Your number may not have been sold by Skype. This could be a robo call that calls every combination of number, regardless of whether or not they exist. Every time it gets an answer or gets forwarded to voicemail it know the number is active and can add it to a list of active number to sell to other spammers. The list of active numbers it discovers could be more valuable than the products they are selling. Yes, this should be illegal.

There is no such thing as a brand new number. ALL phone numbers are recycled. Don't blame Skype as it's not their fault you're getting garbage. Whoever it is that is calling is clearly dialing random numbers. Just ignore them.

I got a call from this number, said South Carloina, no message left. My number is BRAND NEW as I got it less than 24 hours ago. It is a Skype number we hand picked, clearly indicating it was sold to a 3rd party. I haven't even used it yet, nor given it out, even to family members. Seems like this should be illegal or something since I had to pay for it only to get spammed! Thanks Skype, I will make sure everyone knows how you operate.

called it back ask them which dept of the FBI they were from and when I told them I was from the FBI (cyber team) they hang up fyi I'm not from the FBI

They called me while I was on the phone. After I hung up on the previous caller, I checked the recent calls and saw this #. iPhone said it was from South Carolina. There was no message left. I typed the # into this website's service and was directed to this thread.

New twist. Called me once. When I didn't pick up, immediately called me back. I was tempted to answer in case it was emergency but didn't. No message left.

It's a recording. Says the FBI has reported high crime in my area. Wanted to know if I was will to place a security sign in my yard at no cost to me. If I was interested press 1 to b put on a do not call list press 9. I pressed 9 and the call disconnected.
