It only makes sense to the scammers who are trying to scare you enough that you'll pay some bogus debt.  The callers are not in the US, and do not know much about our legal system.  You can report the call to the FTC, FBI and your state's Attorney General.  And don't worry - your callers can't do anything to you and certainly can't take you to court.

Received an upsetting message from 0000000000 saying I was named in civil investigation complaint and must respond within 48 hours as it involved restraining order and gave a complaint number.  Said attorney or I had 48 hours to respond.  Does not make sense.  

A fraudulent and scam number called me and left me a claim number and phone number and it was all a scam

Mine was the same............in Washington.  Scared the hell out of me, but there isn't anyone after me.  I do know I've been getting solicitors, etc. lately, so I'm assuming that telemarketers and scammers got my number off the internet recently.  You can't get back on this phone number they left, so it's just designed to rattle your cage I guess.  People ought to try working for a living instead of harassing others who are.

I recieved a call from 88888888 saying that I was a respondent in a suit and had a restraining order against me. I work for the courthouse here in my city and there is nothing. This is a scam. I believe nationally. So if they do call dont give them any of your information. They are looking to get money any way they can. They will try to scare you in so many ways possible. Tell them if they want to talk to you have their attorney calls yours.

i got a robocall this morning also.  I live in Scottsdale.  Where are the rest of you from?  Is this a local scam or national? I called the number after blocking my number and received a message that the number wasn't set up to receive calls.

I just got a call from 000-000-0000 saying I was about to have a restraining order placed on me!! I freaked out and called the number they gave me 855-765-6716, not set up to take calls. Then I called thye Civil Courts to find out, they have no record of the number I was given. So this is a scam, for what purpose? makes no sense, can someone enlighten me please

they constantly call, and ive even talked to someone before telling them they have the WRONG NUMBER because its for a Heather Douglas and to take me off the call list and i still get calls from this number that lead to NO WHERE!! annoying!

I just got the same call and i tried calling it back only to get a message saying this number isnt setup to take calls... So I assume this is bs..

I keep getting the same messages.  I have blocked them from my phone but they seem to have alot of numbers they call from.  I Block one number and they start using another.  I work for a law firm and have given them the numerous numbers these SCAMMERS call from.  These SCAMMERS will be taken care of.

i got the same call,the lady said i got a payday loan in 09 and they were gonna proscute me for bad checks,and fraud,they did know a little about me ss # and a bank i use to bank at years ago.i went to the bank they said its a scam

Got an automated call from this number saying I had a civil suit and restraining order filed against me.  It instructed me to forward the affidavit number to my attorney.  My son got the message and it scared him to death.  I would like to file a restraining order against whoever left this message!

Called me about retaining order and attorney.  Left affidavit number,  fumny part is the number for call back isn't good. I am an attorney do was going to call and bust it open but you can't call it back
