Debt Collector
For months I have received calls from this number:  1-866-205-3088
It gradually got to the point that I was receiving several calls per day, sometimes as often as 1 per hour! I used to answer but got nothing at the other end. It became a ''click on, click off'' solution for me as I answered and hung up right away.
Reading all the complaints on the subject, I came across a message on another website that gave a number where to call:
1-866-317-3382  This is Customer Relations at Bell Canada.  Bless that person!

The collection agency that repeatedly calls you is working for Bell.  If you owe them money or if you ever gave your name as referral for somebody that owes them money, they will continually harass you until they get paid.  Someone gave my name as reference and Bingo!  Now I'm getting the calls.
If you want a quick resolution to the harassment, please call Customer Relations and complain.
I did: I told them about the calls, the silence at the other end and that I thought that it was a form of harassment on their part.
They very kindly took care of the situation and I should have peace and quiet starting tomorrow!
Make sure you have the name of the person you've talked to, her employee number and the date and hour you called written down just in case it doesn't get resolved, since they do not give you a confirmation number!

Good luck to all of you!
Marie

These calls are definitely instigated by Bell but they are apparently not actually Bell. My understanding is that it is a collection agency that is contracted by Bell to harrass people but it isn't actually Bell. So the people who call sometimes claim they are Bell perhaps to make them seem more important but they are actually calling from a separate company hired by Bell. They are definitely agents acting on behalf of Bell. I quit Bell Mobility a long time ago thanks to the garbage back & forth between these guys & Bell. My payroll didn't match up with Bell's billing cycle so even though they were getting their money it would be a week or so behind their due date & I would start getting calls from this bunch. Calling Bell would have me dealing with "normal, reasonable" people. This group didn't care about conversations you had with Bell, just getting committments for more money to Bell - I guess so they would look good (& show that they were worth the money Bell paid them). Instead this group acting on behalf of Bell likely costs Bell more than this group brings in.

If you receive these calls report them, there using illegal ways to collect. Know your rights, It's illegal to call
more than once a day. Bell thinks they have more power then anyone. I'm looking for people for a multi civil
suit against Bell. There practice is basically over the top, they don't follow the rules like all Canadian Companies. Call Crtc or consumer affairs.

Prank Call
I'm a Canadian.  I too was getting harassing call from Unknown and no number calls.  Ten to twenty times a day?  I suggest all you harassed people get on the Do Not Call List.  Both American and Canadians can get on their own country's call list, for free, plus you can also get on your neighbor country's call list free. The D.N.C.L. gives telemarketers a lee-way of thirty one days to update their do not call lists.  Then if they call after the 31 days C.R.T.C (Canada} I don't know what it's called in the States, can issue fines.  The D.N.C.L. number is in your telephone book.  If you have an unknown caller no number it is a telemarketer coming in on the telemarketing system, which cannot be traced.  Here's what you do press redial it will take about 30 seconds for your telephone to ring them back, just to let them know they are not as hidden as they think they are, and if the telemarketer picks up tell them you want to talk to their supervisor.  The telemarketer will usually hang up and not call back.

I called Bell Canada and they confirmed it's not them. The Bell rep did mention that it appears these calls are being done online through an automated program. The real question is, "why"?

My cell number is unique as it is mostly made up of zeros. I am theorizing that it's a company that terrorizes people into forcing them to abandon their numbers so that it is up for grabs. Then they sell these unique cell numbers to the highest bidders. Just a theory.

I can't imagine all these prank calls are for no monetary gain.

Anyway, my solution is: Get yourself a smartphone and install an app like "iBlacklist" (for the iPhone). It intercepts unwanted calls and allows you to either make the calls automatically hang-up or make the line busy for specific phone numbers. I never hear my cell ringing over this nonsense anymore.

Total scam artists. They called here and said that my Bell ExpressVu account was overdue-which is not true at all. They tried to get me to give them a credit card number. The guy was a complete fool and his English was really, really bad. He wouldn't answer questions or verify anything. I asked to speak to his manager and he was no better. I hung up on them, called Bell and all is in order. They were indeed scammers. Give them no information. People like that should be punished harshly.

OK ... the number is a Bell number.  I called 310-BELL and they gave me the number and e-mail address for the organization that is the last resort for Bell complaints (1-866-317-3382 or e-mail executive.office@bell.ca).

When I called the number, the attendamt told me that the number was primarily used for Bell promotions.  So she offered to have my number put on their "Do not call list" and she gave me a confirmation number if the problem persists and I have to call back.  Only draw back is that it takes 2 to 4 weeks for it to take effect.

So when calling that number to remove yourself from that auto dialer, remember to get the confirmation number.

i get a call from this number, i pick up say hello and a few seconds later it hangs up. I call back the number, no ring, no nothing. I call bell, haha this is funny: i talk to their automated system, ask for a rep, they HANG UP on me. I give my mom's phone number to the automated system instead of my own, hilariously, this time someone actually wants to talk to me. i owe them a few dollars. I'll be glad to pay them when i have it. is there a point to calling me like this, without even asking for something? how is it getting them their money when i don't even know hwo is calling til a forum tells me it's bell. so the 'rep' at bell transfers me to collections, and at some point, the music stops, the line is dead... i've been hung up on. perhaps they really don't want my money after all, and i'll be damned if i'll pay them after this.
i wish i could tell them what i think of them, but they'll just hang up on me.

I keep getting called by this number, it's calling me approximately 4 -5 times per day and I never answer. it's getting annoying now. apart from changing my number is there something i can do? I don't have an account with Bell. and never have. I am with Videotron
- I talked to someone to have my number removed this morning and have received 4 more calls during the day. I told the person that I spoke with on the last call that if i receive another call from this number I would be filing a harrassment charge with the Police
