Just received a  call from a guy claiming to be from Microsoft with heavy accent.  On my caller ID, it said simply Denver, CO  Said our computer had been infected with Trojan virus and the software stopped running....???.....said he was a Microsoft Technician.  I told him I was uncomfortable talking to him about my computer.....he called me, I didn't call him.  I told him I would call Microsoft and he gave me the number of 858-345-3171 and that I should ask for him in the Technical Dept.  and that his name was Atwood Furlong (that's what it sounded like he said to me....he has a very slurry, heavy accent).  He said that Microsoft couldn't go to everyone's house so they were fixing the computers by phone.   Anyway, came on here to check this number out and so glad I did.  My husband thought it was possibly legit because he has been having trouble with his desktop and this guy specifically mentioned our desktop.  You just can't be too careful these days.  I'm grateful for this site and thank you other posters for taking the time to record your info.

My wife got this call from "Ray" and like above said he was from Microsoft. He had detected a virus and asked my wife to get on our computer. She was infact having problems logging on our new computer and told him she couldn't. He gave this same number and said he would call back. He has not called back.

This is the second call I have received from a man with a heavy accent, he said his name was Gavin Roberts, claiming to be from Microsoft.   I told him I was ill & asked for the call back number.  This is the number he gave me, 1-858-345-3171.  He said they were getting signals that indicated my computer had been infected with a virus.  I asked who are they, he told me they were Microsoft 35 Tech.
I did not give him any information and I will not. I do believe this is a SCAM!!!!!!!

Have had these calls before. Keep him on the line so he does not get to call anyone. Why can't the phone company be held acountable for a this scam.

My elderly mom got scammed by this guy yesterday. Look out - it is a phishing scam! Do not give them any info, do not give them access to your computer. The guy has nothing to do with Microsoft.

Received a call from Jeff Westnor form Microsoft Windows that my computer is about to crash.  I asked him how he knows, he said he has my IT address.  I asked for his number to call him back because I had to leave shortly.

I just got the same call and he gave me the same number.  Said his name was John.  Does anyone know what's going on?

Received a call from a man with a heavy accent, said his name was Chistopher Woran, claiming to be from Microsoft.  I asked him how I knew he was from Microsoft as the number he called from came up as unknown.  He said I'll provide you with a number when we're done.  He said they were getting signals my computer had been infected with a virus.  I told him I was busy & asked for the call back number.  This is the number he gave me.  What agency should this be reported to?  Beware!
