Same as all previous posts!  Collectors or "Investigators" as they like to call themselves today are resorting to using the tactics of sounding like they're coming from a court order and that they are a server serving papers or some type of action for a criminal type of activity that you're involved in.  They talk about serving papers at whatever addresses you have...they'll name all all they have listed and also say that they'll be coming to your place of employment with the hopes of scaring you to call them to prevent you from being embarrassed while at work.

Do this...Don't answer any unknown calls.  If it's important (& from someone you know) they'll leave a message and if it's anything like the above disregard the message.  

Moreover, if you have a smartphone learn to block any of those #'s and put it on a blocked list so you'll never have to even hear it ring and they won't be able to leave a message.  You can even port your # to Google Voice which has all these abilities and which can be on any cell phone or carrier of your choosing.  Run your personal credit like businesses do.  When it's no longer economical for you for the debt you "may" owe or that is owed by you...let it go (ie biz file close their biz & reopen)...your credit will improve and if you need help contact a credit repair place.  If it turns out that you do and it's verified with paperwork from the original creditor & not a collection company than work out a repayment plan but a discounted one...and if you can't discount it make sure it's on your terms on what you can afford regardless of what you agreed to when you first got the loan/credit card or what they want.  Bottomline, it's no longer viable for you under your current finances and if they can't work with you then let it go and they'll have to sell the debt at a loss to a collection company.

Treat your personal credit profile as it's own business or as a business owner would and always rebuild if you have to.  Life happens and people get into financial challenges (admittedly by bad personal choices) but life's life and things happen.  Just learn from it.  It's not the end of the world.  Move on and let the finance companies do their business...they chose to be in it and this is just part of it.  Do What's Best For You & Your Family...ALWAYS!

exactly the same for me

Got the same type of message today that most of you have had. They try to scare you with coming to your house or place of residence and want you to call back to confirm your address and also give you a confirmation number...yeah right! It is a scam and it would be nice if police were to crack down on these people....I have other things to do rather than deal with these scams. I could not hear if the company was HCR or ACR.

Simply go online or call your county Clerk of Court. If they have no recent record of them or you, the "legal papers" don't exist.

They just called me private a few minutes ago it was investigator Miller, left a message saying they received a fax from ACR Associates and their serving me with some legal paper's tomorrow. I think it's a scam, they can serve all they want, I'm not opening my door for them!

So did they show up at your door?? They just called me and left a message...kinda freaked me out!!

Investigator Miller with the Liason's office, or so the caller said, they had legal papers to serve me with that were from a legal matter tied to my name and social security number...He said he was coming to my house to serve paperwork in the morning...Funny, the police usually don't call ahead when they are going to serve paperwork! I believe they can serve these papers by certified mail. I didn't answer the call, I only just got a message with this information and the 855 call back number.

Jeremy Thompson said there is a lawsuit under my name and address. Haven't had the last name in 8 years ago don't know what they are talking about. He had my address though and said he was verifying it because he is coming over to serve legal papers. I'd like to see him try to step foot on my property. Said they were from ACR legal or some crap. He also mumbles ago i couldn't hardly understand what he was saying.

They call saying they are trying to contact me with info about a lawsuit trying to verify my address but wont call from a listed number but call mysteriously under a Private Number.
