I'm sitting here hoping that you don't call him back.  usually this type of thing ends up in a scam.

I got a call from them trying to mask an accent and told me to call them back about an important business matter at 1-888-397-2796. He called himself Sam Cooper.

I'm getting calls from Evans Law Associates looking for Miguel Saldavar, someone I don't even know. I just got my phone number recently after having changed it and I work nights and sleep days. They call me in the morning and in the afternoon looking for this person and wake me up while I am trying to get some sleep before working. I have called them 3 or 4 times telling them that I don't know this person and to stop calling me, but the calls just keep coming. They say they will remove my number from their call list but haven't done so yet. Today I looked them up online and found out they are a debt collection agency. I have no knowledge of anyone by the name of Miguel Saldavar but have had many calls from these people looking for this person. It's very annoying and aggravating.

Raven what ever happened with this? i just recieved a call from them yesterday and returned their call today they were stating that i owed everest $1600. So i am just curious to know what ever happened with your situation?

My grandparents are getting calls from this "Evans Law Associates" who they spoke with a Diana that they needed to get a hold of me about a "Legally Required Notice" and needed my phone number BUT she has my mailing address. I know who I am in debt with and the collection companies I am paying. I'm glad I looked this up. Thank you all for posting!!!

i also received a call from Lewis Cafarella, he left 855-865-7688 ext 143, i called him back and spoke with him for about 10 min. nice fellow, but it was about a debt that i owed 2 years ago, i didn't pay it, cuz well, i just can't right now due to my circumstances. but he wasnt your typical bill colector, calling several times per day and harrasing, in fact from what he said it's not a collection agency at all, it is a law firm, he works for Jason J. Evans, an attorney, the firm is called Evans Law Associates, he gave me Mr. Evans bar # and a site to go to but I didn't right it down. It's not a collection agency but a ligitamate law firm, I just hope he pleaded my case and they won't try to place judgement against me.

They finally just started leaving messages on my answering machine. One call referred to me by my middle name and the two following referred to me by my first name. On the last call Lewis Cafarella said he had been trying to get in touch with me to resolve this by friendly means and it sounded like he said he was calling from the J. Savin Law Firm. I listened to it twice. One call sounded fuzzy like it may have been a cell phone. The number he gave was 855-865-7688 ext. 143. He is still asking for me to verify the address they have for me. I have a land line and am in the phone book. It seems like he is fishing for info.

Had two messages yesterday on my answering machine from someone named Kelly saying that I needed to call them back to discuss "my case".  I don't have a "case" pending and never heard of the law firm "Evans Law Group".  Haven't called them back.

My parents got a call from a Lewis Cafarella from Evans Law Firm needing to talk to me regarding sending some paperwork. He had to talk to me before he could send it. I used Dawn Marie's link and the page that popped up said "This website coming soon."

This is a classic implausible shill story .... "I got sued but the plaintiff made it aaaalll better." When you're named as a defendant in a debt case, will your first instinct be to run and tell everyone on a mystery caller site? Probably not, since you'll already have some way to contact the collector right there in the summons, and you have more than likely seen a dunning letter about the same account weeks beforehand.

It's easy to offer a settlement "discount" when debts are purchased for maybe eight percent of face value, or worse yet, the debt is invalid. Never assume that a third party collector is out to do any favors. Do not rely on anything they say which is not printed and sent on real paper. They have to prove their claims, and frequently cannot, if you challenge them,

Have called my parents home and leaving a garbled message and the phone number to call and a reference number to give. The tip off was the person addressing my father by his nickname which no one uses but family

You don't find it the least bit strange that they are sending you information via e-mail? They are called scam artists. It's what they are professionals at doing. You should look a little further into this before you continue to pay them your money. I am only trying to help due to the fact that when I called the actual source that they said I owed money, they had no idea what I was talking about. Good luck.

I got a call from Mr. Jim Wheeler stating that I owed $1,900 to Everest University. I contacted Everest and was informed that I did not owe them a single penny. They then had me contact the Student Resource Dept. and file a complaint. This is so horrible.

I was served with a summons yesterday in regards to a credit card I had defaulted on two years ago when I lost my job. I have been trying to track down this debt to take care of it. I did some research on this company and they are legit. www.evan-law.com . I came across this page in my research. I called them up and spoke with a rep, and they offered to settle it for less than what the origional charge off was. They then proceded to send it to me in writing via e-mail in PDF. I am making two payment this month via each paycheck to close this out.. You all can do what you want. I just thought I would give a good experience that I personally had. Good luck to everyone!

This Jim Wheeler guy called my house again this morning. I asked him what this is about, and it was some Debt for Firestone Tires. I told him he had the wrong guy, he then asked me about a social security #, he gave me the last 4 digits of somebody's, and nope, not mine, then he asked me for mine, so I them put him in check. Who the f*** do you think you are a***ole, you have the WRONG GUY!!!!!!!!  He tried to ask me for my personal info and I finally told him, "You are a scam, stop calling me, you have the wrong guy, My wife works for an Attorney, LOSE MY NUMBER!!!  He said, sorry for the call, never mind...Whatever........Don't fall for it PEOPLE!!!!!!!

Yep, me too. they called from a 949-527-0017, 716-651-0351 and 855-865-7688. Same Law Firm. Evans Law Associates, Jim Wheeler. Had a file #. Bunch of b***s***. Already had my attorney look into it. There are criminal filings already on these people. Don't fall for it. They are scammers and lying sacks of s***!
