Debt Collector
I texted the number he called from and let him know that I called the police. Desk sergeant said to come in and file a report as this is a scam. This guys uses several aliases.  He threatens to show up and tells you to make arrangements with 855-756-9461 or he will go to your work. He called back the following morning from a different number and said his name was Mitchell Green. It is obvious it is the same guy. He is African American and has a very distinct voice.this time I could not text back at the new number he was using. In his newest message, he was rambling, sounded stoned and desperate. He said you better hurry because I am going to your HR department right now! If the damn a** knew what he was talking about, he would have known that I have been on unpaid medical leave for three years and have no company let alone an HR department. Stupid a** ghetto rat!
He must have multiple disposable cel phones. I texted the original and said,"so now your name is Mitchell Green?" I said to give it a rest because it is all over the internet about the Accuprep scam. I also said I was not going to get a Walmart green dot card or wire Western Union and did he know how stupid that sounded?
Needless to say, he never showed up, and there have been no further calls. Bummer because the cops were going to come if he showed up. If you get this call, let the dummy leave a message. Go to the police station and play the message for the desk sergeant. They will file a report and note for an arrest to be made if the stupid a** is dumb enough to show up at your door. Intimidation is against the law. Period. I have three calls on file where this guy lied about his identity, threatened me, and tried to extort money. Even if the creditor filed a lawsuit, it would get thrown out based on all of the violations and I would get up to 1k per violation.
Know your rights people.

I received a call from this number and the girl left a message that I need to sign documents and she needs 2 forms of I'd and my signature and that they would deliver to my home or job. Weird thing is that I have only had my cell# a short time and I have no unpaid bills unless its something from 7-10yrs ago because any debts on my credit were paid. Funny thing is I'm in escrow and all of a sudden I began receiving these calls. 2 days ago it was the 716-504-6850 guy left msg if I didn't call back by 5 he would fwd it out of their office. They are in new York. I'm in California. Also, today from the 3235761908. Obviously if this was a valid debt or if they were still able to collect on it they would of done so by now. They try to scare people and I will not return any calls!

I have been receiving phone calls from a 18557269636, they do not leave any messages and the one time I picked up there were sounds of children playing in the background and a TV playing. I then began getting phone calls from "Robert" at 716-504-6888, 716-504-6882 Telling me he is a Courier service for my county, he is calling from clear across the united states. He would not provide any of the legal information I asked for and began to get aggressive when I refused to give any personal information over the phone. Then I began getting calls from "Anya" From 323-576-1908 reference the same claim telling me I need to contact the 18557269636 number to get this dealt with that all she is, is the messenger bringing me the documentations that I need to sign for and to provide her with my two proofs of ID when she arrives at my home or work place. When I challenged her and told her the post office doesn't even require that she got aggressive, I told her tell me where you are going to be and I will be more then gladly met you with my law enforcement for harassment. She hung up the phone and began calling my place of  residence and then calling family members, which means this was a sold contract for when I bought a car and used them as a co-signer 6 years ago. Because that is the only way those numbers can be related that I have discovered so far. I will be contacting my lawyer to see if she can use these numbers and names to write a letter to them personally, I will also be taking this to my local news channels and my county's district attorneys office as well. This needs to stop, innocent people who do not know their credit reports or are drowning in debt due to a loss of job or what have you panic and pay out of fear. I hope others will stand up as well.

They called left messages saying they are a courier service and do not know what it is regarding, but someone will either show up to my job or residence and I would need to show 2 forms of id. Yeah right.  So I called LM via VM informing them who I was and demanded they not contact me further and that I was forwarding their messages to the District Attorneys' office.
They say these things to try and scare you, but I let them know the only one that is going to be hurting in the end is them due to their fraud.

DO NOT - give them any personal info no matter what they say, and try to obtain as much info from them as possible so you can report them accordingly.

Who's Calling? That Debt Collector Could Be a Fake

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do no
t pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

I got a call from them on Thursday telling me the same thing about the 2 forms of ID.  "Pete" said that he would be at my work Friday to deliver them to me.  It is Monday and he still hasn't shown.  I called the 855-726-9636 number and talked to many people.  I asked them for their address then I called New York to verify the address with them.  According to New York they are not at that address...SHOCKING...I called the company back and they hung up on me...so I called them back again and told them that it is rude to hang up on people..haha  They then hung up on me again.  After that they stopped answering the phones.  I called them the next day and did the same routine again until they stopped answering their phones again...Now today they won't answer...oh well.  They call to harass me so I call right back.

It's unlikely that anyone will actually show up. This is part of an extortion scheme mainly conducted over the phone. They'll call back and try to trick the victim into giving them a credit card or bank account number. The victim should simply hang up and refuse to engage in any conversation with these criminals.

If one of these crooks trespasses on private property, the victim needs to call the police immediately, but that is unlikely.

Your friend can REFUSE to show ID and REFUSE to accept the "document." Can be an ID theft attempt.

I called this number back and spoke with 3 men who all gave different names but sounded very much alike.  They said I needed to pay a debt with a prepaid debit card.  When I asked for the address to send a small payment, i was hung up on.  When i called back, i was given a PO box and told if I mailed my payment there, it would not be cashed.... hmmmm....

My friend got the same call today on her answering machine. He said his name was Jason and he had a sealed document for her an dshe would need two forms of ID to get it. He said he would be at her residence tomorrow and if she wasn't there, then he would go to her work. He called on both phone numbers she has which one is with a cable carrier and the other is a UT number. Don't know how he got the numbers or how he knows where she works. My friend lives in Oklahoma.

Did he follow up with you and did he indicate anything about knowing where you work? Are you in Oklahoma?
