Called the FAX line at my place of work. Don't know who it is. May be calling for other employee(s) that work here. It's odd though. They always seem to call the FAX line.

Another poster from a different site said it might be HSBC but he wasn't for sure because he hasn't called back yet.

You are right when you wrote they call if you are a day late. I recieved a letter in the mail that they would give you a deal if you PAID off your car loan OUT RIGHT because they no longer want to deal with small loans for cars. Just Larger accounts. So now if you are a day late they hound you. I just added their number to my cell phone and put their ring tone as SILENT. So they will get a return phone call on MY TIME not theirs.

Not to self. they have people on the other side of the world calling you.
You can't understand half of them. RUDE when you keep asking "What did you say" HAHA

You can call HSBC and tell them up to 4 numbers you want to put on your DO NOT CALL LIST!!! So they can't call your house or work. They just need one good number. I gave them my cell so I can put them on silence. Play their game. Yes pay your bills and don't dodge them forever but in these hard times we all need a break! Not excusing bad financial behavior just helpful hints.

858-609-4458 is HSBC... they call incessantly if you are late by a day.  They call every half hour sometimes, not caring if I am at work and they are disrupting....  Guess they don't want money if they don't care if I get fired.
So if they are calling you, YOU OWE MONEY, and if you want the calls to stop, PAY HSBC.

I received several calls from both of the numbers indicated above (858-609-4458 / 609-2168.  No message.  I tried the 4458 number and it is from HSBC Auto Finance.

It asked for my account number or Social Security Number.  Of course, I gave neither.

it is DEFINATELY hsbc. i just made a payment for my girlfriend this week, so they would just have gotten my number, and i am just now getting called for the first time ever by this number. add also 609-2158 to the hsbc list. oh, look, it's them again now... ignore.

Have been receiving calls from this number for over a week.  There have been 15 to 20 calls a day.  When I do talk to someone they keep asking for a person I have never heard of.  This is unacceptable behavior from whoever this is.  They told me twice that they would put down that this is a wrong number but it hasn't happened yet.  I am considering dropping my phone service.  We sure do not need this every day.

called, no message. I just refinanced an auto loan from HSBC and their autoloan hq is in san diego.

Called today (07/25/08) at 5:59PM MST and left no message.

If Dee reports that it might be HSBC, it's possible as I have an account with them (in good standing).
