The National Do Not Call Registry is completely useless against robocalls and spam calls, because they operate outside the normal channels to which they would otherwise be held accountable.  Thanks, lawmakers!!!

Yet another call (pre-recorded message) from Ann with "Account Services."  The pre-recorded message from Ann promises to lower my credit card interest rates and warns my that I should consider this my final notice.  I've been receiving these spam/scam calls almost daily for two years.  They call from spoofed CallerIDs and have no interest in removing anyone from their calling lists.  The only option when listening to the pre-recorded message is to press 1 to speak to a representative.  Pressing 1 routes you to an "agent" who will try to get you to divulge your credit card numbers.  Asking to be removed will get them to hang up on you.  Asking them why they called you will get them to hang up on you.  I haven't found ANYTHING that will actually make them stop calling.

For those of you who have had the pleasure of having one or more of these Robo Calls, do not expect that you will get any help from the FCC or FTC.  Thousands of victims have been filing complaints each time that they receive a call and the FCC or FTC will send you a boiler plate letter stating what you can do, but do not call them.   What I have done is to place these in my system as a Robo Call which will document each phone number, date and time that the call was received.  Like many of you I am fed up with the Account Services Calls or the other three or four by the same company.  If you call and try and have them delete your number, it just means that they will hang up on you and then sell your number to another illegal company so you will then receive more phone calls.  Recently some of our state legislators were victimized by this type of call and of course they wanted immediate action.  After 18 months of filing with the FCC and FTC and seeing that nothing has been done, I am more inclined to bring it to the attention of the law makers to see if they can spur some action either at the State level (Attorney General) or by forcing the Federal Government to do something.  Currently I am up to about 60 different spoof calls from this same company.  Hope that we can all get them stopped and send them to the grey bar hotel for an extended stay.  They will probably figure out how to use the jail phones to continue their actions.

A new number for "ANN" from ACCOUNT SERVICES.
I now track all the telemarketer calls -mostly from "ANN" to eventually file a civil lawsuit.
ALL of them get reported to DONOTCALL.GOV in order to provide a file and steady stream of complaints for government tracking, fines, and civil suits.  We all need to report every call to DONOTCAL to provide ammo for fed and state action.
Calling them back or asking for them to place you on their do not call list is BS and a waste of time.
Instead of playing with them, keep reporting them.... every time.
That is like a phone call to your congressman. If enough complaints are recorded, it goes to the top of the pile.

Do not make the mistake of giving them a hard time like I did. I pushed 1 once and got into it with the guy. He hung up but gave my number out to other people and told them it was  the number to call if you wanted them to stop calling you. I got about 10 calls immediately from angry people just like me. They called so fast most went  to voice mail. Now if I get a call and don't recognize the number, I do NOT answer.

I have tried the same approach. If I have plenty of time, I'll see how much of their time I can waste.  When we get to the point where they want a credit card number, I'll tell them I have to go get it and it may take a while because I'm disabled.  Then I set the phone down in front of the computer speakers and pull up a porn website so they have some noises to listen to while they're waiting for me to return.  The longest I've kept them on the line is 13 minutes.  I'm trying for 20 minutes.

The owner of this firm should be locked in a room where the ceiling is covered by a bunch of cellphones which ring at random intervals 24/7.

If I have the time I will talk to them for a while just to waste their time.  Eventually some where along the line I will say would you please F O.  I only started this after they told me to, and by the way they do have your first and last name.  They have been calling me for over a year, and there is no taking you off the list!

I no longer answer any call whose number I do not recognize.  On my home phone, it goes to voicemail if I do not answer in 2 rings and I let the cell phone ring and then check call activity and call back if I recognize the number.  Very few people have my cell #.

It would be great if ex-employees or disgruntled employees of these shops would post their physical locations online and let vigilante justice run it's course.  If I'm sitting on the jury, any mass murder who takes out one of these nests will walk!

I would recommend not screwing with them or even asking to be removed from their "lists".  I did both, and now I get 6-10 calls a DAY from their various spoofed phone numbers. Call any of these numbers back results in a the call not going through.

Ignore the call, and if you have a smartphone get a call blocking application.

Funny thing, as I'm typing this, I got another call from these jerks.

Got one from the B******S.  I knew it was bogus but I answered it anyway to play with them (I have lots of minutes).  Press 1 to lower your credit card debt.  Some cranky woman got on the line and asked me how much credit I had.  "Twenty two thousand and change I said."  She hung up.  Probably decided that I was too smart to fall for the ruse.  I will act dumber next time.  The jerks have also hung up when I said that I was hearing impaired and having trouble hearing them.

Most of these numbers are spoofed.  Try to call them back (use *67 to block your outgoing number).  The number is not in service.

So besides the calling company (if one actually purchases a service), the primary beneficiary of these calls is the cellular provider.

They get to charge at least 1 minute (and sometimes more) for each of these calls.  So when we ask the cellular companies for help (I use AT&T) they offer yet another service to block up to 30 callers for $5-10 per month.  I had this service for a while.  It takes a lot of time and just isnt worth it.

It seems clear to me that they really have no interest in stopping the calls.  Plus they offer no help in tracking down the callers.  I should be able to text a message to my cell company or a central clearing house created by the cellular companies with the phone number.  At 100 texts (or somebody picks a number), someone from the phone company gets an alert, calls the number, finds out that it is a spammer, and then blocks all calls from that ID.  I bet that would slow these jerks down a lot.  It appears to me that they use the same spoof for a couple of days.  I do not know how hard changing the spoof for every call would be.
