I don't know who they are as I don't answer unknown numbers. But they do call a lot and they don't leave a message. I am getting tired of it.

computerized voice, couldn't even pronounce the persons name they were trying to reach, or the person has a name that even a computer cannot pronounce properly; which means they don't live with us. pressed button to be removed and let them know that no such person does/never has lived with us, nor have any of us ever heard of. and they "tried to" repeat the persons name 15+ times "to make sure we knew who they were looking for" so they said, and they were told every time that no one hear has ever heard of them.... and that is each time they "tried" to say the name of who they were looking for.

Sorry, but the 3 times a day rule is not valid. If you got this from someone else you should let them know. The FDCPA makes no provision for the number of times a day a DCA can call you.

A debt collector may not call you repeatedly or continuously to annoy, abuse, or harass you or others who share the number. Federal law doesn?t give a specific limit on the number of calls.

It has to be in writing, because otherwise you really have no proof you told them that. Good luck on getting an address to mail it to. That was the reason I called my phone provider to make them back off. They are allowed to call you 3 times in one day, before it is considered harassment, not before 8am & not after 9pm. I took a course on collections because it was a part of my job, only my was companies only, not personal accounts, but the course was very thorough about what the law states & what you can & cannot do. If they do call before 8am or after 9am, try to get a name & keep a log, you can use that in a court of law in case you want to sue. Have a great day.
vgs1128 2014-05-04 17:27:00 Unknown
Good luck, they don't believe you, everyone in their world is a liar. They will continue to call because they figure that eventually the person they are calling for will pick up the phone. They did that to me, & I had to get my phone company involved before they quit.

This is the number that Credit Management out of Grand Island, Nebraska uses when they call you. No matter how many times you tell them that they have the wrong number, they will still continue to harass you. Here's the company's website: http://www.credit-mgmt.com/

That's the most helpful, complete and sensible answer I've seen so far....and it makes sense to me.
(I also appreciate those who type in complete sentences and use capitals, punctuation, etc.)

And BTW - if it's truly a LEGITIMATE business, telemarketer, or debt collector - they won't be calling you too late in the evening, or too early in the morning. That "debt collector" might not even BE a debt collector - could be a SCAM to get you to send somebody some money, you don't know who it is, or if it's legit. DON'T SEND ANYBODY ANY MONEY unless you have verified their legitimacy! :)
savvyoldlady 2014-01-13 17:15:00 Unknown
CallerID returns no info for this number, indicating it may be FAKE. Telemarketers are sneaking their way around the "do not call" lists that you added your number to, by now getting your number, and generating a FAKE number that shows up on your phone as their "return" number. DO NOT ANSWER any call from a number you don't recognize - if it's legit, or a friend or something, they'll leave you a proper message, and you can call them. If there is no message, don't worry about it, block the number and go on with your life. DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER BACK, in an attempt to find out who it is! Most likely, it's FAKE, and you can be re-directed to a telemarketer through a number that you DON'T KNOW where it is - including area codes all over the U.S., not toll-free, and even OUTSIDE OF THE U.S. If you don't have International Calling in your calling plan, you can be CHARGED EXTRA for that call, and it can be a LOT OF MONEY if that telemarketer sucks you into a 15-30 minute sales pitch! These scuzzbums are operating outside of the law - be SMART, don't get sucked into them!
If it's a debt collector - they leave an automated message something like this: "This call is for _____(your real name) If this is not_____ (you) please delete this message, as it contains private information. You have (X) number of seconds to delete this message"...then wait, and it'll say, this is an attempt to collect a debt, blah blah blah...DON'T CALL THEM BACK, whether it's really for you or not - they'll just call you MORE, because they got "a live one". They are scuzzbums too. Block them, too!
Stay safe, everyone - and remember: it is YOU who controls your phone that you pay for - NOT those scuzzbums! :)
savvyoldlady 2014-01-13 16:38:14 Unknown
Why have you not blocked the number, since you "can't take it anymore"??? Get yourself a call blocker, then add the number to your block list, sweetie...

I have no clue as to who this is but they keep calling and never leave a message. I figure if they don't leave a message it must not be to important. I do wish they would stop calling me. They are a pain in my butt and waste of time in my life. I never get calls like this on my cell. I'd really like them to take my name off their database! Beware everyone!
unhappy 2013-09-27 13:55:21 Unknown
this company called me at 6:30 a.m. I refused to answer that time of the morning. I KNOW that is illegal to call that time of the day. Do not know what they want, they did NOT leave a message. If they really are a legit company they would leave a message.

They called me saying it was a $255 debt for Charter Communications from being disconnected in 2010 and wanted me to give them a credit card over the phone to pay for it. I told the woman that I didn't have Charter in 2010, I've had DirecTV since 2007. She said that it was under my social security number so what do I want to do to clear the debt. I told her to not call me at work again, that I know nothing about any debt, never received any written communication from "Credit Management", and then I hung up. She was still talking away as I disconnected the line. Scam artists.
