I'm sick and tired of you snobs in SAG who won't vote yes on the merger because you think you are better than AFTRA--that has to be it-you think you are above everything, are better quality actors, you think because you had the almighty SAG card and "it was so hard to get" that you are superior.  Well, that's CRAP!  Stop whining...you are no better than anyone else, just ask the actors who were in AFTRA first--they worked just as hard if not harder.  To those of you in SAG who voted yes, I applaud you because you have brains.

i voted no in 2003 and immediately regretted it.  i voted no on principle because they said it could take up to ten years to merge health benefits.  well, if we had voted yes we'd be one year away from merged health benefits.  there is no reason to be in two different unions for doing the exact same job.  division only works to the advantage of the producers.  vote yes.  i did, twice.

If you are boh a SAG and an AFTRA member you WILL get two ballots and can vote twice.
I you are totally thrilled with how things work now, then vote against the merger. If you want to see some positive changes, then vote yes, then all the members can work together for what we want.We ARE our unions, if we get and stay involved.

I received a call from 855-724-2387 on 12 March 2012 at 12:34 p.m. I did not answer. The caller left no message.  If what other posters here say is true about SAG & AFTRA using a robo service to promote  merger, then I think the unions are wasting members' money. This would be the 2nd call I've got regarding pro-merger. The other call came from an AFTRA number in LA 818, about 2 weeks ago.
Unnecessary waste of money on robo calls, and wrong of my union officials to not leave an official message. Cowards.

Speculation and conjecture are not answers.Propaganda is what union dues are being spent on.Spending money to set up information meetings 7 and 17 days after ballats have been sent out with the appeals to vote yes today.How can these meetings be productive if the votes have allready been cast?This is but one of many examples on how they are attempting to silence those who oppose this merger.Members who would like to put forth information at these so called information meetings are restricted to one minute while the panel of advocates take all the time in the world to spew smoke and mirrors with very few concrete answers.Pension and wellfare,what happens to it?They just dont know!! They refer  us to a feasibility report for answers.Conjecture is what you get because these 7 experts can not affirm the plans will merge if sag and aftra merge.SMOKE and MIRRORS.Wake up.

Actually Steverino, NO they havent- Have you heard about the TV land deal they did behind closed doors? Have you "now" heard about how the merging of the 2 H/P plans may not ever happen? You are not hearing it all... Lay off the koolaid and do the research about all the things they dont want you to know.

This is not true. SAG and AFTRA have spent a lot of resources to bend over backwards to explain to any and all members everything that is asked.

This is  the SAG-AFTRA merger hotline. I'm guessing you are in one or both of these. Ask them why they are being sued and why they didn't tell us the AFTFA board of trustees for their P&H says merging the two is going to be difficult. Call and ask
