DA shut down these business this week : Paradise Escapes, Inc. doing business as Divine Getaways, Packaged Vacations and Fantasy Vacations.
The company was conducing sales presentations in hotels throughout Johnson County in 2011.
According to the restraining order, the company would mail postcards to consumers inviting them to sales presentations under the promise of free cruises or other travel benefits for attending.
Prosecutors allege the business did not provide ?adequate notice of the three-day right to cancel, failing to obtain proper licensing and by denying consumers access to the services they purchased until after the right to cancel expired.?
Anyone who may have been impacted by the business is asked to call the office?s consumer hotline at (913) 715-3003.

So how many cruises/ vacations have you taken if you've only been a member for 5 months. Are you possibly associated with Packaged Vacations, LLC? :)
I saw on the web that a district attorney shut down this travel business Paradise Escapes, Inc. doing business as Divine Getaways, Packaged Vacations and Fantasy Vacations.

Did you go on the cruise? Did you get the airfare for two too? Did it cost you $299/person to get your voucher? Just making sure - my husband and I went to the presentation, didn't buy but were planning on taking advantage of the voucher and adding my twins to the trip but don't want to waste my $600 up front if it isn't worth it.

What caught my attention was that Complementary is spelled wrong and that it is not affiliated with Carnival Cruise Lines.
Thanks for the tip, I didn't give it a thought that it may be a $35 per minute phone number.

I recieved a card in the maiI. I went to 3pm appointment on Saturday at the Wingate on Beacon in Greenville, SC. They had me feel out an information sheet asking name, address, cruise experience, ect. She asked to see credit card but said I could cover the number just needed to see the expiration date. After waiting for approx. an hour I was told that no one else showed. She said I did not have to do the 90 minute presentation but I could still get the cruise pkg. I was given the Perfect Select Rewards pkg Signed by Tracy Matthew. She gave me her phone number if we had questions 864-395-5772. There is a fee for each of the Perfect select rewards offered. What is Fantasea Cruise??? Please be careful something about this did not seem right.

I got the same notice... Call Carnival and let them know of the scam. After that the Best thing to do to get even with folkes like this is Post something for free on Craigslist. Make it look cool and post pix using there PH# as a contact. Make sure you click the hide emall adress button. They will be flooded with calls and have to change their game plan. (Payback is a Bi***)! This will put them out of work for a bit.
Best of luck and share this info with everyone you know.

HI PVLady.
I somewhat agree with your post. I think it's just a matter of abiding by the rules and following directions to a tee. And if you're anything like myself, OCD...LOL, then it may just work out for you. But, I do have one question. So, what cruise liner does the company use to send individuals on vacation? Do you know by chance? I searched online and saw 2 different companies, one called Fantasea, and another company, although one of them mentioned about nudity???? Do you happen to know what cruise line they are using?

My wife and I have both received those postcards in the last 2 weeks. Naturally I checked it out with Google. Your site is the best! I've read all 5 pages on this subject and am rolling in the aisles with laughter. Excellent comments!

C'mon lady, you can't be for real.... anyone want a good deal, get a costco membership and use their travel site -- the best deal out there and your costco membership will save you money too! Anyone who would tout this travel club as a benefit is either working for them or a fool!

I got this card yesterday and I just called and was told I'd have to go to Rye, NY to the Marriott, which isn't far. I would do it and sit through a presentation to get the cruise but I'd have to bring my husband. No way would he go. Oh well. If I could go alone I would. I'm not gullible, they would never sell me anything.
Teresa 2011-08-16 12:57:09 Unknown
I got the card too. I am a travel agent and knew immediately it was a scam. They do offer 5 and 7 night cruises out of Charleston. They are doing away with the 6 night.
We got something similar to this a few years ago offering free airfare to/from anywhere in the US and agreed beforehand we were not going to pay any money; we were just going to listen and get the free tickets. When they found out I was a travel agent, they didn't want to talk to me anyway. They did finally give me the information for my free airfare but when I got home and tried to book our reservation, everything I tried was "unavailable". I tried various dates, destinations and departures and nothing was available. Thankfully the only thing we spent was our time which is valuable enough but we learned something!

Got the same postcard and called and set up a time and date at the holiday inn here in Washington d.c. Live just a few minutes away so thought what the heck. My wife and I have been on tons of cruises and know they are not cheap so i figured a cheap cruise would be nice knowing it surely wasn't free. After thinking about it I started looking into the background of the this card and have come across many boards with people discussing the scam!!!!!,! These people or some of these people have been arrested in new jersey. Beware!!!!!!
Careful 2011-08-16 00:14:10 Unknown
I just called this number and spoke with a guy at the "call center" and he explained that first you go to a meeting at a hotel depending on your location and that's where you get all the information about membership fees, etc. You are not obligated to become a member, but I tore the card up. These people are making money on the memberships, so I suspect that they work hard on getting people to sign up.
Jackrabbit 2011-08-15 22:16:03 Unknown
Hello,
The the way that I can tell for sure that you got ripped off, is that there is no 8/7 day cruise out of Charleston on Carnival. We went on one in May 2011, and took a 5 day cruise. Check it out for your self, and you will see that they only offer 6 day cruises.
PVLady 2011-08-14 21:52:59 Unknown
I know plenty of people who have bought they're membership & we're happy with it & still are. This company is for real; Sorry you people seem to think it's a scam but perhaps you should look a little deeper. As I said, I've known & currently know many people who have bought a membership with this company who are still very happy with their purchase & because of the purchase have said TONS on vacations, not only for themselves, but for family members that they had on their "family plan" as they called it. It's a real deal. Not fake.

Just got back from their 'Tour'. Rec'd postcard for free 7 day cruise, I called the 800 number and he explained that I would have to pay port fees and taxes..around $200. He also said that this company, Package Vacation, was doing these tours to see if they wanted to open a brick and mortar store in Scottsdale. During tour, the person explained that there is one brick and mortar and all others are held in hotels. Super deals were presented..Cruises from $280, $321. Too good to be true. The membership fee started at $10k...but was discounted to $4.4k...then later down to $2.4k...then down to $1.3...then forclosured one was offered for $2K. It was grueling and I had to keep telling them that I did not need the membership. I want to spend more time...vacations with family members. The third person we spoke with stressed that financially affordable....$80 Month. I told him that the packages seem to have a lot of value, but I don't see that I needed the membership. We received a Perfect Select Rewards flyer to chose our free item. All items have some kind of fee associated with them.. Fantasea Cruise W/ Airfare...$299 per person, double occupancy...$50 per person deposit required upon activation of the certificate.

I think Daryl Turner is now having his presentations in New York! I went to one 90 minutes session( I got the post card with the "complementary cruise") and we said NO. The company name is "Package Vacations, LLC". After the presentation, we received a voucher from Perfect Select Rewards for a free cruise. After researching on the Internet, I stumbled onto the story by Karin Price Mueller at http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://media.nj.com/business_impact/photo/967 ... wM8O70AG0yuHkDg
Today we received a second postcard from "Package Vacations", same as the the first one-so I called and found out that the next presentation is on Augst 3, 4, 5, at the Rye Marriot at 631 Midland Avenue · Rye, New York 10580. I would guess at the same time as it was last week-7:45 PM. Tempted to hand out flyers of the article listed above...
Based on the Final Consent Judgment, Turner was banned from owning, operating, advertising and/or selling of vacation packages for five years in the state of New Jersey.
Is there anything we can do to stop this scammer? This HAS to be stopped!
I am emailing you and hope you follow up on this.

I am curious; did they ask you to pay $49.95 each for a couple to attend the meeting
