I rec'd a text (!) "please contact NetSpend customer service at 855-732-9060". Looked up NetSpend and it appears to be a prepaid credit card provide - maybe related to the companies others named

My friend worked for the contracting company that pge uses a few months back. He said pge sends a list of people on their care program for this company to call. It is cold calling and they do get a commission on every person who signs up with them. He also told me that he would not trust the people they send out as they are sketchy.

This is a legitimate call. Bay Area Energy Group is contracted by PG&E to implement their Energy Savings Assistance Program. The reason PG&E says that they do not call people for this program is because they do not. They have hired several contractors in the bay area to implement the program for them, as they do no have a department which does this. When they are saying they are calling with PG&E energy savings assistance program it is because they are. The program includes a 2 year extension of the CARE program and free energy efficiency upgrades to the home for those who qualify, based on predetermined income guidelines. It is not a scam. You can find a list of the contractors for pg&e on their website at http://www.pge.com/en/myhome/customerservice/ ... gram/index.page
There is a link on the left which says find a contractor. There you will find Bay Area Energy Group as well as the other contractors in the Bay Area. PG&E contracted these companies to call you. Also when they come to your home to conduct the energy audit, they also ask for documents to verify your income. It is because they have to verify that your income is within the guidelines to prove you do qualify for the program, and they need documentation to verify that information. Nothing more.

I got a called from this number 855-732-9060 as well. The first call I missed. They didn't leave a mgs. They called again the next day, I answered. A lady id herself from PG&E CARE program, and asked me how many people lived at my house, and if I owned or rented. I answered her questions. She then said someone would come over, show me their id and come in to my house to verify my income (??!!) to keep me in the CARE program, and see if there is something they can do to help. I told her if they wanted to verify my income, send me some papers to fill out. I don't want anyone to come into my house. She asked why there was a problem for someone to come into my house. I said no, don't come. People don't come to your house to verify income. Nobody does that...I regret giving her the info.

If this is PG&E, I have not used PG&E services and have not lived in Northern California for over 3 years, but apparently my ex-wife has them convinced that I do.

Again these jerks are calling, I told them to stop several times. I called PG&E and asked if they make these calls and they said no. Anywsay I yelled at this jerk and dropped several F-bombs and called him a fraud.
If they were legit, would they keep calling over and over? I think not.
Too bad donotcall.gov is unavailable due to the shutdown.

I got a call just now. He knew my first name and announced himself as PG&E and were doing "community service" in my neighborhood and that meant possible free home upgrades for me. I was skeptical but let her continue. She asked if I owned my home, at which point I said I'm not giving her any information. She quickly said good-bye. It seemed suspicious to me.
Caller: PG&E (allegedly)
Call Type: Telemarketer

Same experience as others noted here. Luckily I looked up the number while she was making her intro and could just say we weren't interested. Now hopefully they'll stop calling!

Caller identified himself as working with PG & E, identifying customers eligible for the Energy Savings Assistance Program. Wanted income and other personal information to see if we qualified to receive free energy saving advice and products. Wanted to make an appointment to come to my home for "an Energy Audit". I declined to give any information and he made it sound almost like I was required to give him the info he was asking for. I don't think so, Sonny!
So, I asked some questions of my own and discovered he actually works for Bay Area Energy Group, of Santa Clara, as a salesperson. They are subcontractors of PG & E, providing and installing weatherization, insulation etc. If you qualify for the Assistance Program, you can get certain services for free, but you have to be low-income (see PG & E website for details)

THIS IS NOT PG&E ! I just called PG&E to make sure and they stated that they are NOT making these calls.
Please report these jerks and add your complaint @ Donotcall !

Got call from someone saying they were PG&E concerning their energy savings program. People that qualify are those making less than $39,000 per year.
| Boss Man 2013-05-22 14:57:37 Unknown |
said they were part of pg&e energy saving program. seems very unprofessional and ghetto. well call pg&e to verify.
