Who are these people and how do I get them to pay for using my texts - how did they get my number, I am on the do not call list.

unsolicited text message from 858-699-4919:

"Dear homeowner, if you are struggling to make your mortgage payment
or have a recent hardship, a modification can help. Would you like to learn
more about this?"

Didn't call number after what was listed above.

Received text message reading
"Do you have $10,000 or more in credit card deb? STOP PAYING ALL THAT INTEREST! Our system can lower your high payments immediately. Text "YES" back for info."

Are your mortgage payments too high? You may qualify for a 2% interest rate on your mortgage! Can we contact you at this number with more information?

received text message 22 Dec 2009. Did not read since I pay extra to read any text message, plus the time on my cell phone!  robbery.  I'm on the do not call list.  This should include text!

Same as above & 2nd one this week (different #).  Reported other one to FCC.

Same thing I got on text...WTF?! SPAM on text message is not cool!

I got the same txt message from this number just now.

I received the same text message. I seems to be originating from a cell phone in La Jolla, CA. http://www.phonedetective.com/PD.aspx?_act=preview&_pho=8586994919

Received same txt message as noted above. I read the fcc link above and noticed it only applies to messages that originate from the internet and not mobile to mobile as this one appears to be.

Caller left text message regarding "struggling to make mortgage payments" and asking for a reply to their suggestion to help.  I called the number and a message came on, "Total Scam."  The call was disconnected by the other side at this point.

Got one of these unsolicited text messages on cell yesterday.  Used link to FCC site, & filed complaint - thanks for the link!

Same here. One text message from 8586994919, and the other from 3105928859.

Got one of these today as well. For unsolicited texts like this, file a report with the FCC. It takes about 5 minutes online. http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/canspam.html

I received the same text as above and replied back 'STOP'. How do they even get your number?

Just received same text as the Dear Homeowner at 1:25 on Dec. 9th

This number sent me a text message saying: " Dear homeowner, if you are struggling to make your mortgage payment or have recent hardship, a modification can help. Would you like to learn more about this?"
This is a second text to my cell phone. Both send well after 10PM. Unacceptable. Since when is spam through text messages legal and who pays the bill?
When I called the number to tell them to stop, the voice mail message had announced that I have reached (you ready for this) "TOTAL SCAM".

Received unauthorized text. I am on the Do Not Call registry, which apparently means nothing when it comes to text.
