Received the same call yesterday from Tim Thompson (859-492-1943), who said he was VP with PFS and wanted me to come in for an interview, but never bothered to even tell me what the company did.  When I asked, all he said was that it was in the Financial and Asset Management area.  I've been in the same job (NOT related to Finance or Asset Management) for nearly 10 years and am not looking.  When I asked how he got my name, he said someone referred me but he 'didn't know who' - sounded very suspicious.  I asked if it was a sales position and he was vague, saying it was a 'management' opportunity.  Why on earth, if this were a legitimate opportunity, wouldn't he take 5 minutes over the phone to explain the position and gauge my interest/competence before pressuring me into going to his office for a 30 minute in-person interview?  Made no sense.  Said I wasn't interested and, out of curiousity, looked him up.  Seems he's been doing this a while...

Called me today in Lexington, KY. This guy evidently has been around awhile! LOL Said he talked to somebody (gave a name I've never heard of) and they told him I was keeping my options open for work. I explained to him that I am presently working and not looking for other work. He "acted" puzzled and then said ok. I thought it was just a mistake until I found this page :) BTW, the caller ID was for Jill Thompson and was a local 859 number.

I think there must be some sort of privacy breach here. I just got a new number a few months ago. Do you all have Verizon coverage? He is a representative, or district leader with Primerica, which btw, Citigroup is the parent company.

Tim called me and I am positive this is a scam of some sort.  If he can't identify who gave him my number or what company he is with ...then duh!!! BTW he has left the exact EXACT same message for others, with literally only the name changing. Don't call this # back if you are smart.

I too received a call on my cell purportedly from Mr. Thompson.  Once before I received a call from a woman with the same MO. They leave a number and name but no company name.  They reference a mysterious manager position.  I have googled Mr Thompson and scam and found that he calls from many different numbers with 859, 502, even 770 area codes. Sometimes he goes by Tim instead of Jim.  Do not call!! This is an attempt at identity theft.  He will ask you for personal information during the "interview." Old scam during a time when people are desperate for jobs. So sad.

Return the call. You wont regret it. Dont worry, he isnt trying to sell you anything, or trying to take money from you. Just giving you an opportunity. Whats a 5 minute phone conversation anyways? You can hang up on him if you dont like what he's saying!

I also want to keep this thread going on a positive note!  I  received a call from Mr. Thompson, a Vice President with a Financial Services company.  A current client of his, who was a work associate of mine, gave him my name.  Scott knew that I was looking for a new career that allowed me a little more freedom so he gave my number to Mr. Thompson.  I went in for a short interview and was so impressed that I decided to make this my new career.  It has given me the freedom that I was looking for while also helping others meet their financial goals.  It is also helping my family reach out financial goals.  In today's society, there are very few people who do not need help with their finances/financial goals.

In response to "Sam" above, I am licensed in multiple states having a life/health license, Series 6, 63, & 29 in securities.   I had all of these licenses when I started with PFS, but they help new associates obtain these licenses and properly train them in how to use them.

And no this career is not for everyone, so if you feel you are being scammed....certainly stay away.  This is only for positve individuals who love helping others reach their financial goals.

Obviously he had the wrong number or person when he called most of those who posted here. What business would want silly people that post goofy comments anyways. I mean really, think about it, how many of you have run any business much less a financial business?  Professionals don't care about that stuff (where did you get my number, etc). I'm happy in my career but did refer him to a student of mine that may be a good fit. I'd say you did him a favor by not replying.

In the same situation as Julie, who posted above.  Got a call with the same information, just the 8594921943 number.  Tried returning the call and it went straight to voicemail.

Just wanted to keep this thread updated.  I received this same message on my voicemail today and thought it sounded fishy...Tim Thompson, offering me a management opportunity.  The only difference is I received it from 859-492-1943 (I'm logging it for that number, too).  My cell number is not listed, I have no idea who this guy is, he addressed me familiarly by my first name and gave no company name or details. Reading this thread just confirmed my decision not to return the call!

I just checked my voicemail and had a message from Tim Thompson, same as all the above. Offered me a managment job without naming me or the organization he was with. Those aren't just red flags...those are flaming, screaming, neon-bright red flags. He called me once before a few months ago. I first I thought, "Hmm..", because it was a local number and he had a country twang. The second thought I had was, "Google!", and I found this site. I didn't leave a post then, but after reading Jocelyn's post above, I wanted to keep this thread updated and, more importantly, real.

Jocelyn, if it's so great, name the company you're working for. What exactly are you "state and federally licensed" in? If you can't give a name, or refuse to, it's a scam, plain and simple. You don't have to prove anything to anyone, but by not answering, you place doubt on the credibility of your above statement.

Returning Mr. Thompson's call was the best move that I ever made.  It is certainly not a scam.  For those of you who did not, you most definately missed a great opportunity.  I am making more money than I ever have in any job that I have had in the past 15 years using my  degree!  I am now state and federally licensed in several areas due to answering a call.  Best call that I have ever received!  Oh, by the way, he got my name from an aquaintance who thought I would be a good fit for the job!!  He also got other names from this same person so don't be so skeptical.   I have also given him names for others, even people I know out of state.  It is a world wide business, so who knows who may have referred you.  I do know there are daily referrals from many contact that we have.  Again, the greatest thing that has happened to me and my family in years!  Thanks!!

This guy addressed himself as "Tim Thompson" to me and called me by my nickname which set off a major red flag. On his voicemail, he also didn't say what company he was from which was another red flag. When I called him back, he couldn't tell me who gave him my number but wanted me to come in for an interview for a management position on the corner of Pasedena and Harrodsburg. He said his company was PDF or something like that and was a finacial advising company. Definitley a scam.
