Academy Services. Lying and abusive company that buys old debt for collection. They were exposed by Dateline on 03/27/09. Look it up on Youtube.

They call me at all hours and even on Sunday. I am on the DO NOT CALL list but that doesn't seem to matter to them.

Calling for someone who has moved 3 years ago. Have repeatedly asked for them not to call here any more. I would like them to stop harrasing us.

I keep receiving calls from this company. They are trying to collect on a debt from someone who used to have my number. I have told them probably over ten times that they have the wrong number and I have had this phone number since the fall of 2008. However, the calls don't stop. I just filed a complaint with the FTC.

Got a call from these scums on my cell phone, they are trying to collect on a debt from someone who has not lived here for 5 years. Today I am mailing them a certified letter telling them to stop calling me, after I have confirmation they have received my letter and they call again I will find who their Ca. agent is and see that person in small claims court like the law allows.

These scumbags call me 5 or 6 times a day from 7 am to 10 pm. I don't have a collection outstanding, but they claim I had a credit card 15 years ago with a balalce that accumulated to $600.00. I can't seem to get them to leave me alone! They are as low as collection agencies get!

This number is one of several used by Academy Collections Service. In my case, they are employed by Target - Retailers National Bank. My ex-husband ran up a bunch of debt on our joint Target VISA right before the divorce was final. They already know he won't pay, but instead of asking me for half and suing him for half, they want me to pay the entire amount. I can't even negotiate with them, because then they take my "cooperation" as "evidence" that the debt belongs entirely to me.

Just the other day on Good Morning America, there was a woman talking about these harrassing phone calls & how to stope them. You have to mail them a "certified" letter telling them to not call you anymore. Then by law, they cannot call you. Not sure for how long, but I think it's a year. Hope this helps.

If a collection agency like this calls you and they are trying to reach someone else you can file a complaint with the FTC. You can go to their website at www.ftc.gov and file and complaint using an online form. I used to work as a contractor for the government and I know that the more complaints you file against this company the better. Usually government agencies consider your complaint like a "vote" and therefore the more complaints they get against one company, the more likely they are to act on them. I would file a separate complaint for each call you receive from them. The calls should stop.

Academy Collection Service is scum of the earth. My wife has power of attorney for her mother who has only Social Security. She on Medicaid and lives in assisted living. She had a debt from CitiBank shew is unable to pay off except at a rate of $10.00 per month. These b*****ds harass us day and night. We have both faxed and mailed numberous copies of the power of attorney and documentation that my mother in law has zero assets and virtually no disposable income each month. Yet they persist. Thewy use different phone numbers to call from, and it always shows up as "Caller Unknown" on the caller ID. Even when I've been desperately sick the call as late as 9:00 PM.
There should be a way to stop such harassment. We are not responsible for my mother in law's debts. CitiBank was stupid to give her a cash advance to buy a used car when she had no income. Greedy b*****ds who deserve what they get.
