Collectors posing as attorneys. Total scam. Hang up.

For at least the last year, an illegal group of debt collectors have been terrorizing consumers, their family, friends, and employers threatening to arrest the individual of an unpaid loan or other debt (their generally don't even owe). Be aware debt is a civil matter, not a criminal matter, and you can't be arrested. The threaten a warrant if the victim does not pay a sum of money by the credit card over the phone.

Although when pressed the callers give the victim an address in Columbia South Carolina (usually a vacant lot). They are actually out of the Charlotte North Carolina area. The scammers are using the following business names

Sanderson Blaine & Associates
McKenzie Reid Associates
Kennedy, Kline, & Associates

I contacted the corporate office of the original debt holder and provided a copy of the paid in full letter to them and copied Kaufman and associates. Kaufman and associates are frauds. I was told this by the debt holder of my account I paid in 2/2012. Please report them. A Ms. Karen Brown and Michelle Clark called along with Robert Kern

We get a lot of telemarketer calls.  We ha updated the do not call lit but that does not seem to stop the calls.  I want our name or number removed.  Thank You.  No company name showed on caller ID.

this company is not kaufman and associates when i called they said rossci and deluca something like that  they 855 736 5463 and 8557468252 are stealing the real law firms name trying to copy them i investigated this number and these numbers do not belong to kaufman and associates

This number called my home and cell number looking for someone in my family...someone that has never lived here.  The guy was VERY rude and told me that I had better get a hold of this person.  He also said that is someone suing this person and if i don't forward the message, they will come here looking for him.  The more I asked questions, the ruder the caller became.  There is no way this is real.  I called the police and filed a complaint.  

I started receiving calls from these people from phone number 855-736-3678 immediately after telling Ledbury Management Group, P.O. Box 675, Buffalo, N.Y. 14207 to send information and to quit calling me.  Ledbury had failed on 4 prior occasions to mail the information on what they were trying to collect.  Ledbury's number is 855-765-9662.  I would suspect that Ledbury Management Group is just another of Kaufman and Associates shell companies being used to support this fraud. Everyone who is contacted by these thieves should file the proper complaints with the legal agencies posted in this forum.

Please use caution when dealing with this company. They used our number to reach my husband's ex-wife of 20+ years. We asked that they stop calling on two occasions. On the third phone message, I called and made it clear that the calls should stop. They denied having our names or phone number in the system. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was told one was not available. The woman kept talking over me and would not listen and placed me on hold... and did not return. I called back and got a male "Reilly" who gave me the same song and dance. When I asked to have the full name of the managing attorney (Kauffman and Assoc is suppose to be a law firm) I was placed on hold and then disconnected. I called back and the same guy answered. When I asked his name, he said it was "Chris." I told him that he sounded exactly like Reily" and he stated that there were "three other black guys in the office" and I must be confused. I re-iterated my point that they were harassing my family and it needed to stop. He hung up again.

This company kept calling my husband at work... Saying they were sending a sheriff to my house to arrest me!  Too bad for them that this scam was attempted on him several years ago!

So just to prove that its bogus he called them back, gave them the case number 8675309.... They asked him for the defendants name... He said "Jenny"...  
They looked up "Jenny"'s case and told him that it was urgent that this claim is settled... They read him all of the same scripted lies and threats about Jenny's case that they read him about my so called case. Finally my husband told them that it is really ironic that 867-5309 "Jenny" is in their system because it's also a song from the 80's... They hung up on him...

Btw... Other things that they claim is that the call is being recorded, as they are calling on a federal line. When asked if they work for the government they will give you some crap about investigating to collect information that will be used in federal court.  Ask them how many attorneys work for their firm, they tell you "several".  They also claimed to have persons working on this case in a branch office located in your town! When my husband told this company that I didn't do anything wrong they said "well how do you know?...every one has their secrets"!

I filed a complaint with www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint also blocked the numbers on my iphone and sprint account. Good riddings!!!

Received a call from Investigator stating I owe for a loan back 2004; I had no clue what they were talking about. They said I can settle in court or out of court. Said I owe $3500. I am debit free and owe no one with A1 credit. I only have a mortgage. Whats scary is they had my last 4 of SSA and dob but needed to verity my address. Is this a scam? So I called the debtor they claimed I owed $3500. HSBC (credit card) states my account has been closed since 2009 and has not been sold to anyone. Who is Kaufmann & Associates @ 855-736-5463?? Calling about a old credit account from 2005. Saying it was a time thing, and did I want to settle out of court, and take care of it today.

This 855-736-5463 has been leaving msgs. On my voice mail,,calling my sons looking for me, the defendant"" needing any information as to "the defendants" whereabouts??? Leaving a case # to reference?? What to do??   These calls are unsettling", to say the least....

Get in touch with your bank or credit card company and try to stop payment or reverse charges.  This is a total scam. Report 'em to police.

I too got  a phone from these people with the same bs. Said they have 2 pending charges 1 bank fraud and I Dont rember the other. I was at work and freaking out said that they Will sue me for 7000. So like an idiot I gave them my info. BC I didn't want t to go to court. After I did that I remember I paid that bill off but these people said that the creditor never received my payments. Not sure what to do next.

Kiss your money goodbye and thank yourself for contributing to this continuing scam. On the bright side, you learned your lesson and won't fall for it again.

Talk to the financial institution you used to pay them. If they are any good, they will reimburse you your money and investigate the fraud.

What do I do if I paid these guys?

This same number 855736-5436 calls my home numerous times a day. I don't owe anyone nothing. What can be done to stop these kind of annoying phone calls? I am sick of all the threats and filthy comments they say to me. They will not identify themselves all they do is leave messages or hang up.
