THIS IS A SCAM. This is a version of the advance-fee-for-something scam where something is a grant, loan, scammed-money refund, lottery winnings, interest rate reduction, tax reduction, gift card, refund, doggie, cruise, vacation, free gas, etc., and the advance-fee is for tax, shipping, registration, insurance, secure handling, processing, etc. They may send you a fake check, may want your credit/debit card or bank account number, or tell you to wire cash via Western Union, Moneygram, etc. They can put recurrent difficult-to-cancel monthly charges or a 1-time charge on your card or bank account, and sell account info to other criminals and you'll have to replace accounts altogether. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. If they want you to call them up for instructions, they may tell you not to discuss the wire with Western Union desk clerks but the real reason is WU clerks are familiar with these scams and will warn you not to wire the money. Report to US Postal Service Inspectors https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/MailFraudComplaint.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.

I just a got a weird call about free gas. I could tell it was some scam because of the free gas offer? The number was 616-613-2044. It was a woman who was talking to me from Vista Marketing same story as the rest. Asking me to verify I am the signer on the account. Asked me if I am between 18- 80 years old? I told her I don't want the free gas offer and she became irritated and abruptly ended the conversation.

Well, I just fell for it.  They called and said they were calling about a VISA card ending in XXXX and expriring on XX-XX - and that I had been such a good customer they were going to send me $120 in free gas cards.  They made it sound like a genuine VISA deal at first.  Then they got into other offers...I said I wasn't interested in any of it - they replied I could cancel by calling the numbers provided...I asked for the number and he gave me 1800-283-3956 which turned out to be US Magazine.  He also gave me two other numbers 800-600-0016 (turned out to be an ad for 1 800 TALK) and 866-674-9805.

Thank you Andy. This has been the most helpful information - and the only way to talk to a live supervisor to make sure that indeed you are off their list, will not be charged, etc. in their scam. Totally shady and a total hassle. My husband reminded me that if you order anything from the internet and it's not from a large place like Amazon, then use PayPal to handle the payment end of it. Ugh - I think they got my info when I ordered Space Saver Bags. I will now be contacting the Better Business Bureau and anywhere else I can think to file a complaint.

The person who called me offered me $120 in free gas vouchers also and had the last 4 digits of my credit card. He said I was randomly selected to win this free gift and that all I would have to pay is $3.95 for shipping and handling once it arrived. I know it sounds naive but I listened for awhile longer because since he had the last 4 digits of my acct it made me think I had maybe won something -- so stupid I know. Anyway, once I agreed the caller put me through to the "verification manager" who prompted me to a recording where I was to state my name, address, phone number and agree to the "free" vouchers. I immediately hung up after being asked to do this. Since then -- about 15 minutes ago. The same number has been psycho stalking me with one call after the other. If this wasn't some crazy scam, they surely wouldn't be doing that and would go on to the next "preffered" customer. I just added my number to the DNC call registry. Don't fall for this!

I suggest when you get a call answer it right away say "put me on your DO NOT CALL list (DNC)" and hang up. Once you say that by law they have to put you on the list. It will stop the calls right away!

Hanging up without saying DNC or not answering it all together makes it worse. Just answer and say that and they will stop.

I FINALY FOUND OUT HOW THESE SCAMMERS GOT MY CREDIT CARD LAST 4 DIGITS, NAME AND ADDRESS. IF ANY ONE HAS EVER PURCHASED SOMETHING FROM THE "AS SEEN ON TV ' WEBSITES - THEY WILL SELL YOUR INFO TO A 3RD PARTY COMPANY! READ THE PRIVACY POLICY IT EVEN STATES THIS! THE NAME OF THE COMPANY THAT CALLS YOU ABOUT THESE GAS VOUCHERS IS  VISTA SERVICES.  THEY HAVE YOUR CARD # AND ASK FOR YOU BY FIRST NAME. " AS SEEN ON TV" IS WHO SELLS YOUR PRIVATE INFO! THEY ARE MORE IN FAULT THAN THE SCAMMERS WHO CALL YOU.

Our business has been plagued with these calls lately. 2 or 3 times a day at the least.  I always ask if they want the person's voicemail they are calling, if they want to leave a message or phone number to be contacted back.  Never leave anything and always say they will call back. So finally today, told the person on the other line if they can't leave a message to put us on their do not call list.  That it's a waste of our employees time to field the calls.  His response "I'm sorry you have a job that you don't like answering the phone".  So after several repeated attempts to request the do not call list and his other excuses "this is just a call center", "won't do any good", "it's just a courtesy call", he then said "What, are you on some kind of power trip?"  Next time, I'm going to start acting like I'm calling them, and repeating everything they say.  I'll give him a Will Farrel.

I have received numerous calls on my cell phone from Vista the past two days.  Everything that others have reported have been relayed to me by "Jeff" (he calls himself.)  The first call I actually verified I was the person who had the credit card with the last four numbers xxxx .  I then got suspicious after the offer of $120 of free gas and some free coupons, so I hung up.  There have been at least eight calls since then, and the person immediately identifies himself as "Jeff" from Vista Services.  Now, I do not admit I am the person he is asking for, and hang up the cell phone.  I have also registered my cell phones and home phones on the government "Do Not Call " list at www.donotcall.gov/ You may know that the floodgates have been opened for Telemarketers/scams with the release of cell and other numbers.

Just received a call from 269-477-2150 from Vista Services. Got the same pitch as in all the other posts although they didn't mention anything about a credit card number. Hopefully I won't find any strange charges on my cards. Have to wonder if it's worth it to keep the cards if there are so many out there thinking up new ways to rip people off.

My husband received a call today from 269-477-2150. Same story - said they had the last for of his debit card, I was the preferred customer in this case. $120.00 if free gas. $9.85 will be charged today for the mailing of the packet. Have to cancel within 30 days by calling 800-286-3956 (which when calling refers you to call 800-377-TALK - probably a porn line). The difference in this one is that they had him enter 4 numbers and then his zipcode on the phone. Which SADLY he did. Luckily they had only called a few minutes before I got home - so we can cancel the card. For the record, he had previously (3 weeks ago) had to cancel a card with the bank because it had been compromised and they withdrew $1000.00 in just 2 days!!). Luckily the bank knew it wasn't us and we got it back.

I just got a call from Vista Services, they were offering $500 or so on rebates for gas plus 40% discount on retail, also asked me that I should pay $2.98 on stamps.  I told him that if they were offering me that much money why your company cannot pay the postage themselves?  He said that they are only charged to offer the gas rebates and dct on retails.  I told him that how do I know the gas stations will give me credit, he said that I need to send the invoice on the mail to get the rebate.  I just told him that he needs to call back later for my husband to hear this deal.  I think it is a scam since he was insistent that since I was the name on the credit card, I should make the decision.  He hang up then.  I think it is a scam.  I will cancel my cc.

Just had a call: Vista Services: they knew the last 4 digits of my credit card.  Said they would be sending me free gas cards and would I please watch for these.  This was a pleasant female voice.  I asked how she knew my credit card numbers.  I then asked two more questions and she hung up on me.  This bothers me because my 92 year old father was a victim of the well known scammer from Canada who claims to be the victim's grand child in need of serious financial help.

I JUST GOT A CALL FROM ""VISTA SERVICES"" the phone number that it came in from was (616)980-1152   hope that helps to anybody that was a victim... you could probably trace that number back to the scammers...

Female that called said that I had been awarded $150 monthly for 5 years from a raffle that I entered when making a purchase with my VISA card (I dont have a visa card... I deal with straight up cash for everything) and that I should be expecting a package in the mail within the next 7 days she prompted if I still live in the state of NY, I confirmed.. then she said something about purchasing a subscription for 29.95 a month and asked me if I had any questions... I said "just 1" "how long will it take you to get me off your calling list"
