Debt Collector
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing. Consumer Credit Helpers .org .....Get informed with the proper information. These people helped me out several months ago when this number called me, 855-726-9631. It was a collection agency that was constantly harassing me.

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. I found this advise on Consumer Credit Helpers website. They seem like a ligit company that has been helping a lot of consumers with debt collection companies.

Got the same call with the same threat for the same time! Apparently they only work at 3 pm! I hope they do come by so I can get the information to turn them in! Surely they must think we are all stupid and they can scare us with thier tactics! And for my witness that they require, I will have my uncle who is the police chief be here also!

How many of those testimonials did you write?  There is no way I trust anyone on this board who does on board commercials for a company,  and even gives their phone number to call them.

I just re-read the posts of HelperB and Concerned.  I think they really are doing commercials for Consumer Credit Helpers.  :)  Sounds too Fishy to me not to be.
BTW,  I wonder  just how much they do get paid an hour?

You're raving and you're even giving the phone number?   I think the guy asking how much you got paid an hour is a little more believable than you..

It is not hard to tell which one of you is the scumbag.  Why are you so defensive?  I think I'd rather be an ex employee than an existing one like you.

Jay,  Read   HelperB,  concerned,  and my ole buddy Superfag's posts and tell me they aren't doing a commercial for consumer credit helpers....Probably the same person using different handles.  Pitiful!
I definately am not an ex employee of Superfag's company but I do get a lot of satisfaction in just knowing how to piss him off.  Why is he defending it like it was his sister's virtue?
Kinda touchy about his company being insulted when He,  HelperB,  and concerned works so hard in promoting it.

Very good information for all to read.....Thank you for your post and your effort in gathering  the info.
I don't understand why they just let these people off the hook with a slap on the wrist and small fine.
Regular citizens who make commit a much lesser crime gets the book thrown at them and does time.
Again,  thanks.

I received a call at 2:30 on my house phone saying his name was "Paul Buck" and that I need to call 855-726-9631 and my document number.  He was calling to verify that I would be at my work during the times of 12 and 3 to sign off on documents and I needed a witness.  Then at 2:47 I had a message on my cell phone for me to call the same number and exact same message word for word but the only funny part was it was the exact same voice as on my home phone but his name was "David Bell".  When I called the number back I needed to have a password.  It is total bull s*** and they need to be stopped.

Im located in Central PA!  Where are you guys located?

Found this on this site  http://www.bbb.org/upstate-new-york/business- ... t-ny-235965899/

Apparently someone has not learned their lesson.

NYS Attorney General vs Argos Alliance Group, LLC
Date of Action: 6/21/2012
The NYS Attorney General reached a settlement with John Chebat, who operates several debt collection businesses in the Buffalo area, including Western New York Capital, Inc.; International Asset Group, LLC; Unified Asset Solutions, LLC; Outsourced Legal Prep, LLC; Argos Alliance Group, LLC; and Check Systems Recovery, LLC.

The Attorney General's office entered into an agreement with Chebat requiring him to pay $175,000 in penalties and change his debt collection practices. The investigation concluded that Chebat collectors:

Illegally contacted the employers of consumers.
Illegally sent verification of employment forms to employers demanding information to which they were not entitled to. For example, they demanded social security numbers of consumers.
Illegally sending letters to consumers on the letterhead of a local attorney.
Falsely representing to consumers that, if they did not settle a debt, their case would be referred to a "nationwide network of attorneys" or in-house counsel.
Engaged in Caller ID spoofing, the practice of causing a fictitious local number to be displayed consumer's Caller ID display, including local court phone numbers.
Falsely represented to consumers that they were process servers and were about to serve consumers with legal process.
Falsely represented to consumers that if they did not settle the debt, Chebat would pursue them "according to [the consumer's] Bad Check Laws"
Falsely implied to consumers that they had taken civil judgments when they had not.

In addition to paying $175,000, Chebat must (i) install a system that permits him to monitor the calls of his collectors without their knowledge, (ii) monitor his collectors on a regular basis to ensure that they are complying the law, (iii) bar his employees from engaging in spoofing and representing that they are process servers, and (iv) appoint a compliance officer responsible for ensuring that Chebat's collectors comply with the law.

Maggie,

They called my job one time (not sure how they got the number) and asked the receptionist what was there procedure on issuing a subpoena to employees. I took the call and acted as if I was the supervisor and told them "I don't know what the issue is with you and this person but they no longer are employed here and for future reference this place of employment does not tolerate personal business with employees such as subpoenas being issued that is not company related. Please take care of that type of business away from our premises and on the employees personal time." They never called back.

I don't know what company this person is calling from or for but I received the same call yesterday morning and today from a 281-377-5921. Some idiot that sounded as if he hated his "job" telling me to be available at 3:00 PM at my place of residence with my ID to sign for some legal papers for a debt. Also if I am not home he is prepared to come to my job to submit these papers for me to sign. I do not know what "DEBT" is in regards to and he told me if I have questions to call a 855-726-9631 number with a document number. Sounds like garbage to me. But it is very harassing and I want them to stop.
