855-801-1634 was posted in an email asking me to call and addresses the email in my name on an old email i barely use but kept open.

If you ask them to send something in the mail, such as proof of debt, they will hang up on you. They are not legitimate debt collectors.

They just assume the person they are calling has current debt or some very old unpaid debt so they use this as an excuse to call people randomly to get personal information and/or money. Don't let them scare you.  

The reason they are asking for SS number is because they are also identity thieves posing as a collection agency. Both phone 855 numbers on the ID Caller are spoofed so that they cannot be traced.

Don't give them information or money and don't let them scare you. They have no real authority.  

He has called twice a day for 2 months. I finally answered and he wanted to talk to my daughter. I asked that he stop calling me, and he replied that he wasn't  calling me but were calling my daughter. He wouldn't tell who he was with. I said he should stop calling my number. This has continued.

They say they are FMF keep calling me and I finally answered the phone and they wanted to verify my ssn and address and I said no.We owe nothing to anyone.Told them to quit calling

Well I just talked to them.  Yelled at the first girl who had my CELL phone number.  She hung up on me.  I called them back.  Got another girl.  They are a collection agency.  They asked me for my address.  Figured if they had my cell phone number (and like NOBODY has this number outside of family members) they probably have that.  She asked me for my social security number.  I asked her for an easier question.  She said answer yes or no and gave me the last for digits of my daughter's number.  Also the person they asked for.  She then informed she she didn't know how they had gotten my number but the account was in debt and yadda, yadda.  I told her that I would feel more comfortable taking this up with Kohl's directly.  She stated she could waive all sorts of fees.  I said that's nice, but I will still talk to Kohl's first.  She asked to call her back tomorrow after I'd spoken to Kohl's.

So, in short.  They are legitimate, at least part of the time.  I am not saying all the time.  But they are a credit collection agency and they do seem to possess a certain amount of credable knowledge about the account they do have name, address, social security number (or at least the last four digits) and account information, last payment, amount due, etc.

Calls several times a day, every day!  We have picked up a few times and no one is there.  Usually only rings about 3 times, then they hang up.  EXTREMELY IRRITATING!!  Have about had enough of them...just about ready to start filing official complaints!

We are having the same issues.  We work out of home, and they are calling our home number SEVERAL times a day.  Usually only rings 3 times, and they never leave a message.  I'd really like to report them for harrassment.  I know they are NOT calling on any of our debts.  I am wondering if the people who used to have our number is who they are actually targeting...we get a lot of calls here for them still.  They are a real pain in the a**!  We have tried answering on a couple of occasions, but no one says anything.  Maybe they know something about "flying under the radar" since the phone generally only rings 3 times.  At minimum think I will look into blocking them!

This number has been calling for a couple weeks at least twice a day, now that I see it is  collection service, we do not have to worry about it anymore. We don't owe you a thing. We do wish you would go away tho you are such a pain.

they have been calling for days and hanging up.
I finally called them and they wanted a distant relative who does not live, nor has never lived with us.
I asked them to remove my number and they seemed happy to do so.
