A Pam Smalls from Check Mediation Services (855-205-9501) called the CEO of the company and said that there was a small claims suit filed against me in San Mateo County and I am to call her. She said I used him as a reference which is a complete and total lie. I have been working with a company who deals with these payday loan companies and have been advised not to contact CMS. But for this person to do something like that it uncalled for and I believe illegal. Where should I report them? Thanks.

I just called this number and some guy answered the phone by saying hello. I thought this was company? I asked why someone from this number has been calling me and my family about some legal case, he asked me for a my file number and I stated that I don't have one. He then asked for my phone number and I gave him cell, which they apparently already had because have been calling. He said my number did not come up and I asked then why have you been calling and then he hung up. The only thing I can think is that I took out an online loan a few years back which I owed money, but I'm currently paying that back. Not sure how he got my info, unless it was given to him. I think it's a scam!

Any additional follow up with this group. I got a call this morning and have no idea to what they are referring. I'm finding them to be less than forthcoming with information.

Hey, just got a call from them as well - 11-22-2011 asking for a Ms. Washington. Returned the call to report they had a wrong number. The answering service indicated this was a "Checks Mediation Service". The last part of the message they had left me, the woman stated "I had been notified," whatever the hell that was supposed to mean... Perhaps a business that performs debt collection for bad checks or payments?
