "Blue laws'  that prohibited certain actions,  i.e.  Car and horse trading,  on Sundays.  I feel for you because there are so many Good hard working Americans who are being hounded by collectors who simply can't pay due to this economy and the every rising higher and higher cost of just plain eating and living.  It does sound to me that most of those who are calling you are probably going to be Debt Collectors hoping to speak to you rather than an answering machine.  It can be hard for them to intimidate an answering machine.  I don't believe there is much you can do in reporting bill collectors from calling you,  unless they clearly violate the law and your rights.  Then you might contact an attorney for advise.  Most will give you a few minutes over the phone at no charge.  The mistake that many people make is that they hear a lot of misinformation from others about what the DNC does and doesn't do but they rarely go to the FTC/DNC site and read the Frequently asked Q&As  and all of the other informative facts.   They believe that all unwanted callers are violating the DNC.  The DNC was initially setup,  and still is,  only to limit the number of Telemarketing calls to people who don't want them.    The DNC  defines telemarketing as  "Telephone sales of goods and services"   In reality the DNC Registry  is nothing more than "A LIST"  of those people,  maintained within and updated by the FTC,  and is required to be purchase by companies who wish to legally do telephone sales of their products and services.  Apparently some  think that it is a gigantic super mega computer that monitors all of the over 500 million telephones and the over 1 billion, 500 million plus phone calls made to the US from around the world,  each and every day in order to block that one phone call that a person might not want.  The DNC is being blamed for everything from the Great Flood to bad breath.   And it is just a List.  One that was never intended,  or physically capable of dealing with what is being expected of it in todays world of Telephone Terrorism.

We are on the do not call list and have been every since it 'came out'.

We use a landline with caller ID AND a recording for messages. We DO owe a student loan bill that has not been paid on in about 3 years due to change of income & circumstance, but I do NOT think this is that, those people usually identify themselves AND leave a message. THIS number NEVER leaves a message, just calls & hangs up once the recorder picks up, thus using up that space on the recorder.

Also, about once every three months we get behind on at least ONE of our bills, but again, we don't think THIS NUMBER is any of our regular bills as THEY LEAVE MESSAGES.

Our solution is this - We let the answering machine answer ALL of our calls - if we do not recognize the number (it states the number aloud BEFORE it clicks on for messages) - we simply do not answer the phone.  EXCEPT for numbers that call repeatedly & NEVER LEAVE A MESSAGE - for those, we pick up the phone & hang up without talking, OR, and this is odd - we answer, say "Hello", and THEY HANG UP. Sometimes, if someone answers, we talk to them and find out what is going on, but ALWAYS, they have their wires crossed or SOMETHING, because it will end up that we are NOT who they are looking for. But do they stop calling? NO!

One company has called repeatedly asking specifically for ME, stating that I owe an old medical bill and to please call back & take care of this matter immediately. This is IMPOSSIBLE, as I am handicapped and my insurance pays by bills in FULL. As a result, we deduced this is most definately a SCAM, as I NEVER owe a hospital or medical bill, and my co-pays are taken when I go in to an appointment.

I wish to ASK a question, too. What is the 'deal' about "Sundays"? I VAGUELY recall a law about no telephone solicitations on Sunday, but if they are a BILL COLLECTOR, is it against the law for them, too? We, too, get calls beginning as early as SIX A.M up until nearly MIDNIGHT, SEVEN DAYS A WEEK, usually from companies that we don't even do BUSINESS WITH, much less OWE anything to! And, if it IS against the law, does anyone know how to report this, and, the calls beginning so early in the day and continuing so late into the night, 7 days a week?

PS: Political calls are EXEMPT from Do Not Call Lists, but SURVEYS are NOT, and we get a LOT of those, too. As in : "Do not hang up, this is NOT a solicitor (or bill collector), we are taking a SURVEY for _________."

NEVER, EVER pay a (owed) bill by calling a Collection Agency back at the number given. IF IT IS A SCAM< you will have LOST YOUR MONEY and STILL OWE the bill.

Solution: Look the correct number up. Or find an old bill and call the number off of the bill. But NEVER give money to ANYONE by calling a number given on a recording or by hitting redial!

I finally called these people back and pressed option 3 and I gave them my
Phone number and I verified my name when they said it but
Then they wanted my address and last 4 of my social
And I told her I wasn't giving her that info until I knew what this company was inquiring about.
She told me she couldn't give me that information until I gave the previous info.
I told her that I'm quite certain this is spam & she said it wasn't and when I told her to take me off her call list she said, "are you sure?" I answered yes. A bill collector would not have done that. They have no qualms about discussing your debt with anyone. They'll bother relatives & neighbors & if they are speaking to the correct person they will continue to call you and you can't have it removed.
