Got a call at work from a man with a thick Indian accent claiming that I needed to pay $654 right now or I would be charged over $5000 in court costs if a judgement went against me.  He said I had committed fraud by accepting and failing to pay back a loan from Quick Cash Advance (which I haven't) and and that I have a court date tomorrow at 11am.  I asked him in which courthouse.  He said the nearest one to you....REALLY.  He said he worked for the Clifton Group in Atlanta, Georgia and his name was Melvin Alston.

Got a call from David Watson, the number was 856-823-0398. Said he was from Clifton Law Firm. the sad thing is this same guy (David Watson) called me in April and said he was from a different law firm and for me to pay ASAP or go to court and risk going to jail. I told David enough was enough. I was reporting his number and phony company name to authorities, and although nothing may come of it at least more people and the authorities will be aware of their SCAM. He laughed and said I already got money. I told him not from me you haven't. Please report this number to authorities if you receive a call. The more voices the authorities hear from the more likely action will be taken.

Yes I received one of these calls today. The phone number they were calling from is 856-823-0398 Clifton Law Group. They said they were representing Quick Cash Advance and they will be prosecuting me if I don't pay by 11am. I almost did it as well. I called one of my debtors and they told me to call the Federal Trade Commission @ 877-382-4357. He told me to Western Union it to Melvin Alston code city- cafefone, NY. This is definately a scam. I called him back and told him I was informed it was a scam, he became beligerant and told me to wait on the police to come get me. SMH

lEFT ME A VOICE MAIL TELLING ME IF I DID NOT CALL BACK THEY WOULD HAVE ME ARESTTED. THIS IS A BOGUS CLAIM FOR A PAYDAY LOAN I NEVER HAD.

Got the same type of call from this number as well: 1-856-823-0398.  Sent it to our State's Attorney General's office and nothing seems to get done.  This harassment just doesn't stop even when you tell them to send you information in writing to your address.  Know I shouldn't get upset but it is embarassing in the office when they call.  Does anybody have any ideas on how to get them to stop.  Would love for an attorney to send them a cease order.

Phone Number 856-823-0398 is serviced by Bandwidth.com a telecommunications company located in Cary, NC.  They can be reached at 1-800-808-5150.  I was advised that they could not disclose the name of the owner of 856-823-0398.  However, I was advised to advise the Fraud Department of my telephone company and/or local police.  They would in turn issue a subpeona to Bandwidth.com and the number would either be blocked from your number and/or shut down.  Everyone getting these calls needs to follow this procuedure in order to disrupt these scammer's business to the greatest extent possible.  They probably won't stop, just change numbers.  But each time they can be set a blow if people will only take the time to take the appropriate action.

Calling from 856-823-0398 to a place of business to harrass an employee.  Has threatened receptionist, supervisors and managers with arrest for interfering with an officer in the performance of their duty.  Identified themselves as working for The Clifton Law Group, and The Clifton Group, the legal department of a collection agency.  Stated they were located in Newark, NJ.  Mr. Watson claim he had a badge, number 32413.  Refused to identify issuing authority.  Refuses to ceased and desist harrassing calls.
Otherwise, claims and threats made to employee are pretty much the same as noted on other posts.  Have advised employee to request address for payments so that law enforcement authorities can be informed, to request that they submit proof of debt, copy of court subpeona, and/or proof of court-issued judgment, all their responsibilities under the law.  Practices are clear violation of Fair Lending Laws, even if debts were bonifide.
Will turn information over to State District Attornry and Federal District Attorney for prosecution.  Everyone should do the same and not just make this posting.  Maybe we can put a stop to this.

LiterAlly just got off the phone with this David guy who was the manager. So dumb saying I had a cash loan when I don't and that I'm going to jail ! Do not buy Ito this some Indian scam guy is not gonna get nothing out of me :)

Got a call and they could not even understand the caller, said he wishes me luck and call him back or my attorney. I called the number back and it was not even available!

I got a call yesterday from not only this number, but also 253-561-7911 and 206-445-6538 indicating that I should have my attorney call him regarding a time sensitive matter and that it would be in my best interest to do so and that all they can say is wish me luck. Fortunately, I have had several of these calls and just dont answer them. I have no affiliation with anyone nor owe anyone for anything--they just get info on you and try to scare you, nice try. One time, I did call them back as I was at police station and they hung up--so dont sweat it--they just want to hook people, but we know better. So nice try scammers, go F--- yourselves because citizens are alot smarter than you think we are.

I received this phone call as well. Stating I had to pay $5,400 and i never got anything from them I'm not allowed to use Payday Loans anyway cause I'm active duty. They are a SCAM. I hung up on him and told them not to call me anymore. And Guess what he called right back with an attitude. I hung up again. Now they are calling my job.  Dont fall for it.. If it was true I'm sure I would have gotten something in the Mail. This is suppose to be from Nov 2010

Got a call from and Indian speaking woman that told me I was going to jail and I had court on Monday. Really? She told me that I had loan out with Quick Cash Advance. Never heard of them??? She told me to use a 14 digit Green Dot Card...if I'm paying why does it matter how I pay it? This is a SCAM.  I almost did it too! She is  pushy don't do it. Also when I asked her to provide me with some kind of documention she said after I pay that I would receive something. HECK NO!  That's when I knew it was a scam. Think twice before you give these ppl any money.

This person calls my job and cell phone harassing me telling me I have court tomorrow at 11am. This person says he works for an attorney office, and that I have an outstanding balance (payday loan). That I must pay! This guy really thinks that I'm falling for it. Cause I know that I don't get any payday loans out. Plus this guy says his name is melvin lopez (lol) come on!!! His english is so messed up!!! (Indian guy) Hahahahaha: he really gets mad because he knows that he aint getting NOTHING from me... He is Sooo FAKE!!!! People don't fall for this!!! Got a call from a Samantha at this number and really hard to understand her - I will not call back because several months ago had gotten similar calls - supposedly about a debt - when I did not have one - it is a scam - and several months ago I told them to not call me at work or at home again and here they are doing it again.

Got a call at work the day before and called back the next day. Said I had a balance due to Quick Cash Advance and that if i didnt pay it they would be sueing me for theft. I told them i never took anything out with Quick Cash Advance and said to pay $200 to send it back to re-investigate. "Manager" name is David Watson. gave me fax # of 856-946-1161 said if i didnt pay or want to resolve issue would send police to my house to arrest me.
