First let me assure you, this IS a legit Regions bank number. I got a call from this number on Sat 12/21/13. Caller left a voicemail saying she was from Regions Bank fraud prevention department & they detected suspicious activity on my account. Before calling her back, I checked my statement online & HOLY CRAP!! Major, extravagant spending against my debit card! The main Regions 800 number was closed bc it was after hours on Sat. I called the 855 number back & spoke to a lady who informed me that she had closed my card to prevent further fraudulent charges. I spent the entire rest of the weekend watching my account like a hawk & just being a nervous wreck in general bc I could not confirm for SURE if this caller was actually from the bank. First thing Mon morning, I called 1-800-regions & they DID confirm this to be their legit fraud prevention number. I told my local bank branch manager that Regions would be wise to put this number somewhere on their website so customers can feel comfortable speaking to the caller. Hope this helps if you find yourself in a similar situation.

This is legit. My wife and I were part of the Target info leak and just got the call from the 205 number to call the 855 number. We found several smaller fraudulant charges and called both the 855 number and also the 800 Regions number on our card. They confirmed the 855 number is their fraud line.

I just got a vcml from a man named Leon that claimed to be from the fraud department of Regions bank. He called from 205 420 4225 and told me to call him back at 855 662 8647. I called back and the lady that answered said Leon was at lunch and said she would try to connect me to another agent that could try to help me and asked for my SS# or Debit Card number. I just left my phone number and name because I wasn't comfortable about that...I honestly don't know about this. I am going to call my Bank first thing in morning to find out whats going on.

Not a scam, a guy called said he was from Regions fraud dept. I thought it was a scam so I took the number the 205-420-2800 he called from and the 1-855-662-8647 number he said to call back. I call Regions 1-800 number on my bank card instead and the rep. said they had a lot of number for the fraud dept. but she checked my acct. and confirmed the my spending limit had been dropped to $1.00 and checked to see why and confirmed again somebody had tried to use my card twice today. Once at a expensive hotel over seas and again somewhere in Canada for $2000.00. She said they realize I have a steady use on my card same thing every month same area so it was declined for them cause it was unusual. But I am so glad they knew. She said they will cancel that card and send another one out. And how who ever got my info. I have no idea

Just got off the phone with the bank and they confirmed it was legit.

this number called me and a man said they could sell automatic firearms (like machine guns) to me if I paid cash.
BrainstemDoc 2013-09-10 00:39:40 Unknown
This number was from The Regions Fraud Department.
Apparently someone tried using my card at a Walmart in St Peters Florida for over $900.00.
I asked if they got the guy and he said maybe if the cameras got him using the counterfeit card?
They also said that they stopped it from hitting my account, so did the person get a decline or get the products or run away?
I would like to know more about what actually went down...

This is a good Regions number. Its ALWAYS safer to look up a number rather than call the one in an email...but in this case it is the Debit Card Fraud Division for Regions...it was in an email to my daughter because she would not answer this number on her cell...
Regions Customer 2013-08-27 16:01:40 Unknown
Yeah, so, it's not a scam. Good luck using your debit card when the fraud department closes it pending you contacting them. When I called they did not ask for ANY information. They had indeed cancelled the card due to attempted fraudulent activity and said they would send a new card. How would they be able to do that if not the bank? The e-mail contained by address and last 4 of my card as well. I verified through personal investigation that no fraudulent charges were indeed charged up unto this point.
You must be too embarrassed that you were indeed wrong. Shame on you for not updating your post..

Received the same e-mail. I called Regions Bank because I could not believe they would want a customer to make a long distance call.

Not Regions Bank - SCAM!! This number was listed in an email supposedly from Regions Bank, but it is a scam confirmed by the bank.

They called saying that someone was hitting my debit card in another state. I told them it wasn't me.
I called Regions via the phone number on the back of my debit card. Regions confirmed the fraudulent activity, and the prior phone call.
Regions would do themselves better by having a more professional phone answering front-end.

This is a legit phone number for Regions Bank Fraud Alert division. If they are calling they most likely have detected activity on your debit card and have shut it down.
Timewilltell 2013-07-15 22:31:59 Unknown
This is a real number for Regions Bank Fraud alert division. If they are calling someone has your debit card number and are trying to use it.

It's a real representative from Regions. When I called the number on the back of my debit card, they redirected me right back to the individual who called me initially. They were in fact contacting me about an attempt to steal my debit card information. Just call back Regions directly if you're worried.

says they are from Regions Bank

This number called me too. I called my regions customer service bank instead just in case. I did have someone that tried to use my card in another state. It was only 9.00 but Regions still flagged it and stopped it. If concerned about calling that number it's always a good idea to just call your local bank.

I got a call from this number as well stating that they were with Regions Fraud Department. They then asked for my card info and I said no I would handle it at my local office. After calling my local office I learned that my card was cloned and someone was trying to use it out of state. But when I told My bank about the phone call and gave them the number that had called to tell me about the fraud, My bank said that is NOT from their department and it was probably the thief trying to get more info from me on my card. I dodged a bullet there. I handle all my bank problems at the bank itself now. Beware of this number and don't give them any info.

same thing, but called Regions main number from regions.com
there was fraudulent use of the debit card. Two $50 out of state charges at target.
They said they had flagged the account and denied a $600 attempt.
I would always use the phone number on the card, or banks website.

Caller claimed to be Regions Bank fraud department saying someone out of state tried to use my debit card. I am not positive but suspect that really was who the caller was.
